Chapter 124 - The Man In Her Dream Shadows
Chapter 124 - The Man In Her Dream Shadows
One hour before...
The day was hectic for Devin. Running two companies even after he is on a vacation would discern the weight he was carrying on his shoulders. He has to scurry for an urgent board meeting and has to leave Leena alone. Since she was enjoying playing games with Drew, he did not bother to disturb her.
When he entered the room in the evening after the long meetings, Andrew was sitting on the couch playing video games alone. Hearing the rough footsteps, Drew stopped playing and bucked up.
"You are back, brother-in-law?" Drew asked resuming the game. He was in a happy mood that his mortal enemy left for New York right after the wedding was completed due to urgent work. His mom was also nagging him to come back but he wanted to travel with Leena and he also talked about the newfound sister and she readily asked her to bring since she loves girls.
"Brother in law? You changed my title already?" Devin asked with a smile knocking on the bathroom door to look for Leena when he did not find her in the room. He was planning to take her to New York today in his private jet since the wedding is ended today.
"Jurassic is my sister now. So, I have to quit calling you brother right?" Drew added.
"Screw that name, Drew. It's Leena." Devin compelled. He made a note to lecture her for going serious with this kind of kinky names every time.
"Leena is a good name." He said, reckoning his brain when he felt that the name was familiar. "But I like the name Jurassic. It's unique and_"
"Where did she go?" Devin interrupted not planning to listen to his endless blabbering again.
"She left for Sierra hotel." He said.
"Why did she go? I told you to call me in case she goes out." Devin yelled making a call to someone urgently. Since the day Leena told that she is afraid of someone, Devin has appointed secret protection to look for her in case she goes out alone.
"Her friend has invited her to a party and you are worrying way_"
Before Drew could finish, the door was shut by a loud bang startling him.
"I wish I had a girlfriend to worry about." With a dramatic sigh, Drew started playing again.
....
Devin hurriedly got down from the car when he reached the hotel and strolled towards the entrance. Being a high-end luxury hotel, Sierra was crowded with the affluents. Devin was long used to the stares and gasps people would throw at him and he knew the media is loitering around to gossip on him, but he didn't care.
Right, when he walked into the hall, he caught sight of Leena scrambling in the hallway without any clue of her direction. He was startled to see her red eyes.
"Is she crying?" Devin was worried that it's something to do with her past again. He felt his heart crashed seeing her in a state of pain. Why I am the one to witness her cries again and again?
It seems Leena sensed his presence already, she halted her footsteps suddenly and her eyes scooted in the direction Devin was standing without any inkling of her whines.
Hell-bent lose after seeing him, she rushed and hugged him tightly. Sometimes a hug is worth more than a thousand words but when she remembered, he taunted her for hugging a lot during their scavenger hunt, she felt scared that he would not like it and was ready to let go, but she was pulled into his strong embrace squeezing her lithe body. His hug was so firm that she could hear his heartbeat and for a moment everything felt so calm and safe like nothing could hurt her.
"Why are you crying suddenly? Did something happen?" He whispered. Her mild sobs were poking his heart mercilessly. Who dared to make her cry? The people wandering in the hotel were gazing with open mouths but they were too bothered to see.
"My head is spinning like someone has hit my brain with a rod. Can you take me home? I forgot the directions also. I don't know anybody here." She whimpered, Ethan's harsh slaps were still attacking in her memory. She had a migraine for seven to eight-day straight away, unable to sleep on most of the days after that night. The worst days she has encountered and even before she could recover from the nightmares, she suffered a near-death accident. She couldn't understand what sort of animosity he held towards her to make her life living hell.
"Shall I take you to the hospital? It's going to be all right." He whispered continuing to rub the back of her head in an attempt to console her. He doesn't know the person responsible for her crying but, one thing he understood, it's time to know about it. He has to understand what sort of pain she has undergone in the past.
"No! I am feeling dizzy_"
When he heard her haggard breathing and flunked her body without answering further, Devin lifted her in his arms and rushed out of the hotel. He made a quick call to one of his men when he could see the paparazzi waiting outside. Right now he doesn't want any distractions seeing her wretched state.
"Listen ahead, Ford! Paparazzi at 9 0'clock and 12 0'clock. I don't want any interruptions today!" Devin ordered and ended the call right after he delivered the message to keep them in check.
He fled towards his car and when he was about to open the car door, a group of men whisked in front of them with a camera.
"Mr. Wang, can you show the women's face in your arms?"
The media was shooting question after questions, but Devin did not care even if he was caught by paparazzi, he was only concerned about Leena's condition.
"Are you dating her? Can you tell her name at least ?" A man spoke upholding a microphone.
One after the other, a bunch of paparazzi stood in front of him not ready to leave before they got the answers.
"Can you please give us a statement? How long you have been dating her? Is she a celebrity?" Another woman spoke up.
When they started clicking the photos, a group of men marched forward blocking the media paths.
"Sorry for the late, sir! I will take care of them."
"Seize the cameras," Devin commanded and stepped in the car.
"Head to the home." He ordered his driver and called Michael to arrive home with a female doctor.
"Shh...Calm down." He pulled her closer when her body was shivering endlessly.
"Don't cry. I am there for you." He whispered, patting her back at a steady pace to soothe her pain. Soon, her soft whimpers stopped followed by steady breathing and Leena slipped into a dream unconsciously.
...
Leena was wandering in an endless abyss afraid of being alone in the dark. She looked around to find protection but all she could see was darkness. She walked continuously, but the hope of being able to see the light was not in her reach until she saw a tall silhouette in the shadows flickering an aura powerful enough to pull a person from the darkness into brightness.
She has been catching a glimpse of a shadow of him in her dreams for a long time from the time she suffered the accident. But he would neither show his face nor talk with her. Feigning his ignorance, she felt pain for being shunned again.
"Who are you? Why don't you show your face to me?" She pleaded.
"I am the lone person who met you on my life's darkest road and your soul has become my moon." His voice had loneliness when he spoke as if he is waiting for something for a long time.
"I am your moon? Then why didn't you show up before?" Leena felt her heart race when he started approaching in her direction suddenly. When he completely came out of the shadows, Leena felt her soul perishing when she recognized the face. Even when he was Cocooned in shadows, Leena felt a mysterious vibe dropping from heaven on him. Slowly but surely, the darkness submerged and the light cast a shimmering glow on him when he emerged out with a smile that never left his face.
"The time has come that we cross our paths only now, sweetheart. Everything is going to be fine now and no matter what happens, I will be there for you always, and until my last breath, I will guard your life with eternity." He gently cupped her face and kissed her forehead with a loving smile. With a smile, Leena accepted his hand and he securely wrapped into his, guiding her from the darkness to light. His presence alone was enough for Leena to feel the strength to push the barriers.
...
Leena woke up with heavy breathing when her dream vanished.. It felt so real but sadly it was a dream.
