Chapter 105: Millionaire
Chapter 105: Millionaire
Xu Feng found out how surreal it was to be able to become a millionaire within a few days after the launch of the Divine World.
It was just like yesterday he was still a poor man, who had exhausted his life savings of 5,700 dollars.
And now he transformed into a wealthy man who could treat 5,700 dollars as some small chunk.
'Hah, the Divine World really is the place to get rich.' Xu Feng exclaimed inwardly.
Compared to those white collars office workers, making a measly salary of 200-350k annually, Xu Feng could literally make those in one business deal.
Naturally, it was not an easy feat to get this far either. It required meticulous planning and targeting the correct people to do business.
"Look at you being smug. Something good happened, right?" Zhao Kai suddenly teased Xu Feng.
Although nothing was visible, he had a feeling that something good must have happened that caused his previous outburst.
"Maybe it is or maybe it isn't," Xu Feng responded with a shrug. There was no need to reveal his new wealth status as a millionaire.
After all, being rich was a sin if one could not protect their wealth or their safety. Additionally, he received an email from the bank in charge of his statement that they required his presence for some documentation.
It made sense since a penniless person suddenly became a millionaire in such a short period was suspicious.
However, since the sender of this money was from influential people, these bankers didn't dare to lock his account, lest they might offend someone who was actually a secret boss.
Thus, they wanted his presence to confirm things.
'As usual, these bankers only know how to act properly when the customers are rich or influential.' Xu Feng sneered inwardly.
Sometime later, the two rested enough as they were ready to obtain the other three remaining materials: Shadow Wolf Pelts, Pyrite Drake Scales, and Ironwood Treant Bark.
"Should we search for the Shadow Wolves first, Feng?" Zhao Kai suggested.
"We fought them before, so we have experience on how to counter and attack them." He added, seemingly eager to kill some more wolves.
However, Xu Feng shook his head and rejected the idea.
"No, those Shadow Wolves we encounter are merely the scout. With our current level and skill set, it's going to be difficult to fight them, especially if we encounter the true attack squad." He explained, warning him of the danger.
At the same time, Xu Feng wanted to ensure Zhao Kai wouldn't be complacent and believed he was powerful after handling a few monsters with ease. While they were busy improving, the other players weren't idling around either.
With the rush and urgency that he sensed from Herald Fist's message, Xu Feng feared that Gentle Wind might have gotten a huge head start— something he did not anticipate to happen.
His extensive guide was indeed nice, but it was not meant to be 100% successful.
Yet it seemed like that didn't matter much, given Gentle Wind must be gaining tons of experience while leading her members in upgrading their gears.
The Scorched Caverns equipment could last players till level 15, so it was very viable and profitable for Gentle Wind to farm the dungeon to the maximum limit.
By checking on the level leaderboard, Xu Feng could see the current highest player level was 8, which was quite impressive, considering the experience points required for each level were multiplied by a lot.
Even now, Zhao Kai was still stuck at level 5 with barely 5% of the experience points bar completed.
Of course, the level leaderboard only showcased players who wished to reveal themselves, so it was merely a reference. Some could actually be above level 8 already but decided to go lowkey.
As for Xu Feng, he could only smile bitterly at the insane debuff implemented by the system. 'I truly underestimated the punishment from the system. This debuff is really not good.'
Initially, Xu Feng scoffed at the pathetic punishment, but now he realized how erroneous his judgment was.
His only hope in leveling up was to complete the mission from Fiona. After all, these monsters' experience points were practically nonexistent for him.
"Hey, Feng, I know you have a lot in mind, but can you stop ignoring me?" Zhao Kai suddenly popped up in front of him and spoke with an annoyed tone.
"You can't just treat me as empty air right after using me to do the most damage, okay?"
"Aren't I thinking about which monsters to focus first?" Xu Feng rolled his eyes.
"Don't you have any patience?" He added, clearly unwilling to admit the fact that he was merely pondering over his situation instead.
Since Zhao Kai didn't know the actual truth, he scratched his head and laughed awkwardly.
"Haha, is that so? Then I'll just resume eating." He quickly returned to stuffing himself and patiently waited.
Meanwhile, Xu Feng decided to ponder the monsters they should go after.
The Pyrite Drakes were extremely tough— even more durable than the Stonehide Boars. It would be extremely time-consuming to spend their effort trying to kill 50 of them at their current level.
Hence, the only viable option left was the Ironwood Treant.
However, there were two problems regarding the Ironwood Treant.
One, they looked no different than any ordinary trees, and the worst part was that the game design ensured you would never be able to guess randomly.
To summarize, no matter which ordinary trees you hit, there won't be any health bar indicating, even if one of them was actually an Ironwood Treant in disguise.
This problem could be resolved though through some clever tricks in checking the defenses of the tree itself when attacking. Although there were only some brief distinctive changes, a player could detect it if they were truly focused on it.
The second problem was the real concern. The Ironwood Treant had no offensive ability whatsoever, but their defensive ability was over the top.
Turning around and looking at the relaxed Zhao Kai, he suddenly fixed his glasses and held a wide grin.
'I'll just make it seem like a training aim exercise and have him waste his time killing them.'
