Chapter 84 Boss (2)
Chapter 84 Boss (2)
?Liam evaded the harpoon that crashed into the ground while holding onto his sunglasses and the two potions that had materialized in his hand.
[2x?Reinforced Arcaniua Potion (C- Rank)?, and?Superior Darkan Sunglasses(E- Rank)? have been purchased. 25 Arcanium have been deducted!]
By now, Liam's fortune had decreased to less than 50 Arcanium. That hurt painfully but it had been a necessary investment. Liam didn't regret having bought anything. He could sell the corpses of the Canine Shedims and the Mutant Elite Shedims once the battle was over and regain some of his wealth.
As for the Shedim Champion Boss, its corpse alone was already worth a fortune. Its hide, claws, and most of the parts of its body could be turned into Circleless A-grade armaments as long as they were bought by Artisans who knew what they were doing.
Even if that wouldn't be enough to make up for the price he had to pay to acquire all the items he currently owned, Liam was not worried about that right now. He wanted nothing more than to kill the Shedim Champion and finish his conquest of his little sister's underground tower.
He wanted to see her suffer, no matter how tiny and negligible the sting would be. That was how petty Liam was!
He swallowed the contents of the two Reinforced Arcaniua Potions while a bunch of pebbles of basalt flung through the surroundings, hitting him in the back and legs.
Liam ignored the pain and looked over to the huge harpoon that had been thrown deep inside the basalt floor of the final hall. A chain was attached to the lower end of the harpoon. Liam noticed that only now and he rushed to hold onto the harpoon's shaft. He was about to grab it but was a second too late before it was pulled out of the ground and retracted with a single powerful pull.
Looking over to the back of the Shedim Champion, Liam began to frown. He could clearly see that the Arcane Kunai was having some problems cutting deep inside the flesh of the Shedim Champion. While it was not further difficult to damage and injure the Boss Monster as long as he was aiming at the rotten spots that were missing some flesh and the scales with their highly endurable defense, it was difficult for the Arcane Kunai to cut through the scales and sink its blade further into the flesh without any momentum.
Generating momentum would drain too much Arcane Power, which would result in the Arcane Kunai's power drying up even before it cut the Shedim Champion twice.
Liam realized this problem only now which is why he retracted the Arcane Kunai while he was pulled closer to the Shedim Champion. The Boss Monster had yet to find him again now that the dazzling light had dispersed once more. It didn't expect Liam to hold onto the harpoon's shaft, let alone to see him prepared to fight in the air while clinging to the Boss Monster's body.
Liam jumped over to the Shedim Champion the moment the harpoon closed the distance to the Lesser Demon. He was climbing up the body of the Shedim as if he was a squirrel that climbed over the body of a human child.
At first, the Shedim Champion was so distracted by its rage and the intention to find Liam on the ground that it didn't even notice him. But things changed the moment Liam climbed up further and reached the back of the Boss Monster. He didn't show any hesitation as one of his hands turned into long and razor-sharp claws. The claws enlarged his fingers by more than ten centimeters, which was more than enough to tear the Shedim Champion apart, slowly and steadily.
While his left hand had turned into a deadly claw, his right hand grasped the Arcane Kunai tightly. He created the necessary momentum to pierce the Arcane Kunai deep into the Shedim's back. His claw carved through the scales of the Lesser Demon as well. It caused his claws to bleed as he injured himself by cutting his claws against the razor-sharp edges of the black scales.
However, that was not something Liam chose to pay attention to. He continued climbing up over the massive broad back of the Shedim Champion until he reached its shoulder blades from where the wings jutted out.
Slashing, stabbing, and thrusting his claw and the Arcane Kunai at the right wing while holding onto the left to make sure that he wouldn't fall down from a height of ten meters to the ground, Liam caused a bloody massacre.
The Shedim Champion roared out in pain, realizing that Liam had somehow gotten onto his back. A numbing sensation was already spreading through its right wing and it was having difficulties rising up in the air to take flight. But Liam continued to attack its back as the monster howled in pain. It was not flexible enough to reach Liam with its claws.
The harpoon had returned to its right which left it only with its left claws to attempt to reach Liam. But, it didn't work out no matter how much the Shedim Champion tried. Shaking its body provided no results either. Thus, as the damage caused to his back and the right wing was getting too much to endure, the Shedim Champion gave up on the attempt to stay in the air.
Instead, it moved its backside to the ground while its feet pushed its two-ton heavy body away from the ceiling. The heavy Lesser Demon smashed to the ground with a ridiculous speed, intention to drag Liam to his death by being squashed under its weight.
However, Liam didn't fancy becoming Ludwig 2.0 and getting smashed into a pulp. His Devil's Eyes were able to decipher what was going on in the Boss Monster's mind even before it had fully initiated the devilish plan to squash him.
Thus, he made use of his claws and the Arcane Kunai, and hurriedly crawled upon the neck of the Shedim Champion Boss the moment it pushed its feet away from the ceiling. Liam jumped, not caring that he would fall more than ten meters to the ground. He was too focused on his survival to care about spraining his ankle.
A ten meter jump was not something that would kill him, especially not after he used the last remnants of Arcane Power inside the Arcane Kunai to blast upward a millisecond before he was about to crash onto the ground. The pull of the Arcane Kunai reduced the impact of his fall, allowing him to have a softer landing than the Shedim Champion that just crashed into the ground.
At least his body didn't create the sound of several bones breaking.
The same couldn't be said about the Lesser Demon, whose wings were clearly disfigured as it was weakly trying to get up from the ground.
Meanwhile, Liam smiled grimly.
"You're a piece of work, aren't you?"
