The Assassin's Enemy Lover

Chapter 478

Chapter 478

478 This is blasphemy

Yeoh Jun turned his gaze to the hordes of people standing on top of the chunks of bricks and concrete looking in their direction. Some were upset, some had pitiful expressions while others had expressions of reverie.

His memory was still fuzzy but he strangely recalled being in the healing capsule outside this temple with so many desperate pairs of eyes staring at him.

At that time Yeoh Lang made a ritualistic speech and the people bowed as though worshipping him making him feel very ill at ease.

At that time Yeoh Lang didn’t know that this healing capsule was keeping him alive after being badly injured thus when he opened it, Yeoh Jun’s health declined sharply, especially because of the extremely polluted air of the Republic.

The moment that shield was opened his body broke down and he collapsed on the brink of death. He should have died at the top of those temple stairs and that’s what he thought.

He thought he was dead. How couldn’t he? Despite this thought, he still had vague dreams of opening portals and commanding monsters to attack the federation. He also dreamt of talking to his son twice though his memory was vague.

He also remembered this inexplicable rage arising in him when he dreamt of his son almost dying at the hands of the madman Yeoh Lang thus he retaliated by intentionally severing his mental power preventing him from doing any space jumps. This was a self destructive thing to do but for the sake of his son, he was willing to sacrifice himself.

All the while he honestly thought he was a drifting soul that was being controlled by someone in dreams. If it sounds like it didn’t make sense, it was because it didn’t. It was hard for him to explain.

Now, these people were standing in front of him again staring at him intently. “Are you here to plead for him?” asked Yeoh Jun his voice bouncing off the broken walls carrying with it a strong pressure assaulting them all with great brutality.

.....

Priestess Fan felt her legs weak at the knees and she didn’t fight it. She went down to her knees as they did in the temple while begging stor f?niks for family and life blessings.

As her knees hit the ground priestess Fan finally realised something. The man they had thought died was now standing before them. This wasn’t the same as the young man she saw before though the eyes were similar.

Her mind began to spin her cold lips trembling. Wasn’t this person dead? Didn’t he die before them and his memorial tablet was placed in the temple where they burnt incense? Her pupils quivered as she gazed at the man.

Did Yeoh Lang lie? Did he lie to them for all these years but kept the man in his secret workspace in the basement?

Her heart which had long grown fond of him suddenly chilled as she glanced at the man struggling to sit up leaning his back against the wall.

He looked in her direction and when their eyes met she hurriedly lowered her head. She couldn’t bring herself to look at him. She looked down her body trembling.

“How can we trust someone who we don’t even know? He is an imposter. This is blasphemy,” said one of the nobles trying to save the high priest who looked like he was in a very miserable state. It’s not that he wanted to save him out of loyalty but that he wanted to save him out of selfish reasons.

If these so called greener pastures happened then there won’t be any way to exploit money out of these people. If everyone was prosperous then what would be left for them to make money? Thinking of this the nobles who didn’t want to lose their statuses and environmental advantages chose to back the high priest.

“You destroyed all our homes. Our livelihoods so why should we kneel down and beg him?” shouted another.

“You wanted to kill us all. We lived peacefully and granted our environment wasn’t good but we had adapted. Yet you came here and bullied us. How much blood was shed for no reason?” shouted someone at the back and more dissatisfied shouts echoed followed by curses.

Yeoh Jun clenched his fist and took a step forward resisting the urge to lay all of them to waste. He wasn’t exactly a patient man especially when it came to strangers. Now he was already in a bad mood and these people added fuel to the raging fire.

“No wonder our ancestors chose to leave. You are stubborn and brainless, a lost cause. My son tried to save all of you. It was your high priest who used heavy artillery first and he didn’t even care whether the city was still occupied or not. You have eyes but you can’t even use them. I might as well gouge them out!” he yelled tired of their BS.

He couldn’t help it. The sacrifices his son went through for them weren’t seen at all. Instead, their focus was on their selfish desires and blind hatred. Yeoh Jun had forgotten that these people had been brainwashed from generation to generation.

Hearing this, several people were dissatisfied and walked forward intending to vent their anger but before they could reach him Yeoh Lang who was silent just now laughed with a hint of cynicism but it soon turned to a pained laugh followed by screams of agony.

The nobleman who spoke earlier saw that priestess Fan remained kneeling on the ground thus he pushed her while yelling, “Don’t you see he needs help? Aren’t you his right hand man? Help him.”

Priestess Fan clenched her jaw and didn’t move. She didn’t dare to. They didn’t see it but she saw it all now. As though to affirm her conjecture, Yeoh Lang opened his mouth and the words weren’t pleasant.

“I. Can’t. Kill you... ugh... but some... something else can hahaha *cough *cough,” he said and priestess Fan raised her head in shock.

“No!” she yelled but it was too late.
