Chapter 955

What did he mean by taking her to somewhere quiet and comfortable?

“I’ve recently discovered this boutique hotel; the ambiance is just perfect, very honeymoon-esque. How about I take you there?” Bruce said as he untied the ropes that bound Thalassa’s wrists to the chair, speaking as if he were discussing the weather.

Thalassa’s heart clenched in terror.

Bruce wanted to take her to a hotel; after what he did to her mother, was she next?

The moment her hands were free from the chair, Thalassa struggled with all her might, trying to stand and flee. But her hands were tied behind her back, and another rope bound her wrists together tightly; she couldn’t muster the strength to rise.

“Hold your horses. I’ll help you,” Bruce offered, reaching out to help her up.

“Don’t you touch me, or I swear I’ll bite my tongue and end it all!” Thalassa growled, her breathing ragged and her eyes blazing with a ferocious, helpless fury.

Bruce’s outstretched hand paused, inches away from Thalassa, but he withdrew at her threat. “Fine, get up on your own. No yelling, the fat guy hasn’t gone far. Screaming will only invite more to the party, and no one’s coming to save you. This place is in the middle of nowhere; besides your captors, who’s gonna hear you scream?”

He stood up, not helping her but warning against cries for help.

Biting down hard on her back teeth, Thalassa knew it was pointless to scream; if it had been otherwise, the brute from before wouldn’t have been so brazen.

Better to conserve her energy than to waste it on futile shouts.

With great effort, Thalassa stood up, unsteady on her feet.

Bruce glanced at her sidelong, “Come on then. If you don’t want a rough time, I’d advise against any pointless struggling.”

With that, Bruce led the way out the door.

Thalassa watched his retreating figure, quietly contemplating that she was unfamiliar with the layout of this place and unaware of the situation outside. It would be best for her to follow him for now and strategize her escape once they were outside. A hasty flight would only lead her into worse danger.

Bruce headed toward a silver van parked outside.

Thalassa followed, scanning the surroundings. A few low buildings were scattered about, with tall pines and firs surrounding them, and more forest beyond.

It truly was a desolate backwoods.

“Stop gawking and get in. Without a car, you’re not escaping this place,” Bruce said, waiting by the vehicle, seeing right through Thalassa’s thoughts and squashing her hope of escape.

Thalassa’s nerves tensed, and she quickly refocused, seeing Bruce leaning casually against the van door.

She internally resisted the urge to draw near Bruce, but what choice did she have in his grasp?

Suppressing her intense revulsion, Thalassa reluctantly moved toward the van.

“Get in, stop dawdling,” Bruce stepped back, making room for her to climb aboard.

Left with no other option, Thalassa got into the van. When she had stood up moments before, she realized her phone wasn’t on her, leaving her no means to call for help.

“Thalassa, really, you’re better off with me than with Lysander. I know how to treat someone right,” Bruce said with a smirk, as she obediently got into the van.
