Chapter 1138

“Huh? Didn’t you catch that?” Alaric asked with a leisurely drawl, his piercing gaze locking onto her and

bringing her pressure.

He enunciated each word clearly for emphasis, “I said, you’re going to play the part of my girlfriend and

come home with me to meet my grandad. Do that, and I’ll let your little mockery slide.”

Hertha blinked her wide, doe-like eyes at him, swallowing a gulp of astonishment. If she thought she

had misheard him the first time, Alaric’s repetition left no room for doubt.

She certainly wasn’t hallucinating.

“You want me to pretend to be your girlfriend and meet your grandad? You’ve got some nerve! I mean,

playing your girlfriend in front of Georgia was one thing, but meeting the family is a whole different ball

game. You’re really going to bring a fake?”

Hertha had never done anything like this and certainly didn’t have the guts for it.

“I’ve got it covered. What are you scared of?” Alaric said coolly, a teasing smile playing at the corner of

his mouth. “What, you’re afraid that my family will latch onto you and drag you into marriage after you

met them?”

Hertha bristled at the challenge. She raised her neck with her chin defiantly tilted, “What do I have to be

scared of? If anything, you should be worried. Imagine if your family actually wanted you to marry me.

You’d really be stuck then!”

“Don’t worry, they won’t be interested in you. You just have to block this one move and help me call off

the engagement with the Reed family. You like the famous acto right? Once this is done, I’ll get you a

one-on-one with him. How about that?” Al offered. He was half-persuading and half-tempting.

“You serious?” Hertha couldn’t believe her ears!

Could Alaric really get her a private meeting with Dominic?

The temptation was strong.

She was utterly infatuated with Dominic and was his number one fan.

“Of course I’m serious. You think I carry the Falconer surname for nothing?” Alaric assured her

confidently.

“Alright, it’s a deal! No going back on your word.” Hertha agreed immediately; the offer was just too

tempting to pass up.

Raising a fist, Hertha extended her pinky; her slightly chubby cheeks tilted up towards Alaric.

She had been on a diet and had slimmed down, but after falling out with Alaric, she’d turned to comfort

eating and quickly regained her former roundness.

Alaric watched her gesture, and was completely baffled, “What are you doing?”

Hertha stepped forward, grabbed his hand, and locked pinkies with him, “Pinky swear, for a hundred

years we’ll never dare; whoever breaks it is a rotten egg!”

Alaric found this funny, “Childish.”

“More childish than you?” Hertha shot back, rolling her eyes as she led the way out of the booth.

Alaric simply smiled and followed.

Hertha sidled up to Thalassa, who was sitting at the bar, and whispered something into Thalassa’s ear.

Thalassa’s eyes widened in surprise, and then she laughed, “Go on then, I’ll catch a cab back later.”

Glancing at Alaric, who had accompanied Hertha, Thalassa could tell Hertha agreed to his request

because she wasn’t over him yet.

“Don’t bother with a cab. Take my keys and drive yourself home. Just take the car to Crawley Group

tomorrow, and I’ll pick it up,” Hertha said, handing over the keys. “I can’t drive after drinking anyway.”

“Alright, just be safe,” Thalassa said as she accepted the keys, offering a polite farewell glance at Alaric

to signal her concern for Hertha’s well-being.

“Don’t worry, I won’t let anything happen to her,” Alaric assured, obviously picking up on Thalassa’s

protective tone.

“That’s good to hear,” Thalassa replied.

With that, Alaric and Hertha left the bar.
