Chapter 1522

Gilbert furrowed his brow, and his eyes darted toward Madalyn, who was now white as a sheet. She frantically shook her head at

David and pleaded, "No, don't say it..."

David only laughed harder.

The more terrified Madalyn became, the more David relished in her fear. He turned to Gilbert and said, "Because, you know what?

This woman is the one who killed your biological parents."

"Biological parents?" Gilbert mumbled, his mind conjuring up gruesome and gory images. His head pounded with a cacophony of sharp, piercing sounds, and his scalp tightened with every beat of his heart.

He held his head in agony, struggling to catch his breath, as Madalyn clung onto him, desperately trying to comfort him. " Gilbert, don't think about it, don't think about it. It's going to be okay. Everything will pass."

But David only sneered at Gilbert's pain and misery. "Did you really think you could escape the truth about your parents' tragic deaths? Your mother loved you so much that she held you until her dying breath. And your father? Well, let's just say his death was beyond brutal..."

Kisa's anger flared, and she could not bear to listen any longer.

"Enough!" she roared. "Look, he and his parents have done nothing wrong to you, or to Jensen for that matter. Yet you're using the death of Gilbert's parents to hurt him. Don't you think that's going too far?

Don't you feel any remorse for their deaths?"

The final sentence seemed to hit a nerve with David, as a momentary glimmer of emotion flashed across his eyes. But it was quickly drowned out by a wild, seething hatred.

"All my life's tragedy began with Damon," he snarled, his voice dripping with malice.

"Stop right there! Your tragic story has nothing to do with him or even my mom. You're just stuck in a rut, unwilling to let go of your own past and unable to accept the love of those around you. You constantly play the victim, feeling sorry for yourself and blaming the world for your problems. It's a self- destructive mentality that's costing you your own happiness. If only you had taken my mother and left when you had the chance, maybe things would have turned out differently. And let's not forget Miss Mullen. If only you had chosen to spend your life with her, you could have found your own happiness —"

"Shut your mouth!" David roared, his eyes burning with fury. "

Don't you dare mention that woman's name! I risked my life to come back for her, but she was too busy playing house with Christopher, enjoying his wealth and status. She's nothing but a shallow, vain, and selfish woman who betrayed me. How dare you twist the truth.”

"That's not what happened. My mom—"

"You're all a bunch of selfish, lying hypocrites, pretending to be the victims when you're the ones who caused all the trouble. It makes me sick! Damon and Emilia are gone, but you're all still here, living your lives. People like you don't deserve to be happy."

David laughed wickedly, his eyes filled with nothing but pure hatred.

Gilbert gasped for air, his head throbbing with sharp pain. Gory images kept swirling around his mind, sometimes clear, sometimes blurry. And amidst it all, he could hear a gentle voice calling out to him incessantly —it was his mother's voice.

He pressed his fingers against his temples, his eyes turning bloodshot with rage. "Tell me, how did my parents die?"

"No... don't say it, David," Madalyn shook her head repeatedly at David.

But David just grinned, laughing like a bloodthirsty demon. He looked at Kisa with a deep, meaningful stare that sent shivers down her spine.
