Vol. 6 - Chapter 305 - Rina’s New ‹Master-Planner Princess› Equipment! Let’s Learn About Coordination!
“Ah, these equipments looks good on you, Rina!”
“Thank you for your praise! I had finally received equipment for rear-guard from my family. You’re the first one to see it.”
Rina says that and twirls on the spot, her lavender ringlets gently following the pattern. She looks to be quite happy.
Rina had been using equipment meant for front-liners until now since she had acquired a ‹Captain› job and only had that equipment. However she seemed to have urged her family for the rear-guard purpose equipment after she changed her job to ‹Master-Planner Princess›.
Back to the present, those equipment seemed to have arrived just the other day.
Today is the first time she is trying them. She looked quite happy with her face, err, flushed red. Probably due to excitement I guess?
Anyway, equipment explanation time
Rina’s equipment can’t be explained in simple words.
Her outfit was a complete Princess ensemble, imitating the regal attire of a female general, with the game’s unique brilliant white undertone.
She is dressed in white brimless beret, white and gold undertone clothes that highlight the lines of her body and a breastplate equipped over them. On her lower body was a mini azure skirt and thigh high leg equipment, grieves. The grieves, too, have a white undertone.
There are also some other small pieces of equipment. Overall, the entire equipment set exudes not only strength but also elegance.
Her image was further reinforced by the weapon which is also a set with her equipment.
That weapon was a complete flip from the previous makeshift equipment she was using. It was as big as Rina’s height, in fact it was so big one could mistake it to be a big machine gun that fires beams rather than bullets. Further enhancing that image was the shoulder strap attached to support the gun, allowing it to be set in parallel with the waist for shooting.
The development team really didn’t cut corners in the design despite it being beginner equipment. Its majesty wasn’t something other equipment could hope to mimic.
Ahem, Rina currently looks super cool in one word!
“I bet it should be thrilling to use it.”
“I also want to try my equipment out quickly!”
“Nice spirit, then let’s not waste anymore time and move up!”
Rina had to initially return to the dormitory to collect her equipment after the meeting, though it’s now straight dungeon diving. We’re going to challenge ‹Battle Wolf of the Shallow Forest Dungeon› today, to battle wolves.
“‹Explosive Magic Bullet›! gooo!”
A shell shot out from the magic gun of Rina and exploded upon impact, engulfing the surroundings in it.
“Howl!?”
Wolves disappeared into the particles of effect after being caught up in the shockwaves from the explosion just when they let their guards down thinking they avoided direct impact.
Well that’s the tricky part about such attacks. Amen.
“Nice, let’s shift to another target now! Carefully study the pattern of ‹Leader Wolf› this time, got it?”
“Understood!”
Rina is improving at a fine rate.
Though we’re mainly here to study about the real time application of group manoeuvring methods like coordination and leadership instead of farming bosses.
"I have got the next opponent. Rina, try to read the opponent's movement this time without attacking. ‹Appeal›!"
"Okay!"
"It's not a win in the truest sense if you're winning just by applying buff. The essence of coordination is the deceit and surprise attack. Attacking one person while targeting someone else in the gap is the basics. So carefully look at the behavioural pattern of wolves led by ‹Leader Wolf›."
"Yes!"
"When it comes to coordination, the very first thought is obviously to make the best use of number advantage. It's the duty of the commander to turn a 2v2 situation into 2v1 by any means possible, it's where they actually shine."
"I got it!"
I guided Rina while dealing with the two wolves commanded by ‹Leader Wolf› in the lower layers.
I attracted their aggro towards me and handled their attack through the advantage of high level. I stopped counting how many times they bite me, though of course I wasn't being led around by them.
I,too, am improving my player's skill. That much is a piece of cake...... Ah, they bite again.
Exhale I have brought Rina today here to show her the abilities of wolves.
It's quite tough to achieve coordination in the ‹Battle Wolf of the Shallow Forest Dungeon› due to ‹Leadership›.
Recommended strategy to take down the monsters here is to either defeat the commander, ‹Leader Wolf› or divide and defeat its subordinate as soon as possible since letting it coordinate with other wolves would cost us some time.
Well the flip of that strategy is that the more you don't break their coordination, the more skillfully wolves show their coordination which can be a good reference, like now.
Rina seemed to have received the tutelage about tactics and strategy on her home back, however they're at best classroom lecture type so she was mostly out of touch with the real time application of them. Though understandable I guess, It would have been dangerous for her else before she had acquired the job.
That's why I am now having her learn from actual battles.
A complete difference from earlier when she blasted them out, Rina looked at the wolves with eager gaze this time, occasionally taking out a notepad to write on something as I continued to play with wolves.
I also felt like I may have grasped the method on how to deal against multiple opponents in a group. Yeah, definitely.
Though just observing the movement would bore the hell out so I asked Rina to try out her weapon in between and carved out a way out.
We reached the final floor when the clock was ticking 3:00 p.m. and I decided to wrap up the things for today after the boss fight.
Arriving there, I was surprised to see multiple parties going through preparation in the safety area just when I was thinking of knocking on the door of the final boss.
There were even three girls from the same class, ‹Combat Department Year-1 Class-1›, who also attended my lectures if I'm not wrong. They, too, seemed to have noticed us as they waved their hands to us. We exchanged greetings with each other.
"Hello, Zephyr-kun!"
"Yo?, we met tomorrow. Are you guys going to challenge ‹Battle Wolf› now? You're fast."
"Yup. It's thanks to Zephyr-sensei that we feel pumped up! We're going to challenge the ‹Battle Wolf› with everything we have!"
"It's all due to Zephyr-sensei, thank you very much."
Zephyr-sensei, it kind of sounds nice.
They seemed to be friends with the other two girls at the party and I remember seeing them in my lecture.
I was surprised to hear that they had formed a party after meeting in my lecture. This is going to be their first battle against ‹Battle Wolf›.
They're quite a talent to already be at this level, being a freshman and all and yet already defeating the ‹Leader Wolf› that posses ‹Leader› skill.
They all seemed to be nice potential candidates for Eden so I decided to note down their names. Three of them are classmates so I already know their names. I just need to ask the name of the other two girls from the ‹Raccoon-kin› and ‹Baron› category.
"Can you two tell me your name if you don't mind?"
"I-I-I-It would be my pleasure! I'm Lacritte from ‹Combat Department Year-1 Class-8›! Nice to meet you!!"
"Geez, you're being too tense, Lacritte-chan. I'm Noel, from the same class as Lacreta-chan, it would be our pleasure if you remember us."
"Of course, Lacritte and Noel, I have firmly remembered your names."
The ‹Raccoon-kin› Lacritte stood at attention and turned nervous when I called out to them. In contrast to her, the ‹Baron› Noel had a unique vibe to her as she appeared calm from beginning to end.
I firmly jolted down their name in the notepad of my mind.
I bid my goodbye and returned to Rina's side after exchanging a few words and cheering them for their boss battle.
"Zephyr-san sure take their sweet time."
"Ack, my bad. They are taking my classes so it would have been discourtesy to ignore them."
"Sigh, i forgive you this time, but please don't forget I'm also there next time."
I somehow managed Rina into forgiving me who was slightly pouring to be left alone for the duration.
My curiosity got the best of me seeing freshmen in their first term already appearing out to fight the boss which was an incredible fact to me. I am also able to find some capable candidates due to that, though it seems I have to be careful from next time.
"Hn?"
As I scanned my surroundings again, my gaze fell upon another group nearby, they were anything but newbies from their appearance.
All of them appeared to be upperclassmen, 3rd year probably? Or not, they might be graduates.
They were huddled in a distant place instead of lining up for the boss battle. What's more I also got a familiar feeling when my gaze crossed with the leader looking woman, so I called out to them.
