Chapter 47 - Coming Late
Chapter 47 - Coming Late
All of the others were quick to act as well. Kristle who was already ever prepared gripped his axe all the more. Kristie and Bret charged in front of face the onslaught of these familiars and also to keep their archer safe. Dant was responsible for the rear guard.
"At least our weapons are effective on these beasts, whoah." Bret squeaked as another step taken by the giant turtle caused him to shake and stumble. The turtle was coming closer. Little by little, it approached like the reaper that came at one's death to take away their souls.
None of the members of the group had a skill or a class to their names. They fought helplessly against the giant beast's familiar using the crudest methods possible. If the humans of hell should have used their methods humanity would have long got wiped out.
"Screech," it bellowed again. The loud screech caused Kristie's attention to dart back on the beast. He gritted his teeth. The result at the last stage had left all of them weeping. If only he was stronger, if only he had fought more fiercely. Blair might be with him today. After losing his dear friend in such a pathetic way Kristie doesn't care any more, he just wants to gloriously fight on the battlefield without any regrets as if there was no tomorrow. So that even if he loses someone at this stage he can at least console himself that he gave his 100% to it.
"Guy's these are small fries, we have to attack the parent!" Kristie shouted calling out to his mates.
"My hands are already full, give me a bit of time," Bret shouted. These two being close to each other were the only ones who could properly communicate as the storm of Drus came at them in dozens. These Drus were easy to kill but they were just too many.
"If we don't kill the parent these things will continue to come at us and exhaust our stamina. Shit Dammit!" Kristie spat as in anger. His spit fell on one of the Drus's faces but it didn't seem to mind as it continued with its emotionless charge.
On the other side, the turtle was getting closer.
*Bam*
Its leg landed just next to Kirtle. Even from afar, he could feel the force. He squealed at the sudden appearance of the leg which could have squashed him if unlucky.
The turtle's pupils shifted to the corner of its eye. Kristie was reflected on them. More and more familiars charged at him. They ignored the other three as if controlled by the beast's thoughts charged towards Kristie. But, some did stay behind to keep those three busy.
Kristie was surrounded all around by beasts. He grabbed his axe with his hands as he gritted his speed.
"Hai"
He spun swinging his axe with centrifugal force around killing drus in the process. But the more he killed the more came at him. They walked over the dead bodies of their own kin to attack the poor Kristie. Some caught onto his shoulder and held onto him as he swung his axe. They hurled in the air while planting their suckers on his hands.
Kristie noticed this but, what could he do? They were sucking blood from him but all which he could do was fight the rest gallantly not minding the blood that he was losing. He had lost too much blood, he was tired and exhausted enough. That's the reason he wasn't able to dodge the incoming paw even though he noticed its charge.
Kristie sighed. He lowered his chin to his chest.
"It's over," he whispered as he knew what was going to happen to him.
*Bam*
*Squish*
The heavy turtle type beast stepped on the poor Kristie. His body was squished as his organs spewed out. The floor was puddled with his blood that had splashed in all direction and also painted the green paw red. The beast lifted its paw.
What was left of Kristie was a complete crush of his bones mashed with his flesh that was flattened to a pancake as the blood oozed out. There was nothing human about the dead body. It seemed like a foreign entity. It was cherried at the top with a grey entity which was possibly Kristie's grey matter.
But even after such a horrible death, his body was not given peace. The Drus grouped on him as they sucked his body dry of the blood. The ones who weren't able to approach it due to the crowd sucked the blood splashed onto the floor as if it was the most fragrant wine on the planet.
The others were still unaware of Kristie's death. Before they could notice, something much more mysterious caught their attention.
A speck of light appeared in the room as it started to grow more and more.
"Two monsters?" Verona was horrified at the worst possible outcome that might come to place. They weren't able to put up much of a fight against one beast let alone two. What would become of them if twice of these Drus monsters were to swarm at them?
"Oh god, what is this now?" Bret called out to his God. Whether someone heard him or not was a different question.
*Slash*
But that speck of light wasn't able to catch his attention for long as what he had to do doesn't change. The monsters are s crowding more and more towards them and all he wants is to get rid of them.
If he stops his sword, his life would also end. Although his situation is better than Kristie's before as no monsters had yet found their suckers on his skin.
The spec of light grew more and more as it blinded even the beasts.
*poof*
It popped into sparkles.
From it, Klautz made his appearance.
