Psychokinetic Eyeball Pulling

Chapter 141: Ice Blood

Chapter 141: Ice Blood

Chapter 141: Ice Blood

Astrid stood at the edge of the river and waved her hand at the monster, yet it didn’t move. It was as if it was taunting her to join it in its domain.

“Not stupid, huh?” Astrid spat, then placed her attention on another set of spawn eyes.

The original body was different compared to the rest and was the main reason for Astrid choosing its eyes over the others. Hands that were extra webbed, legs larger, and thicker than the rest, and a powerful tail were the reasons.

It was a powerful swimmer.

Dominating Sovereigns Eye has extracted the Passive Skill - Natural Born Swimmer - From the Anchoring Spawn.

Natural Born Swimmer: Can breathe under-water for a period of time depending on Constitution. Use mana to form webs around your hands and feet to help swimming.

Would you like to merge with - Natural Born Swimmer Y/N?

Astrid wondered what would happen since she already had two ethereal eyes floating behind her. Would it take over one, or just immediately go into storage? Well, there was only one way to find out.

Accepting it, she was met with another System message that answered her question.

Two Eyes are currently in use. Take over one, or send it to storage?

Astrid swapped it out for the Phase Wave Skill. It wasn’t something she needed as it was a waste of mana since she could just use [Crash].

Focusing on the Skill. She covered her hands in a faint, blue mana. It looked just like the spawn’s own hand, and the same went for her legs, and feet.

Does the mana take over the physical nature of the Skill? Astrid wondered. It seemed to be the case. Thankfully. The last thing she wanted was to be mistaken for a damned spawn. The enemy of humanity.

She shook her head then grinned at the monster lurking deep within the waters. Its frigid eyes glowered at her, taunting her.

As you wish. Astrid chuckled and leapt into the water.

She was forced to take in an immediate breath as the cold pierced into her bones. It was cold. Too cold. Astrid flared her Omni-Kinesis as her Constitution was heightened to the apex of her current control. Thankfully, that seemed to work as her teeth stopped chattering.

The monster was still deep within. Astrid could guess why. Strangely, it wasn’t difficult understanding the mind of a powerful, craft monster. It wanted to lure her deeper within so that she had less of a chance to escape.

Level ??? - Spawn Serpent.

Let’s dance. Astrid kicked her legs and it instantly brought her dozens of metres forward with one kick. She didn’t want to get too close for obvious reasons and stood out of its presumed range.

Amassing a large section of matter, she [Crashed] it. The water exploded, sending an intense shockwave throughout. It passed through the Serpent. It screeched. It was so loud that Astrid had to drown out the sound of its vocal waves with her own.

That was right. Astrid remembered back in the Wayfarer’s exam. When she used [Crash] underwater, it was stronger than on air. Something about explosions underwater creating a huge amount of pressure.

And that same pressure had just passed straight through the spawn’s internal organs in point-blank range.

Despite the severe attack, and the blood trailing from the monster's nostrils, the large coiling body shot straight for her.

The beast screeched once more, sending a circle soundwave straight for her. Astrid immediately dodged to the side. As soon as she was away from the soundwave, the screeching was no more.

Astrid was going to create more distance, but the beast darted to the side, a wall of ice was left trailing behind it. Like a web from a spider.

She immediately worked out the monster's intentions. It was wanting to trap her with its ice control. It definitely reminded her of a spider. Just that this one was long and had no legs. Thankfully.

Not wanting to tread still and become encased in a cage of ice. Astrid kicked her enhanced legs and shot down. The monster darted straight for her, but it didn’t know Astrid had eyes on the back of her head.

The matter surrounding the beast exploded once more as it was struck to the side, only for another to rock its body. Blood trailed from its nose. Astrid wasted no time as repeated [Crashes] tore the monsters inside into mush, but it seemed it wasn’t ready to give up.

The spawn serpent descended without a moment's hesitation as a [Crash] exploded with no target in sight. It had disappeared into the deep, dark depths of the river. Even with dark vision activated, it was difficult to make out anything that was down there.

A deep cold entered Astrid’s matter empowered body. Flecks of ice floated up. As they brushed up against her shield, the mana within them flared. Like an explosive Skill, it blasted her Mind Barrier until tiny fractures covered the surface. They were faint, and it would take a few more for it to properly crack, but it made Astrid aware they weren’t to be taken lightly.

Another Skill? Like mines? Astrid thought.

More were approaching. Some of them even suddenly increased in speed as they impacted against her shield.

Astrid realised that she was a sitting duck, but she had no intentions of escaping. She didn’t want to let the monster get away with attacking her. So down into the depths she went.

Using Psych Domain, she narrowly avoided most of the ice mines. Astrid was forced to reduce the size of her barrier as it was simply too large to avoid the attacks. But it also made her barrier stronger–more durable.

She merely had it just over her skin and no more as the mines were becoming increasingly intense. Through the darkness, Astrid spotted hundreds of glowing blue blocks.

Swimming closer, the monster was laying on the floor, trembling. Each shake of its body sent one of the crystalised blocks of ice on its back, up to the surface.

Astrid didn’t know whether the monster doubted she would follow it, or if it held another trick up its sleeve. She held no sympathy for the monster as she pulled its eyes open with Psychokinesis, then tugged at its eyes.

Despite her greatly increased control over Eyeball Pulling, it strained her mind. Did she need to weaken the beast further? The thought entered her mind before blasting the beast with a few more [Crashes]. As they impacted the ice on the monsters back, the explosion sent fragments of ice shooting through the water like shrapnel.

They scattered against her barrier as the monster groaned in pain. It glared at her with blood red eyes–irritated from having them almost yanked out of its skull.

Its back shone a frigid light once more, the ice fragments that had penetrated its body glowed, then shot upward.

Astrid blocked the hit, although it penetrated through two of her barriers, before piercing halfway on the third. [Crashing] its body a few more times, the monster finally offered up its eyes. Although that may have been an illusion within her eyes. With a pull, they were yanked from the monster's skull.

No surprise, the new Transcendent Skill was slow to Level up. She did expect it, but having something slow down was always a disappointment.

Astrid slumped her shoulders. Before she absorbed the eyes of the beast, Astrid touched the body with Disintegration in mind. The body turned black with stats, then, it simply just disappeared.

That will take some getting used to. Astrid thought before finally absorbing the eye.

Dominating Sovereigns Eye has extracted the Skill - Ice Blood - From the Spawn Serpent.

Ice Blood: The ice element has rooted itself within your very blood. Any magic attack you use will be imbued with the power of ice. Scales with Intelligence.

Would you like to merge with - Ice Blood Y/N?

Astrid, without hesitation, swapped it out for the old Ice Touch Skill. After all, it was a straight up upgrade in every way.

The fact that the stronger enemy she killed, provided her with even more powerful Skills filled her with a giddy excitement. If she managed to slay the leviathan and steal its eyeballs, what kind of mighty Skill would she receive from that?

The endless possibilities only made her desire for battle greater.

She was about to sink in her System for the Weightless Levitation Stage 3 upgrade, when more spawn were swimming straight for her. With the strongest spawn dead, along with its presence, must have attracted the others in the area.

Astrid welcomed it, after all, she had a new Skill to test out.

Amassing the matter in the water once more, this time it felt different. There was never a temperature involved with controlling matter. However, this time it was cold. It seemed to calm her mind, but her fighting spirit only grew. Nothing could impede it.

[Crashing] the matter, the usual explosion took place, and scattered body parts from the nearby spawn. But this time, a spiky ball of ice blasted from where the Skill took place a second later.

With the spawn dead, Astrid kicked her legs until she resurfaced from the water. She gave up on the idea of entering her System again as specs of matter encroached her from all over the place.

It seemed the inhabitants of the chasm had finally awoken.

“Let’s go then.” Astrid, despite being soaked from the chilly water, was pumped.
