Stuck as a Villain!

Chapter 69: Mayu

Chapter 69: Mayu

Chapter 69: Mayu

The setting sun had dyed the sky with a pleasant orange hue with the passing flocks of birds singing merrily as they returned to their shelter. The cold breeze of arriving monsoon was blending and complimenting the evening to further tranquility.

Amidst such a peaceful atmosphere, a young girl could be seen wailing silently as she tended to the boy beside her.

Her blue eyes were clouded with the droplet of moisture continuously overflowing her vision and dropping down her cheeks as with a red nose she applied a bandage on the arm of the young man on her right.

Her partner was a teenager as well, but slightly older than the girl, with brownish-black spiky hair and sharp eyes, which were tenderly focused on the little girl.

He had tens of visible bruises on his arms, face, and ankle. His lower lip had clotted blood and a blue ring around his right eye with the lid of that side slightly swollen as well. There were some hidden injuries as well, but by no means, he could tell the girl to make her even more worried.

The boy seemed to be some kind of delinquent who had a fight recently and on the other side, the girl appeared gentle and soft contradictory to her partner.

“It's okay, Mayu. I am fine now. I am used to this.”

“But I am not okay! How they can be so brutal?!”

The girl whom the boy called Mayu, flared at his words instantly as she glared at him with tears still sliding down. He glanced around and thankfully, there was no one apart from them in the shrine.

He understood her concern and he as well doesn’t like to make her upset all the time but this was something he had to do due to his own reasons.

Seeing the girl nowhere near of calming, the boy wrapped his hands around her shoulder before embracing Mayu in a tight hug.

“I know it’s painful for you, but please don’t try to infiltrate the dojo again. You know it’s bad to harbor ill intentions toward my teachers, right?”

Even the boy said so, he knew Mayu would yet again try to hurt those sensei in the dojo and would fail miserably. If not for his grandfather’s connections and good relationship with the dojo supreme, Mayu would have gotten arrested a while ago.

Hearing him, Mayu snuggled closely as a blush crept down her cheeks before she spoke in a whisper.

“I can’t promise tho….nii-san…”

The boy could only sigh as he leaned his back on the wall behind his back as rested them under the approaching night sky.

Unbeknownst to the brother-sister duo a certain green-haired boy stood just some feet apart from them, watching them without blinking even once.

The fact that they weren’t able to see the third person implied this scene was not a reality…rather…

[Seth’s POV:]

“Ugh!”

It took me time to walk out of my brain since I still was getting used to these powers. Thankfully, I practiced before, since losing consciousness while being inside my head would have been disastrous.

“A-are you okay, young master?”

Seeing my struggle, Lara approached with a worried expression, reminding me of Mayu. I kept her on watch since roaming in memories leaves me vulnerable to a decent extent.

“ I am fine. Can you get me some warm water?”

“Right away.”

Lara left the room in a rush, as I leaned on my chair to think about the memory I saw just now from my last life.

Yesterday, all of a sudden I had a vague dream of Mayu. I don’t know why I never got any dreams of my previous life before but only when Anabelle was beside me.

There was nothing I could relate to but I was rather thankful for her. Those dreams of mine with Mayu is something I cherish and Anabelle helped me remember my imouto in between all this chaos transpiring since rebirth.

“Here, young master.”

Taking the glass from her, I gulped down the content while watching the worried face of my maid as a thought suddenly popped up.

Parting the glass I decided there would be no better time if I keep bottling up my doubts.

“Did I ever misbehave with you anytime in the past, Lara? Mentally or Physically?”

Hearing my words, Lara shivered as a vivid heat adorned her cheeks. It was beautiful and all but I thought I might be receiving an answer I already know.

But against my expectation…

“N-No never. I fell for young master because of his gentle and helping nature.”

The smile on her face told me that she wasn’t forcing herself to say such things. As for how I never assaulted her which I should’ve according to the plot is another mystery that I need to unravel.

I did get my memories but not the finer details since it would have destroyed my rationality to digest everything at once.

There are various things that are no longer following the plot but I don’t care about them since my focus is rather based on my survival.

Handing the glass my gaze fell on the runic ring I have been wearing since yesterday. It didn’t take me long to remember that it was Serena who gave me this spatial storage ring during the waltz.

I infused my soul energy in it and soon three things fell out of it.

One was a purple weird ring, another was a pearly golden necklace which undoubtedly was an artifact as well and the third thing was a folded paper.

There was no soul energy emitting from it so I knew it was a message from Serena.

Without putting much mind into it, I unfolded it before the content in neat handwriting appeared in front.

[Since, I couldn’t say this, I am writing it instead.

First of all, thanks for saving me Prez at times when I was the most useless to you. I know there is no way to repay such kindness you showed to me, but please if anytime, you feel my need, do tell me, Prez. And no, I am not just talking about my body but my whole being.

Thank you, for whatever you have done.

--Serena.]

With a smile, I put the note back in my storage as I focused my gaze on the reward which never was a part of the plot.

‘Let’s see, what fortune did I snatch…’
