Chapter 164 Jealous

Nancy turned around, forcing a smile as she asked, “Is there anything else you need, ma’am?”

“I noticed that you looked familiar. What’s your name?” the woman asked in an elegant tone.

“Mom?” Julian spoke up, sounding a bit impatient.

The woman shot him a sharp look, and he immediately fell silent, refraining from saying anything

else.

“My name is Nancy Cohen, ma’am.”

What a coincidence. The woman’s eyes instantly lit up with excitement. However, she still made an effort to contain herself, patiently asking, “Could you please tell me how to spell your name?”

“Nancy, N-A-N-C-Y. Cohen, C-O-H-E-N.”

It matches perfectly. It seems like she is indeed that child. Well, this is quite fortunate, and it didn’t take much effort at all. The woman was somewhat excited but managed to suppress it.

Once Nancy left, the woman immediately turned to Julian. “This young lady looks good. She’s also from your hospital, so you should put in some effort.”

“Mom, do you hear yourself? We don’t even know each other.”

The woman gave him a disdainful look. “Don’t you know each other now? She just mentioned that her name is Nancy, and she is a new employee at your hospital. You’re the director. Pursuing an employee should be easy for you. It will be effortless.”

Julian was growing annoyed. “This discussion ends here. You’re going crazy thinking about having a daughter-in-law.”

Still, the woman stubbornly argued, “No, I’ve decided I want Nancy to be my daughter-in-law. I won’t accept anyone else.”

Julian was left speechless. After a heated argument, he ended up leaving first, leaving the woman sitting

alone.

She looked towards Nancy’s direction and took out her phone to snap a photo, then sent it to someone. After that, she made a call. “I’ve found the girl. Compare the picture and see if it’s her. Also, find out who the man next to her is. Investigate both of them for me. Remember, be quick. This is very important; we can’t afford any delays.”

“Yes, Madam.”

Outside the hospital, Nicholas hadn’t left. He had been waiting since Nancy and Christian had entered. the building. As minutes passed, Nicholas couldn’t help but glance at his watch, growing increasingly restless. He wondered, What are they doing? They’ve been there for so long and still haven’t come out.

After waiting for about half an hour, he couldn’t take it anymore. He had run out of patience and strode inside, but just as he reached the hospital entrance, he saw Nancy and Christian walking towards

him. They seemed to be chatting and laughing about something. Nicholas’ discomfort grew as he watched them.

Seeing that they were about to reach the entrance, he quickly went out again. Once they reached the entrance, Nicholas retrieved his phone to call Nancy. “Hey, it’s me.”

“I know. Do you need something?” Her voice was very calm.

He was not one to back down, so he immediately said in a haughty tone, “Not really. I just happened to be at the hospital and thought you might be finishing work soon. I wanted to ask if you wanted a ride back.”

“Thank you for your kind offer, Mr. Sallow, but it seems we’re not going the same way. Besides, we’re not heading to the same home.”

“I can- Nicholas’ words were cut off as Nancy hung up. As he heard the beep on the other end of the line, frustration welled up inside him, and his fists clenched tightly. But what was even more agonizing was the sight of Nancy getting into Christian’s Jeep just moments later.

Instantly, Nicholas’ eyes turned crimson, and he clenched his fists even tighter. Very well. She says she’s not on the same route as me, but is she on the same route as Christian? As far as he knew, Christian’s current. location was even farther from Nancy’s and even less convenient for him to send her back.

In the car, she quietly gazed out the window. Her expression was calm, showing no signs of emotional fluctuation. However, she had become silent since receiving Nicholas’ call, which showed she was clearly affected by it.

“Did you have a fight with him?” Christian spoke up while waiting at the red light.

“Huh?” Nancy was momentarily taken aback. Then, she realized that, aside from the people around her, others probably didn’t know that she had divorced Nicholas. Thinking about it, she thought there was no need to explain anything.

“Don’t worry too much. There are bound to be disagreements between spouses. Once the conflicts are resolved, things will naturally improve, Christian comforted her.

Nancy looked over. When she saw his perfectly chiseled features, she couldn’t help but sigh. Deep inside, she thought of something and said it aloud, “If you were to get married, you would surely wholeheartedly devote yourself to your wife. I can imagine that your wife would be very happy.”

Christian smiled but didn’t say anything.

While passing the traffic light, Nancy pointed and said, “Turn left.”

He asked, surprised, “Did you move?”

Embarrassed to say she had moved out alone while Nicholas stayed at their original home, she only managed to let out a soft hum.

When they arrived downstairs, Nancy got out of the car. However, a Jeep had a higher chassis, which caused her to twist her foot, when she got down accidentally. “Ahh—” she yelped.

Christian immediately rushed over from the driver’s seat and supported her. He asked with concern,

“Are you okay?”

“I think I twisted my foot. It hurts a bit, she said, her delicate brows slightly furrowed.

“Don’t move. Let me carry you back.”

Hearing the word “carry,” Nancy was a little frightened and immediately shook her head, declining, “No, it’s fine. I can manage. I just need to walk slower.”

He also realized that his words weren’t quite appropriate and quickly changed the topic. “Ill call your husband to come pick you up, or I can help you go upstairs.”

After considering it, Nancy compromised, “Alright, help me get upstairs.”

“Okay.”

Nicholas had just gotten out of the car and saw Christian supporting Nancy as they slowly made their way inside. Despite their mutual support, it appeared as if Christian was shouldering most of her weight, practically carrying her along.

This is ridiculous! Nicholas had been following her since he got off work, which was getting increasingly frustrating. He got out and leaned against the car after seeing they had gone upstairs. He smoked aimlessly, one cigarette after another, purely just to pass the time.

After an unknown period of time sibly another half an hour, he caught sight of a familiar figure-

Christian was departing.

Once Christian’s car had disappeared, Nicholas discarded his cigarette butt and dialed Nancy’s number, but his tone was very direct, “Are you at home?”

“Yes. Her response was as concise as possible.

“Then come downstairs. I have something to tell you,” he stated.

“I decline.”

“Why? Why can you see Christian but not me? I saw you with him, and you appeared quite content.” Nicholas felt envious as he spoke.

“Can you be more reasonable? I sprained my ankle and am unable to move. How do you expect me to descend the stairs to see you?”
