Chapter 394 - Hummus
Chapter 394 - Hummus
Kyle was happily chatting with a patient, not knowing one kiss has turned a misogynist's life upside down.
Not paying attention to the work, considering it a board exam, Kurt began writing tests after tests to prove the online sites are phoneys. In turn, he was knocked to six when they proved otherwise. Every forum he hits and every quiz he takes proved him..no, it's more likely, they convinced him that he is in love.
''What do I do now?'' Kurt muttered, thinking hard. The sudden onset of these foreign feelings made him tottering and excited at the same time. He never wanted to go down in the path of love, or more likely, he never thought about girls in the first place. Before he met her, not in a nelly, Kurt knew a smile could appear on his face for no reason, just like it's happening now. His hand itched to grab the mobile, call her, and listen to her voice when all of a sudden, a knock on the door interrupted his task.
A team of five arrived for a meeting. It was a discussion for one of the hot cases, Leius Pharma labs, yet Kurt's concentration drifted to someone else constantly.
''..It's obvious that the company is receiving immense support from the higher authorities.'' One of the team members debated, turning to Kurt. ''What do you say, sir?''
''Ummm..does she like me as well?'' Kurt muttered. ''I still can't believe I am in love with the Loose Case.''
''Sir?'' A man sitting opposite Kurt frowned, unable to catch his words. All the eyes turned to Kurt, who was smiling like a turkey. Yet, Kurt was not baffled by their stares.
''What's wrong with him today?'' One of them whispered to the other.
The Giant sitting next to Kurt cleared his throat to bring Kurt's attention back to the meeting. ''Sir, wake up. We are in a meeting.''
Kurt snapped out of his thoughts with a start and immediately turned his attention to the team, who were looking at him curiously. ''I am_I'' He can't believe he zoned out in an important meeting. ''Where are we?''
''We were talking about_''
''Let's continue the meeting tomorrow.'' He said, dismissing the team. He was sure that Loose Case would again knock his brain and turn him into a fool if he extends the meeting.
Although confused about Kurt's behavior, the team left the room without question, except the Giant.
''Sir.'' The Giant said. ''I need your help.''
''What kind of help?'' Kurt asked.
''My parents either wants me to get married or find a girlfriend quickly,'' The Giant started. ''But I want to date a girl, then get married. Considering our job status, bloody youth girls are turning me down.'' He knocked his fist on the table as he recalled his ex-girlfriend, who rejected him blatantly after dating for a month and accepted a puny's proposal just because he is in an IT profession.
''What's wrong with being in FBI?'' Kurt asked rather curiously. ''It's a highly paid profession.''
''I know.'' The Giant sighed. ''But don't you know? Girls want security, and we are always involved in dangerous missions, which make us the last option to think of.''
Kurt's mind went blank hearing the statement. He felt like he was drowned in a sea of love, only to be brought back to the surface in a flash. 'Does Kyle think the same as other girls? If I tell her I will be careful during missions, will she accept me?..no..no..Am I going crazy? Why do I think about marriage with her.'
''I challenged my parents that I will find a girlfriend in a month before my Ex-girlfriend marries.'' The Giant spoke up determinedly. ''So, I need your help.''
''What am I suppose to do?'' Kurt asked a matter-of-factly.
''It's simple.'' The Giant sprinted towards Kurt's chair. He enthusiastically added. ''Didn't you tell you went to the same school as of the beautiful Doctor's?''
''So?'' Kurt raised his brows suspiciously.
''I fell in love with the Doctor.'' The Giant grinned sheepishly without noticing Kurt's darkening gaze.
The Giant continued. ''I feel a close bond developed between the doctor and me when we stayed in the hospital. I would be pleased if you can help me in courting the doctor. By your grace, if the wedding bells ring in a month, I will name our first baby as Kurt_''
The chair straightaway hit the glass wall before the Giant completed his words.
The Giant shuddered as he watched Kurt's face brimming with hostility. Did I speak something wrong? He wondered.
''How does it sound to hear Clemence Christ's name on the Cemetery headstone by tomorrow?'' Kurt's eyes were menacing as he stared at the Giant. Has he turned a blind eye to her love interests? Not anymore.
''You sure know to crack a joke.'' The Giant grinned, shaking his head in disbelief. ''Why would it appear on the headstone unless I am dead?''
Pulling the revolver, which was tucked at the back of his pant, Kurt tenderly grazed it with a sinister smile. ''Because it takes at least a day to put on your name on the headstone if I kill you today.''
''Are you kidding me?'' The Giant shouted, but he fled away to save his dear life when Kurt aimed the gun straight to his head.
''Dare to look at her next time.'' He muttered at the retreating figure of the Giant. For the whole day, Kurt didnot work a bit. Wearing a silly smile on his face, he recalled their first restroom meeting, the second meeting at Devin's house, and then the shopping arena incident to yesterday's drunken kiss. His face felt hot again, like the weather in the spring.
Knowing her shifts at the back of his mind, Kurt drove to her home directly without informing her beforehand. Standing in front of the door, Kurt lifted his hand to knock on the door, but in the next second, his fists clenched, halting in mid-air. ''What do I tell if she asks_''
Just in time, his words ceased when the door opened, slowly revealing her beautiful face.
''Kurt!'' Kyle screamed in wonderment. She opened the door to go for a walk, but she got a surprise in the name of Kurt. Not even in her dreams, Kyle expected Kurt would stand at her doorstep. ''What brings you here?''
''I_I wanted to ask if you still have the headache.'' He blabbered whatever clicked in his mind. All in honest, he missed her. He missed her smile. He missed everything about her.
''Thanks for asking. I am fine.'' Kyle smiled sheepishly for a brief moment. Has he come all the way to check on me? His opinions on the woman are changing for good. The thought itself put a smile on her face. "I made dinner. Do you want to grab a bite?'' She opened the door open for him to enter.
Given a chance, Kurt readily stepped inside and followed her. Delighted to taste the food Kyle made, Kurt's mouth watered at the sight of Zucchini boats. However, the moment he took a bite, he felt his tastebuds had put on a shower cap. Kurt rushed towards the washbowl immediately.
''What's wrong?'' Kyle's eyes clouded with concern. ''Didn't you like the food?''
''You made it?'' Kyle hesitantly nodded to his question.
''Is it bad?''
''Had I not known you are a doctor, I would have assumed you are an owner of a salt company,'' Kurt scowled at her. Think about it, he had seen Kyle eating her cooked food for every meal. Her food is the worst he had tasted. ''Where is the kitchen?''
''Growling dog,'' Kyle muttered, leading him into the kitchen.
''What did you call me?''
''I said you are a very kind person,'' Kyle stressed, flashing a smile. ''Happy?''
''You better be.'' He added on. ''Get the vegetables.'' On his order, Kyle picked every ingredient he asked and placed them in front of him.
As Kurt began making dinner, Kyle attentively followed his every move.
''Kurt.''
''Hmm...What?'' He turned to her yet continued to mix the vegetables.
''You have got hummus on your face,'' Kyle said, staring at his lips because a memory jogged.
''Where?'' He wiped everywhere except the spot. At last, Kyle chipped in.
''It's here.'' Kyle wiped the hummus sitting at the edge of his lips with the back of her hand. Kurt froze again, dropping the spatula feeling her skin.
A memory flashed in Kyle's brain as her hands brushed past his lips. Her eyes widened.. Before she could retreat, he caught her and pulled her into his embrace.
