Chapter 1087

“Come on, Mom really needs the cash. Can’t you just give her some?” Susan urged impatiently.

Bruce rubbed the back of his neck with discomfort, “I’ve already given all the cash I had your mother –

every last dime. I thought you had a decent amount saved up from your allowance. Could you maybe

help her out until we get back on our feet?”

“You two are useless, draining our savings like a leaky faucet!” Susan snapped, frustration clear in her

voice.

Bruce braced himself for his daughter’s contempt and pushed on, “How much money do you have

saved up right now?”

“That pocket money you gave me? It’s been gone for ages!” Susan replied, her face stone-cold.

“What?” Bruce felt a wave of disappointment wash over him.

“But, I’ve made some of my own,” Susan added, her tone shifting.

“You’ve made your own? How much?” Hope flickered in Bruce’s eyes again.

Susan’s eyelashes fluttered down, shielding the dark shadows and the sense of humiliation in her eyes

as she said, “Two hundred and fifteen thousand.”

“Sweetheart, you’ve made two hundred and fifteen thousand on your own? That’s incredible! You’re

truly your father’s daughter,” Bruce beamed with pride.

Hearing her father’s praise brought a little comfort to Susan, but it did little to dispel the hurt lurking in

her eyes.

She kept her gaze lowered, unable to meet Bruce’s proud look, and said, “I’ll give you two hundred

thousand to invest in the stock market. The remaining fifteen thousand, I’ll keep for myself.”

In truth, she had only earned fifteen thousand from her gig as a model. The rest, the two hundred

thousand, came from last night. Susah had thought that after sleeping with Joshua, he would take

some responsibility for her, maybe even provide financial support. However, when Joshua sobered up,

he pulled his pants up and treated her like a stranger, claiming there was something wrong with his

drink. He gave her two hundred thousand as compensation for the trouble, all the while threatening to

investigate the incident thoroughly if she didn’t accept it. He insinuated knowledge of her involvement in

the drugging, implying she should take the money and disappear.

Her grand ambitions shattered, Susan had no choice but to swallow her pride and accept the money to

keep the peace.

“That’s my girl. Just transfer the money to my account, and you can rest up,” Bruce said joyfully, exiting

her room quickly to let her be, gently closing the door behind him.

At an upscale restaurant, Richard was apologizing to Joshua for the unfortunate incident. “Mr. Joshua, I

am truly sorry about the unpleasant incident that occurred at our hotel. It was a lapse in our service,

and I deeply regret any inconvenience it caused you. Please allow me to drink three glasses as a

sincere apology,” Richard said earnestly, lifting his glass to Joshua before downing it in one go.

The previous night, Susan had barged into Joshua’s room and taken advantage of him while he was

intoxicated.

Richard was shocked when he heard about the incident and feared offending Joshua.

Unaware of any issue with the drinks from the previous night, Richard thought Joshua was the only one

who had been affected.

Joshua, usually a picture of kindness and amiability, now had a stern expression, his presence

commanding and intense.

Watching Richard down three shots of strong alcohol, Joshua’s eyes were cold and piercing, “Was it

you who let that woman into the gala?”
