Chapter 154: Annoying mosquitos.
Chapter 154: Annoying mosquitos.
Ark wouldn't really call himself a believer of fate, but seeing these three humans in front of him, he couldn't help but feel that it was a little weird. This was one hell of a coincidence. In front of them, one young lady and two men stood quietly. The young lady was standing in the middle, and her hair was a rare dark green colour.
Next to her were two twins, both clothed in dark blue armour, with azure coloured eyes and pitch-black hair.
The three of them seemed to be in pretty bad shape at the moment, especially the two guards. The girl was always being protected by the two, and so her shape was fairly good, but the same could not be said about the twins. This time they had been through a fierce battle, one of them had a long cut along his stomach, and the other one had small wounds all over his body.
Even though their injuries were a little different, they were both covered in their own blood.
When they saw Thufrat in front of them, they were a little relieved, that was until they saw the three elemental wolves on the ground behind him, that were cautiously eyeing them up. Both twins instinctively reached for their swords when they saw this, but when they did, Thufrat squinted his eyes, and pulled out a large warhammer from his spatial bag.
If these guards wanted to fight, then he would gladly oblige. No one was allowed to make trouble when he was around.
Since the elemental wolves seemed to be with the dwarf, both twins put their swords back in their sheaths, as they weren't sure if they would be able to beat these three with these injuries. Nonetheless, if they really had to fight, then they would make sure that their young lady got away safely with all of their strength.
At least that was their plan, if they truly fought with Ark to the death right now, then none of them would be able to escape with their lives.
The young lady didn't want any fighting right now, these twins had already done enough for her, and she didn't want them to perish if she could avoid it. "I'm sorry about my guards, they are a little on edge, I apologise if they offended you!" As she apologised, the young lady bowed lightly.
The guards wouldn't let their young lady apologise for them and bow all by herself, and they bowed sincerely with her.
Thufrat just scoffed and put away his warhammer for now, he was a little annoyed at the moment. These people had immediately drawn their swords at the sight of his best friend, how could he not be annoyed? Still, he didn't let his expression get too exaggerated, but it was still really obvious that he was annoyed.
The lady felt a little odd as she had never really apologised sincerely like this before, and it seemed like this dwarf didn't even really care.
She sighed to herself, there was nothing that could be resolved with just a half-assed apology after all. But this wasn't a big issue to begin with, the dwarf was only annoyed.
"I know it's a bit presumptuous of me to ask, but do you think you could help them?" She pointed to her guards, she sincerely hoped that this dwarf could help them, as she didn't want to see her personal guards suffer like this, especially not when they had just been protecting her.
"That depends, will you guys leave us alone if I help you?" Thufrat didn't want to get dragged into unnecessary trouble if possible, but lending a helping hand in exchange for peace and quiet didn't sound too bad.
"If that's what you want then sure!" From the tone of his voice, the young lady assumed that he would be able to help them if they agreed to his conditions, and considering that his condition was to be left alone, she quickly agreed. It wasn't like they intended to stay here for long either way.
After getting her confirmation, Thufrat just glanced at Ark, and expected him to use his magic. Even though he hadn't seen Ark for a while, Thufrat was sure that he would still help people in need if he could, like he had always done. Contrary to his expectations, Ark hesitated.
He didn't want this stranger to know his secret, but after thinking about it a little, he just ended up thinking that he was a little too cautious. How would she know it was him? They had only met a single time, and he probably didn't leave much of a lasting impression.
Since he had decided, he quickly enveloped both the twins in his light mana, and thoroughly healed the wounds that riddled their bodies. The young lady didn't expect such a development, and she glanced at this wolf that lying on the ground in front of her. As she glanced into the depths of his glowing golden eyes, she felt a weird sense of déjà vu.
She had definitely seen those eyes before, but at the same time, she was sure that she had never seen his wolf before.
Her thoughts were a little disarrayed, as she couldn't stop staring into Ark's eyes. Ark himself was feeling a little flustered, why was this woman staring into his eyes all of a sudden? Did she find out who he was? How was that possible!
Ark started to quickly become paranoid, and as a result, he started to heal the two twins even faster, since he just wanted them to leave before this woman was able to figure out it was him.
Unlike Ark, Ephine was not feeling flustered when this woman stared into his eyes, instead, she felt annoyed. As to why she was so annoyed, she wasn't really sure, but she didn't like this feeling at all.
Just like Ark and Thufrat, she just wanted these people to leave, her impression of them had suddenly gone from nothing special to that of an annoyance, much like an annoying mosquito buzzing in your ear when you tried to sleep.
Ark's healing magic was very formidable, and the wounds healed at a speed that was clearly visible to the naked eye. Even though the healing magic was very formidable, these knights had been healed by even stronger healing magic in the past, by a saint of their kingdom, so there wasn't any astonishment because of its strength.
What was more astonishing was the fact that Ark, a magical beast was healing them.
But even then, the astonishment quickly disappeared when they understood that Ark was probably just this dwarf's summoned beast. But when they realised that there were two more of these wolves, confusion started to invade their minds. They had never heard of someone who could summon three elemental wolves before, especially not an entire family.
Did that mean that these three wolves were not summoned beasts? This thought was plaguing their minds, as they couldn't determine if that was actually the case or not.
It would be surprising either way, but if they were not summoned beasts, then it meant that these three wolves were friends with this dwarf, which was amazing to say the least.
