Chapter 1416 – He Really Laid His Hands on You?

Adrien’s expression suddenly became serious, and he seemed to have trouble believing Kisa’s words. “He’s gone mad?”

Kisa nodded solemnly. “Yes, it seems that my friend’s death was too much for him to handle. He mistook me for my friend, and then suddenly treated me like an enemy. He nearly choked me to death. It was a struggle to escape. From what I’ve heard, he’s given away all the inheritance that Mr. Mullen Sr. left him. It looks like he has gone mad.”

Adrien looked at her for a few seconds, took a drag from his cigarette, pondering over Kisa’s words. “I never thought that someone like him could go crazy over a woman.”

“Perhaps he loved her deeply. Even bad people have emotions and desires. Don’t they?”

Adrien nodded, but his smile seemed forced.

Kisa sighed. “I’ve already contacted the Mullen family. We’ll see if they come to find him. It’s sad that he’s gone mad like this.”

She looked up at the hill and then turned to Adrien. “Uncle Adrien, would you like to go up and see him? He’s still up there, guarding my friend’s grave.” novelbin

“No, I don’t think he would want to be disturbed,” Adrien replied as he helped Kisa to her feet.” Let’s go. I’ll take you down the hill. By the way, how did you get here with your leg injury? Wasn’t Mr. Kooper worried about you alone?”

‘Alone?’ Kisa’s heart sank. ‘Could Gilbert have really left?’ She replied, “Gilbert brought me here.

Didn’t you see him when you came up just now?”

Adrien’s eyes narrowed. “No, I didn’t. That’s strange. I wonder where he went.

As they descended the mountain, Kisa couldn’t shake off the feeling that something wasn’t quite right. Gilbert had promised to be there for her, but he had left her alone when she needed him the most. She wondered if he had his own reasons for leaving.

Adrien’s face showed a clear moment of confusion before he said, “Nope, when I arrived, there was no one at the entrance and no cars either.”

Kisa lowered her eyes, confirming that Gilbert had indeed left. Glancing at her watch, she realized an hour had passed. ‘That heartless man has given me half an hour and stuck to it, leaving me all alone!’

“Kisa, did Mr. Kooper really leave? How could he leave you here in this graveyard all by yourself? The sun is about to set, and what if something dangerous happens?” Adrien exclaimed with concern.

Kisa smirked sarcastically and said, “I told you before, he has no feelings for me. I saw his first love in the Mullen residence’s basement, and she’s nowhere to be found now. He probably hid her away. He took me out of that basement to torture me in other ways, wanting to make my life worse than death. Uncle Adrien, you have no idea what I’ve been through these past few days.”

Kisa’s face quickly showed a mix of sadness and anger. “Ever since he found out that I wanted

revenge and planned to kill him, he’s been so erratic and abusive. That day, he even yanked out my hair, and my scalp still has a scab from it.” Kisa showed him the scab on her scalp, the one Gilbert had caused when he grabbed her hair. She only felt the pain and never realized it had bled.

Adrien looked grave and asked, “He really laid his hands on you?”

“Of course, he is keeping me close just to torture me. Uncle Adrien, do you really think I can earn his trust with how he’s treating me?”

Adrien patted her shoulder and said, “Let’s stick around for a bit and see. After all, he holds quite a bit of power now, and if we want to get back at him, we’ll have to think of other ways instead of confronting him head-on.”
