Chapter 690

She clicked her tongue, ‘Ms. Dustin, how has your health been these years?”

She was quite curious how Brittany had managed to detoxify and endure. She knew too well how torturous the toxins within Brittany’s system were. One wrong move and it could have cost her life.

Brittany looked somewhat perplexed, “Not so great, but I’ve recovered now.”

“After you fell into the sea, was it William who took you away?”

“The person I woke up to was him.” Brittany furrowed her brows, “What exactly does Ms. Bennett want to say?”

Was her so-called conversation just to inquire about how she had been those past five years?

Shona, sensing her implications, took a sip of her water, “Ms. Dustin, I am sorry for what happened five years ago. Mr. Salter and I were never truly engaged, and we never did anything to hurt you. And the child I had then was not a result of our love. Shona still felt a bit upset bringing up that topic, “We were allies. I needed the Salter family to be my backbone, to secure my inheritance rights of the Bennett family, and Mr. Salter had his predicaments.”

“So, what does this have to do with me?” Brittany didn’t want to hear any more of it, “Ms. Bennett, whatever happened five years ago, ended five years ago. I thought I was Mrs. Salter back then, so I did some extreme things that led to you being slandered. I should apologize to you for that.”

Brittany was ready to face whatever came her way back then. Hence, the information she exposed was all true and explosive, thus led Shona being slandered.

“No matter what Isaac went through five years ago, I will not go back.” Brittany replied and glanced at the time. It was almost time for her to leave and she added, “I’m sorry, but I have to go now.”

After Brittany left, Shona silently lit a candle for Isaac.

Seems like his journey to win Brittany back was far from over.

Shona had two cups of water, took her time, and then made a call to her confidant, Find out what William has been up to these past five years, and also find out how Brittany detoxified after falling into the sea.”

William probably wouldn’t know how to detoxify since he didn’t have the resources. So, how did he manage to detoxify Brittany?

If not him, then who detoxified the poison in Brittany’s body?

When Brittany arrived at the private room, the other party had already arrived.

“Ms. Dustin, welcome.”

Brittany smiled, greeted everyone, took three penalty shots, and started discussing business with Wesley.

The other party had a close relationship with Wesley, and their attitude was relatively amicable.

They chatted for a good three hours over dinner. After seeing off the other party, Brittany massaged her temples. She had had a few too many drinks.

Wesley noticed her discomfort, “Are you all right?”

She should’ve drunk less if she knew her limit. Why push it?

He remembered how, five years prior, Brittany was allergic to alcohol yet was willing to risk it all and drink till she broke out in hives, all for a business deal.

Brittany leaned on the table, trembling as she tried to use her phone to call the driver.

“I’ll do it.”

Wesley took her phone, but instead of calling the driver, he called Isaac, “Golden Joy Restaurant, room 2356. You might want to come over.”

Brittany was dizzy from the alcohol. Her body was feeling hot. She had taken an antihistamine beforehand. So, she didn’t break out in hives, but she still felt unwell.

Wesley leaned back, leisurely pouring himself a drink. Once he finished his drink, the door to the room was pushed open.

“Didn’t I tell you to keep an eye on her?” Isaac saw Brittany lying on the table, and his eyes narrowed in annoyance as he looked at Wesley.

“I tried to stop her, but she insisted on drinking.” Wesley looked innocent.

Isaac went over to Brittany, picked her up, grabbed her purse and coat, and left after saying, “Good luck to you.”

The driver saw him coming out and quickly opened the car door, “How did she drink so much?”

“Take us to Radiant Residences.”

Brittany was really drunk, and her eyebrows knitted together in discomfort. Her face was pale as she mumbled unintelligibly. Seeing her like that softened Isaac’s heart. He put his arm around her waist, “What’s the point of drinking so much? If the negotiations don’t work out, so be it.”

It was just a piece of land. If she wanted it, he would have just given it to her.
