Three minutes later, Nancy was surprised to see Nicholas standing outside when she opened the door. “What are you doing here?”

“Didn’t you hurt your leg?” Nicholas asked.

Initially, he was angry that she was out with Christian, but when he learned that she had injured her leg, all his anger disappeared. He simply wanted to see her as soon as possible to check on her injury.

Suddenly, Nancy was swept off her feet as Nicholas picked her up and carried her to the couch. In that moment, she realized that he knew her place better than his own. His sudden display of tenderness and consideration completely surprised her.

“Where did you hurt yourself? Let me see it.” Crouching down, he extended his hand to remove her bedroom slippers and examine her injury.

Hastily, Nancy pulled her legs back and said in embarrassment, “It’s alright. It just hurt a little when I twisted it, and I’ve already checked it. It’s not very serious.”

“What do you mean it’s not serious?” He insisted, grabbing her feet with a strong grip. Unable to move, Nancy could only let him remove her bedroom slippers.

Then, he removed her sock, revealing the injury on her ankle.

Instantly, his face fell, and his tone became more serious. “It’s discolored and swollen. How can you say it’s not serious?”

“I applied some medication earlier. It should be fine tomorrow morning once the swelling goes down.” she mumbled.

“It’s swollen to the size of a golf ball. Do you really think it will go down overnight?” he asked.

She sheepishly touched her nose, not saying anything.

“What medication did you use? Let me see it,” he requested.

She pointed to the balm on the table, and he picked it up to read the label before placing it back. Then, he called Lynn. “Bring me some common medication and effective balms. I’m at Nancy’s place.”

After the call ended, Lynn carefully considered what he had heard and its meaning. So, Mr. Sallow is at Ms. Nancy’s place? Well, that means he was in a hurry to leave today because he wanted to meet his wife. Adrenaline rushed through his veins at the thought. Looks like he’s going to reconcile with Ms. Nancy. I need to bring these medications over as soon as possible and not ruin things for Mr. Sallow.

Half an hour later, he knocked on Nancy’s front door, but it was Nicholas who opened it. Initially, he planned to greet Nicholas and chat a little, but Nicholas shut the door in his face and didn’t say a word. after taking the medical box from him.

Staring at the closed door, Lynn sighed. “My my, Mr. Sallow, I wanted to warn you because it looks like there might be a storm later” However, as he rode the elevator down, he reconsidered and thought it was best not to mention it.

rest.”

“I’ll walk you out.”

They walked to the door, and Nicholas opened it. Just as he was about to step out, an exceptionally loud thunderclap shook the sky as if it was going to tear it apart.

Instinctively, Nancy covered her ears, reminding Nicholas of her fear of thunder. “Are you scared?” he

asked.

“A little,” she honestly replied.

Nicholas shook his head.

“Wait a runute. I’ll get you an umbrella so you don’t get wet.”

“Okay.” In that moment, he desperately hoped that she wouldn’t be able to find an umbrella.

A few minutes later, Nancy reappeared and gave him a sheepish look. “I think I left my umbrella at your place that day.”

“Do you only have one umbrella at home?” he asked.

Nancy nodded. “Yes, that’s the only one.”

The wind howled outside as the rain poured down harder, and even the windows rattled from the heavy raindrops. Nancy looked worriedly at the situation. Suddenly, an idea struck her and she suggested, “Why don’t you call Lynn and ask her to bring an umbrella for you?”

Nicholas’ eyes lit up. “I’ll give it a try.”

As if Lynn had anticipated this, his phone was switched off. Seeing Nicholas put his phone away without saying a word, Nancy quickly asked, “What happened?”

“His phone is turned off.”
