Chapter 464
Chapter 464
464 “Go ahead... try it.”
Zi Han didn’t want shit to go down now, at least not yet thus he placed his hand on Yi Chen’s shoulder asking him to stand down.
Yi Chen didn’t want to. In fact, he wanted to kill this person immediately for even thinking of laying his hands on Zi Han. But in the end, he had to relent because his lover told him to.
The man whose face had turned red with throbbing veins bulging on his neck and temples coughed violently while trying to catch his breath.
He glanced at Yi Chen with a touch of resentment in his eyes. That’s because that man’s grip on his throat was so hard that he thought his throat would get crushed.
Zi Han smiled slightly and said, “No need to be rough. I will follow you willingly just as long as you tell me where you are taking me.”
Zi Han had already guessed where they were going to take him. It seemed this matter had something to do with him. They must have known already that he was in the city and wanted to find him. This is why they were taking in a group of men inside the temple. Another man and woman wearing the exact same black robe walked towards them.
The woman gripped her whip and said, “We are taking you to the temple so please cooperate. It would be for your own good. Please follow us,” she said guiding the way.
Just as he took a step forward Yi Chen followed behind only for the man who had been strangled by him suddenly took out his whip intending to pay Yi Chen back tenfold.
Who would think the seemingly docile man drew a dagger and placed it on the black robe man’s neck in a threatening way? “Go ahead... try it,” whispered Zi Han pushing the blade against the man’s neck even more his gaze menacing.
.....
“Khalid, stand down,” said the woman, and the man Zi Han was threatening dropped the black whip that was as dark as a black mamba.
Zi Han sneered while taking his dagger away from the man. Seeing that the blade had been stained with a few droplets of blood he wiped it clean on the man’s robe.
After that, he stretched out his hand to Yi Chen and Yi Chen reached out and held Zi Han’s hand with a silly little smile making it hard to believe that this was the same person who just strangled someone just now.
“Lead the way,” said Zi Han and the woman glanced at Yi Chen before saying,
“He can’t come.” This man was handsome which was a rarity in this dog eat dog world and she could easily guess their relationship. She suddenly had the urge to contact him after this man was done with him. She just hope his rates weren’t too exorbitant.
Yi Chen who had been mistaken for a boyfriend for hire clasped Zi Han’s hand tightly trying to reassure him. He was clearly sober right now but he felt like he was on cloud nine. Watching his man protect him was one of the most pleasurable moments of his life.
He wanted to pull this man towards him and kiss him long and hard but this just wasn’t the right time. Like this, the pair of lovers held hands all the way to the temple like they were walking in a mall on valentine’s day, leisurely and calm.
The men guarding the temple glanced at this unusual scene with slight interest. If they didn’t know any better they would have thought they were guests at a wedding watching the couple walking down the aisle hand in hand. The only issue was that there was a major balance between the two grooms.
One was drop-dead gorgeous and the other was as regular as a plain A4 paper. It just wasn’t working for them. Yi Chen felt those boring gazes and felt very irritable. With an indignant expression, he placed his hand on Zi Han’s waist and blocked their sight. What did they think they were looking at?
One of the men almost rolled his eyes. Who among them would want his ugly duckling when they were plenty of those around? Maybe they would want his money of course, but none of them would go as far as robbing him.
Yi Chen now understood why some women married to the noble class would wear scarves. It’s because their husbands were truly afraid of getting robbed and in the Republic, it wasn’t uncommon for a beauty to get kidnapped. He suddenly wanted to buy a veil for his bride and prevent their covetous eyes.
Zi Han turned to Yi Chen and whispered, “Stay outside.”
Yi Chen’s chest tightened as he refused to let him go. Zi Han knew he wouldn’t agree easily but he couldn’t let Yi Chen enter. That’s because he had recalled that Yi Chen had met the so-called high priest before and he would be recognised. He regretted not changing Yi Chen’s face at this moment.
Yi Chen didn’t want to but he also knew Zi Han had his own reasons thus he obediently stayed behind while watching his lover go in. If Zi Han wasn’t out in the next five minutes he would break in and overturn the entire temple.
When they entered the temple Zi Han noticed a group of men standing there confusedly while a familiar little boy stood there in fright looking at all of them.
“Come on, take another look. Which of these men saved you,” said the man sitting on the throne.
The boy’s watery eyes dimmed his tears flowing silently. He already knew that things weren’t going to end well for them but he could only scrutinise every one of those faces despite knowing that the person wasn’t there.
The boy shook his head again and whimpered while his new family was trembling in fear.
“My lord. We brought the last one,” said priestess Fan, and Zi Han stared at the man sitting on the throne. His heart turned cold as he gazed at this person from top to bottom.
