Chapter 1415 Returning the Favor novelbin

“Hehehe…” Anthony suddenly let out a howl of laughter that echoed through the cemetery. He looked at the photo on the tombstone, shaking his head, but his laughter was so wild that tears streamed down his face. “You women, are you all heartless like this?”

Kisa, who was leaning on her crutches, was taken aback by the sudden outburst of laughter. She scowled and crouched down to meet Anthony’s gaze. “We are heartless because you men hurt us first,” she shot back in a low growl.

“Athadale isn’t a very nice place, and I don’t think Lea would like it here. Take her ashes with you and go. She loved the mountains that touch the sky, the rivers that flow freely, and the grasslands that stretch far and wide. But Athadale was never her cup of tea. It hurts to imagine her ashes stuck here, amid all this sorrow.”

Anthony’s his expression lit up. “Take her away?”

“Yes, live your life to the fullest and show her all the beautiful sights this world has to offer.”

Anthony looked down at Lea’s photo once again and nodded slowly. “Okay. I’ll do it.”

Kisa let out a sigh of relief. She did not like Anthony, but she owed him her life. After all, it was his intel that helped Gilbert find her in the collapsed basement. So, in a way, she was returning the favor by helping him now. Besides, considering the agonizing love Lea had endured, it was only fair that Anthony should spend the rest of his life in remorse for his misdeeds.

As she was about to leave, she turned to Anthony and asked once again about Adrien’s situation. Unfortunately, even Anthony did not know Adrien’s background or why he would go after her and Gilbert. It seemed that Adrien’s secrets were truly hidden deep away.

As she made her way down the hill, Kisa was lost in thought. She was so distracted that she did not notice someone standing in her path until she bumped into him.

Looking up, she was surprised to see Adrien staring down at her.

Kisa’s heart skipped a beat. ‘Adrien is here at the cemetery too? Was he here all along, or did those two bodyguards fail to complete their task and inform him to come?’

Kisa’s heart raced as she turned to Adrien and asked with a mix of curiosity and suspicion, “Uncle Adrien, what brings you here?”

Adrien shot her a meaningful glance before replying, “I came specifically to find you.

Kisa was taken aback. “Me? How’d you know I was here?” She wondered if Adrien had her under surveillance.

Adrien chuckled. “I heard Mr. Kooper is taking you back to Calthon tomorrow, and I figured since your friend is buried here, you would want to pay her a visit before you leave. So I thought I’d try my luck and see if I could catch you here.”

Kisa nodded, pretending to understand. “So, Uncle Adrien, is there something you need from me?”

Adrien shook his head. “No urgent matter. I just wanted to check if your injuries were healing properly,” he said, casting a glance at her bandaged leg.

Kisa smiled. “It’s nothing serious. My leg just needs some rest.”

Adrien nodded, but Kisa could see a glimmer of something in his eyes. She decided to play along and see where it led. “By the way, Uncle Adrien, I just saw Anthony up there.”

Adrien’s smile faltered for a moment before he regained his composure. “The Mullen family is looking for him everywhere, and he’s hiding right here. Who would’ve thought?”

Kisa could not help but be amused by Adrien’s acting skills. ‘If he didn’t know Anthony was here, how could he have sent his henchmen to kill him and silence him for good?’

Adrien was a master of deception, but Kisa knew how to act too. She put on a mournful expression and said, “You know, Uncle Adrien, Anthony has gone mad.”
