David had barely finished speaking when a familiar voice echoed through the doorway, sending a jolt through Kisa's body. She spun around to see Gilbert standing there, but he paid her no attention. Instead, his eyes were fixed on Madalyn with a look of panic.

"I'm here. Let my grandma go," Gilbert barked at David.

David snickered. "You've got it all twisted. I didn't bring you here to bargain for her freedom."

Gilbert's brow furrowed, and his eyes turned icy. "If you lay a hand on my grandma, we'll both go down in flames."

David let out a chuckle. "Wow, talk about family ties."

Madalyn clutched David's arm, pleading with him, "David, please don't do this. It was my fault. Forgive him, forgive yourself. Let me take the blame. Please, let him go.”

"Enough!" David brushed her off in indignation.

Madalyn backed away, and Gilbert quickly rushed over to support her. He glared at David.

"What do you want? Spit it out. Even if you want my life, I'll give it to you, but let my grandma go."

"Don't do it, Gilbert. What happened in the past is my burden to bear." Madalyn begged.

David watched their family bond for a moment before lighting up a cigarette and chuckling softly, "Do you really think I'm that ruthless? Did I bring you all here just to kill you?"

Gilbert scowled, baffled by the stranger's words and his uncanny familiarity. He could not figure out what David wanted. But Kisa's heart was racing. She remembered David's words, how he promised to

strike a heavy blow against Gilbert. David was a wild card, and it made her anxious.

David exhaled a puff of smoke, sneering. "I brought you all here to make you suffer. Who said anything about killing you? If you all died, then my revenge would be pointless."

But the more David spoke, the more Madalyn became anxious and fearful.

She snapped at him, "What's your endgame? The Kooper family can give you everything. What more do you want?"

David gave Gilbert a knowing look and said in a low voice, "When Damon was alive, I was his shadow. I could only have bean everything he didn't want. And now that my son Jensen has joined the Kooper family, he follows in my footsteps. He can't compete with Gilbert for anything, not even women. And since you only care about them and no one else, I will make sure they suffer for a lifetime. Damon may be gone, but Gilbert's still here. My goal is not only to get revenge on Christopher and Carolyn, but to make Gilbert suffer for the rest of his life."

David's eyes glittered with malice as he looked at Gilbert. Madalyn was terrified and clung to Gilbert's hand.

He tried to calm her down and said coolly to David, "Do your worst. What is worse than death?"

David let out a cold chuckle and abruptly pulled Kisa toward him.

She stumbled, catching Gilbert's eye for a fleeting moment before he turned away, his stony profile oozing aloofness.

Kisa lowered her gaze, waiting anxiously for David's next move. David took a drag of his cigarette and smirked at Gilbert, "Do you know why your grandma suddenly stopped you from seeing this woman?"
