After the government’s efforts, the terror of the previous night’s air battle in Tokyo began to fade away, and the ordinary Japanese people resumed their normal busy yet uneventful lives.

Since Yan Fei’s previous residence was no longer safe to return to, he had to find a different target. He got off the bus in Tokyo Downtown and, after several transfers, arrived in Ayase City in the southeastern part of Tokyo, where Atsugi Naval Air Base was located in the center of the city.

Today was supposed to be an open day for the public at Atsugi Naval Air Base, allowing civilians to enter the base to view the military aircraft. Even as he sat pretending to doze, he caught the eye of several young and beautiful Japanese girls who pretended to approach him accidentally, looking to strike up a conversation. Although Yan Fei appreciated the stylish look of these Japanese girls, he feared encountering one of the four major Asian dark arts—the Japanese makeup technique. Besides, he had an important task at hand and dared not create any diversions. So, pretending to be oblivious to their flirtations, he rejected the girls’ invitations, leaving them sorely disappointed.
