Chapter 503 Datar On The Defense - Defending The Armstrong Mansion (2)
When the creatures from the portals appeared, the powerhouses of Datar did not make their move yet. Most of the creatures that popped out were on negligible strength. They were simply swarms of at least C rank creatures, with some being in B rank. Only when the truly powerful beings of A rank appeared would they make their move.
Jet and his family, however, were different. Although there was no major population base near their home, a portal had still appeared. There were some villages and small towns around their mansion, but they had warned the people beforehand, so the people had migrated closer to the mansion and moved into the temporary bunkers that had been built by the Armstrong Family.
Jet clapped his hands and the space around him rippled like the surface of a body of water. He pulled his hands apart, his fingers bent in a claw-like fashion, and in the next second, the space in front of his tore and ripped apart. All the creatures in front of him were affected and fell into the void of space that had been created by Jet's technique. They were quickly ripped apart and devoured by the chaotic space.
Most of Jet's techniques and spells now revolved around manipulating space in a chaotic way and exploiting instabilities or creating his own to achieve devastating results. It was something that showed an absolute savagery and coldness. Only someone who was willing to walk the edge of a blade could exploit this power to its best.
Surprisingly, his path had a few similarities with Aristodemus' chosen path, so they were able to learn from each other and use each other as references to some extent.
Some distance away, Aristodemus had already drawn his giant sword. Space twisted and strange ripples appeared around him as he swung it in a casual and leisurely manner, as if he did not need to expend any effort to kill the monsters around him. And indeed, he did not need to. Just those casual swings shook up the space around him so much that any creature that came within a certain range had their bodies and bones twisted and mangled so badly in mere seconds.
This was the power of an A rank that was on the precipice of the Divine.
For now, only the two of them had made moves. The others did not need to, as that would simply be overkill, and they would be wasting their energy. In fact, just Jet and Aristodemus alone had it so that as soon as the creatures came out of the portal, they died in mere seconds. They were no threat, no matter how sneaky or crafty they were.
It was at this moment that something finally changed. The mana and Divine Energy that came together to form the portal suddenly released a pulse of strong energy. The ceaseless wave of monsters paused for five seconds before a new wave came out, but in fewer numbers than before.
"A rank creatures?!" Jet exclaimed and turned his attention to the new set of elite creatures. His fingers immediately twitched as he pulled out his swords. His twin swords glowed with an ominous gray light as he immediately swung them, unleashing spatial blades that tore through everything in their path.
However, as if the creatures that passed through the portal had been made just to counter them, they displayed an adept proficiency with spatial powers, solidifying the space around them before countering the attacks that Jet sent toward them.
While none of them were as strong as Jet individually, the cooperation of over a dozen of those creatures, his attack was negated.
"This is going to be a bit troublesome." Jet sighed. He had hoped that what they would have to deal with would not be too serious, but with the appearance of these A rank beings, he knew that his hopes would not be coming true this time.
The space around Jet trembled ever so slightly as he got ready to teleport, but in the next moment, he stopped after realizing that someone else had already beat him to it.
He watched as Aristodemus appeared behind the group of A rank monsters. His body reflected tiny sparks of energy that were remnant from him tearing through the ironed down space to reach the creatures. This was no easy feat, but thanks to his deep insight into the Law of Instability, he was able to find the unstable and weaker aspects of the ironed out space that had been created by the creatures.
The creatures immediately reacted and moved to attack Aristodemus, but they were no match for his overwhelmingly superior power. With a swing of his large greatsword, half of them were cleaved in two before vicious spatial storms engulfed their bodied and ravaged them.
Even for those that managed to dodge his sword, they did not escape unscathed. His sword had released a small spatial storm that whipped around their bodies. Their tempered skin and scales could do little against the spatial storms that tore and bit into them under the intent of Aristodemus.
`Waves of spatial bombs immediately detonated around Aristodemus, but he braved the storms and weathered the attacks with his powerful armor. The armor was part of him, and each time he grew stronger, it grew alongside him. With his Peak A rank strength, and its reinforcement thanks to his comprehension of a powerful Law like the Law of Instability, it was easy for him to withstand some blows that would normally be threatening to Peak A ranks.
He was easily able to create and cause Instabilities within the attacks, which would lead to a case where the attacks would be weakened and display lower damage or destructions, and would in turn make an opening for him to exploit.
The giant armored Knight weaved through patches of chaotic space and made his way closer to the surviving creatures from the portal, his face blank thanks to his armor. However, his aura was cold and sharp, as if it could kill the enemies all by itself.
