Chapter 237 - PUT OUR MINDS TOGETHER

Chapter 237 - PUT OUR MINDS TOGETHER

Jack was someone who was originally an enemy, but he gradually tried to win over Kevin and Kris's trust by showing a loyal attitude to the two men.

Jack thought that he finally won their trust when they told everything about the mysterious case they were investigating. They included him in every investigation, and he thought that the two men finally could accept him on their side.

But now when he learned the truth about Kevin and Kris trying to hide some matters from him, he was quite offended by it. He suspected that the two men couldn't trust him in the end.

The blonde glared at the pairing, and his face was plastered by the look of disappointment.

"It's not like that, Jack—"

"If it's not like that, then what, Kevin? Do you and Kris suspect me for the incident that happened in your apartment? Or even the incident that happened tonight? You suspect me for everything, right?"

Kevin couldn't even finish his sentence because Jack abruptly cut his speech. Kevin experienced it again when someone misunderstood his intention. Kris was the one who suspected Jack, but he only wanted to keep Jack and Blue safe.

Jack was indeed a criminal until a few months ago, but Kevin could see that Jack had the intention to change himself. That was why he believed in Jack and didn't suspect the tattooed man for what happened in the apartment.

"Kevin is not suspicious of you, Jack. It's me who doubted you," Kris suddenly chimed in, seizing the attention of the people in the living room. "But now that Kevin seems to be trusting you wholeheartedly, I think I want to hear his reason for trusting you."

The tanned man shifted his gaze from Jack to Kevin, and the latter returned his gaze with his solemn one.

"I don't need to hear anything from both of you," Jack replied in a cold tone, making all people turn their heads to the blonde again. "It won't make any difference whether it's the two of you or one of you who can't trust me. I think no one needs me here, so I'd better leave."

Jack was about to get up from his seat, but Casper, who was sitting next to him, suddenly grabbed his hand while staring at him intently.

"I don't even understand what's happening here, but I believe that we all have the same purpose?" The soldier asked a question as he stared at the people in the living room one by one. "I know that you guys don't even fully trust me yet, but I just want to find my missing comrades and find out what's going on in the military. I think we have to put our minds together if we're still going to continue our cooperation."

Casper was usually timid, but at times like this when the older people were busy arguing with each other, he surprisingly came with his mature thought. All people turned to him, and it seemed they agreed with his opinion.

"I agree with Casper," Kevin replied. "I know we come from different backgrounds, but we all want to find the truth about the real mastermind behind the werewolf war, right?"

Kevin was so confident when he threw the question at the people in the living room, but Luke, who was sitting alone on the couch, suddenly displayed a look of disagreement.

"I don't understand why did you suddenly talk about the mastermind behind the werewolf war. As far as I remember, we only discussed the matter related to my uncle, right? Do you mean he's the mastermind behind the werewolf war?" The grey-haired man questioned Kevin confusedly.

Kevin could understand that Luke was confused now. He and Luke were only talking about Felix Smith without mentioning the werewolf war specifically, and the IT expert was puzzled by the sudden talk about the mastermind behind the war.

"It's not like that, Luke," the raven-haired scientist answered the question. "We're still not sure about the real mastermind, but your uncle is likely related to the war. That's why I questioned you about your uncle."

Luke was stunned for a moment, but he immediately asked for further explanation from his colleague. Kevin then started explaining the findings related to Felix Smith, starting from the unexpected meeting with Felix in Chilad, and about the figure of Felix Smith who appeared in Rodein just a few weeks before the last year's war.

Kevin also recounted the story when Kris, Jack, and Casper were attacked when they were in Chilad, and probably it was related to the attack that happened just now. However, he skipped the part about the attack in his apartment.

"So, that's why you suspect my uncle? I remember I also told you that my uncle had a plan to create his version of werewolves to fight the bad werewolves, and that's why you're getting more suspicious of him?" Luke questioned the young scientist again.

Kevin nodded his head in response to his colleague's question. "Your uncle has been acting suspicious, Luke. He suddenly resigned and became a teacher in Blue's school instead, and maybe he had a plan related to Blue all along. You know the information about Blue being the pseudo-wolf, right? That's a piece of secret information, but you have access to the database in Orka, so I'm sure you know that information."

Kevin had never told Luke about Blue, but he was sure that the IT genius had known the information all along. Luke had access to the database in Orka, and that information was likely already in his hands.

Luke didn't argue, so Kevin assumed that his prediction was right. Luke indeed had known all the secrets related to him, Kris, Blue, and Jack.

"I had managed to hack the mysterious email account, Kevin.. But before our discussion tonight, I actually planned to hide this information from you because I could sense that you didn't fully believe in me. Now that you have unveiled your secret investigation to me, should I unveil the information about that account to?"
