Chapter 954

Thalassa couldn’t believe her ears. Was that even words coming out of Bruce’s mouth?

Seeing the horror etched across her face, Bruce couldn’t help but smirk with the satisfaction of the upper hand. He reached out toward Thalassa, who recoiled in terror, her body trapped against the back of a chair, wrists bound behind her.

No matter how she strained, she couldn’t move an inch, her body contorted uncomfortably like a cooked shrimp.

Bruce’s outstretched hand paused momentarily as he noticed her reaction. Then, with a deliberate slowness, his hand descended, not toward her, but to the rope tied around her ankles, and he began to untie the knots.

“What’s got you so scared, huh? Did I say something wrong?” Bruce mumbled, keeping his gaze on the stubborn knots as he worked to free her feet.

Every cell in Thalassa’s body trembled with fury. His proximity, his touch on the ropes that bound her-it all made her skin crawl with revulsion, and she dreaded even the slightest accidental contact.

“It’s your mouth, you can say whatever you want. Can I really stop you?” Thalassa spat out the words with a venomous tone, struggling to contain the storm of anger and disgust inside her.

While he wasn’t currently using the video as a threat, every word and line from him served as a constant reminder, a tap on the shoulder, regarding the incident with Evelyn and the video he claimed to possess.

“Aren’t you curious about what I meant by that?” Bruce untied the last knot, and as he looked up at Thalassa, a dark, sinister glint flashed in his eyes.

The sight sent shivers down Thalassa’s spine, making her skin prickle uncomfortably.

“I don’t want to know what you meant,” Thalassa averted her gaze, determined not to look into his eyes. His gaze was unnerving, raising goosebumps all over, and she didn’t want to meet his eyes for even a second.

“You don’t still think you’re my daughter, do you? I was at the mall a while back, trying to pawn off that necklace when someone tipped off Lysander. He found me, had me beaten to a pulp, and I ended up in the hospital again. That’s where I ran into that nurse who’d fetched blood for me last time. She said you have B-type blood.”

Bruce leaned in as he spoke, his breath inching closer to Thalassa’s face.

Thalassa recoiled, her heart racing with fear.

What? Bruce knew she wasn’t his daughter? Was that what his cryptic words were about? Was he going to hurt her like he had Evelyn?

“You’re going pale. It’s not like I’ve revealed some earth-shattering secret,” Bruce sneered, his tone dripping with malice. Thalassa’s eyes widened with defiance and terror as she stared back at him. “Bruce, if you want Susan to be Lysander’s girl, don’t mess with me. Otherwise, Susan will never get close to Lysander, and he’ll never let you off the hook!”

“Ah, but you’re wrong. Only by making Lysander despise you, by pushing you away, can any other woman get a chance with him. If you remain irreplaceable in his heart, no matter how good another woman is, she’ll never get close to Lysander.”

As he spoke, Bruce set about untying the ropes that held Thalassa to the chair.

Thalassa’s body tensed, instinctively trying to avoid his touch. Moments ago, she had longed to be freed, but now, the thought of Bruce being the one to untie her filled her with an overwhelming urge to resist, to have him stay away from her.

Bruce noticed her recoil but didn’t pause. His hands continued their work, and he said, “This place is too shabby. I’ll take you somewhere quiet and comfortable.”
