Chapter 156: Investing
Chapter 156: Investing
Ark knew himself that his thinking right now was a little naïve, but he couldn't care less, this was a good chance to earn a lot of experience, and he would certainly not just let it go. The rest of the enemies were almost evenly matched with the other twin and the young lady, mostly due to their fatigue, but it presented Ark with an opportunity, and he took it.
Not even a minute passed, and Ark had already slaughtered every single monster in the vicinity. The trio were of course surprised by his help, but more than that, they were surprised by how excited he seemed to be when he killed all of the monsters. This excitement was a mix of Ark's bloodlust and excitement for experience points, which created quite a peculiar mood.
For once, Ark's bloodlust didn't take over completely, and he managed to stay fairly rational, he just had to try really hard to contain himself.
If he went out of control, then he would make some mighty enemies. Ark knew that this trio would probably take care of these monsters without him, none of them had used any of their trump cards after all, and considering their status, he was sure that they had a lot of trump cards that were still hidden.
With that said, Ark probably wouldn't be able to beat them if he went out of control, and even if he managed to survive, the forces behind them obviously wouldn't just sit still.
Ark quickly let these thoughts run through his mind, and then he tried to stop thinking about it. In the end, he didn't lose control, so there was no reason for him to dwell too much on what would've happened if he did. This monsters had all been abnormally high level, and Ark had no idea where they had actually come from, but in the end, he was still happy that he had run into them.
After living in the forest for a while, Ark had already accumulated some levels and status points that he hadn't used yet, and with another new influx of status points, he decided that it was time to think a little about it.

Status points [60]
Seeing this status that he hadn't opened up in a while, Ark was a little surprised to see the amount of times he had levelled up without even thinking about it. His telepathy had apparently levelled up to level 4 as well, but he didn't really think that it was shocking or anything like that, he had been using it a bit here and there after all.
When he saw his body refining skill, he felt a little stupid. This was such a powerful skill, it was basically free status points! Yet he had completely forgotten about it due to his cellular mana infusion skill.
Seeing the amount of points he had accumulated without thinking about it, Ark felt a little stupid, he shouldn't have let them accumulate to this level, even if at least 20 of them was from the fight just now, he had still let 40 points just waste away for no reason! When he thought about what he wanted to invest them in, he was a little stumped.
He would usually just invest them into his intelligence, but he felt like his wisdom was getting left too far behind.
Even though he didn't have any major problems with mana regeneration, it would still be nice if it was higher, as he would be able to extend the periods of time he was able to fight at full strength. The question was how much he wanted to invest in it. Did he want to invest every point he had? He wasn't really sure. After a little thought, he decided to just invest it all into wisdom.
He wanted to at least get it over a hundred, since he wasn't sure if he would get a skill or not when he passed it.
He didn't get any skill when his intelligence passed 100, but he couldn't be sure that the requirements were the same for every attribute, maybe it depended on his other attributes too, he had no way of knowing. Since just investing 20 points or so into intelligence wouldn't bring him any major improvements in strength, he thought that investing it into wisdom would be good enough for now.
At the very least it would catch up to his intelligence stat a little even if he didn't get any skills.
When he felt the nostalgic white light enveloping his entire figure, Ark felt at ease. He had felt this feeling so many times, and it felt just as good now as it did in the beginning. To Ark, this light was proof that he had grown, which made him feel good. After a second or so passed, the light disappeared into the void, and Ark just stood there.
There was no voice that told him about how he had gained a new skill, which disappointed him a little, but it didn't really matter too much either way. It just meant that the skill he would get when his wisdom passed 200 would be very powerful, hopefully on par with the cellular mana infusion skill.
Even if the skill was only close his cellular mana infusion, it would be worth the points. The sound of footsteps rapidly approached, and Ark got ready to fight once again. He didn't know the strength of the enemy this time, but he was always up for a good fight! To his surprise, there were no more monsters, but Thufrat was frantically running his way.
As he saw Thufrat, Ark felt a little stupid, of course he would come chasing after him if he just ran off like that.
When the trio saw Thufrat arriving, they all released sighs of relief. Even though Ark had saved them, they were still a little scared of what he might do. Now that Thufrat was here, he could hopefully control the situation, or at least that's what they thought.
In reality, Thufrat would have no means to stop Ark if he truly went on a rampage, he could only try and contest with his strength, but it wouldn't work in the end.
Nonetheless, Ark didn't lose control of himself either way, so there was no need for them to worry. Seeing the dwarf gasping for air as if he had ran a marathon was quite funny, agility wasn't his strong suit. Ark could cross such a distance in a matter of seconds, but for Thufrat it would be a matter of minutes.
But that was mostly because of Ark's use of wind magic, enhancing his speeds to a horrifying degree.
