Chapter 461  Preparing For Disaster (2)

Eugene grunted as he deflected a strike from the lizardman boss' tail. He jumped just in time to avoid the sudden grab at him from the mud, spinning in the air while waving his sword to release a wave of white flames that instantly burned everything to ashes. Even the boss monster had to distance himself from the attack.

"You are a remarkable human, you know. What are those flames? They are stronger than a regular A rank fire spell." The boss monster asked curiously while also jumping back into the fray to exchanged blows with Leon.

"This is a condensation of my will, my resolve, my heart. I will burn away at anything that stands in the way of me reaching my goals! And now, my goal is to defeat you!" Eugene responded and dodged a flurry of fireballs conjured by the boss monster, inching his way forward to attack it at close range.

Whoosh!

Several earth spikes jutted up from under the boss monster, but it fluidly weaved between them as if they were nothing.

Eugene grunted and paused his movements. His body leaned forward and his muscles bunched up. More white energy left his army and gathered around him. He only needed a moment of preparation before he exploded forward, a blur of white that cut through everything in his path.

"What?!" The boss monster was taken aback as Eugene appeared in front of it, a trail of blazing white fire lining the path he had come from. With eyes and hair glowing with white light, Eugene waved his sword and cut a deep gash along the front of the boss monster.

"ARGH!" The boss monster howled in pain but Eugene was far from done. His hands were quick and he slashed rapidly, his sword imbued with the scalding powers of the white flames. White lines appeared all over the boss monster's body, glowing brightly before exploding and engulfing its frame in bright white flames.

Eugene jumped back quickly and let out the deep breath that he had been holding. He had unleashed a very powerful attack. It was not outright his most powerful attack, but it was the best in this situation, and it had drained him a lot.

The smoke took some time to clear, but when it did, the injured form of the boss monster was revealed. It was barely standing and one arm was missing, having been torn off in the explosion.

"Hehe, what a powerful attack. You are a truly powerful human. You beat me, an A rank enemy with nothing but your strength." The lizardman said. The crystal core in its chest flickered weakly as it spoke. "Go on, finish it."

Eugene stepped forward, looking at the lizardman with apprehension. He raised his sword that glowed with white light and swung down, beheading the lizardman in one smooth motion.

Thump!

The core of the boss monster lost its luster as its head dropped to the floor. Its body slumped down, devoid of life. Eugene let out a sigh of relief. He had feared that the boss monster had been trying to lure him in for a sneak attack.

"That was a pretty neat move there."

Eugene startled as he heard a voice above him. He raised his sword, ready to fight, thinking that the boss monster was actually not dead. But he paused when he saw the familiar face of his son.

"Leon!" Eugene chuckled and lowered his weapon. "You saw that?"

"I did. It's impressive. It is quite rare to see B rank experts that are able to display an effective combat power of an A rank. Congratulations." Leon replied with a smile as he touched down a few feet away from his father. The two of them embraced in a short hug.

"Haha! Thanks! I've been working on that for a while now. What brings you here? You have been busy ever since you ascended. Did you finally find some time to visit this old lad here?" Eugene asked with a wide smile. He was truly happy to see his son again.

"You're right. I haven't paid as much attention to you as I should have, dad. But at least I came down here this time. You are doing well for yourself and I'm happy to see that." Leon responded.

"Hmm, well you're right. At least you came to see me. I'm happy for that." Eugene stepped back and turned to the battlefield. To his surprise, the battle had already ended.

"How are the other humans from Earth doing? I hope none of them are causing trouble." Leon asked, his eyes looking over the people.

"Ah, they are doing well. None of them are causing any trouble. After all, you are my son. No one wants to incur your ire." Eugene laughed a bit as the humans started to clean up the battlefield.

The father and son stood in silence for a while before Leon spoke up. "Dad, there is something important I have to tell you about."

"Oh? Go ahead." Eugene was intrigued.

"In the near future, just a month or two from now, a war is going to break out." Leon revealed.

"A war? What kingdoms are fighting? Maybe I can make good money from it." Eugene held his chin.

"It's not an ordinary war, dad. It's something that even I can't guarantee my own survival in. It is a war concerning the fate of Datar as a whole." Leon explained and seeing his serious tone, Eugene also adopted a similar expression, his face hardening.

"Is it that bad?" He asked.

"Yes. In fact, I can't explain the scope of this war. Just know that the entire world will be engulfed in the flames of this war. If the Gods fall, then there is no hope for this world." Leon nodded his head solemnly.

"If it is going to be that bad, then let us run back to Earth." Eugene put his hand on Leon's shoulder. "We can bring Elena with us."

"Ha." Leon snorted. "It's not so simple, dad. I'm a God of Datar, not Earth. I can't stay there forever. I have to fight." He turned and smiled at Eugene.
