Chapter 1441 Meetings in the dark I
Time was the most basic fundamental for all of existence, and yet it was not something that could easily be explained or understood. Mortals had their own ideas about it, and immortals their own. Even beings of Dao discussed time, yet even they only dared to discuss it, and none claimed to have mastered it.
The flow of time varied between realms, and the farther they were from maturity, the faster their flow of time was. It was for that reason that when the Midnight Realm was formed, Lex saw millions of years pass by as if mere seconds were passing.
Time was the one single constant in the entire universe, yet the flow of time was not constant anywhere.
At one particular instance of time, Lex was listening to a briefing about the Artica realm, while Jack was surfing the golden clouds in another realm. The flow of time for these two places was relatively similar. Yet at the same time, he was also completely aware of everything happening within the Midnight realm, where time was flowing much faster.
It was fortunate that he was an immortal with a formidable mind, or else he would have struggled to process such a deluge of information at various rates.
But unknown to him, elsewhere in the universe, there were places where the flow of time was even slower than that of Major realms.
In one such place, Lilith Val Kilger, sister of Loretta Pendal Val Kilger, daughter of the Devil Dao Lord Ballom, was sitting on a stone bench, her eyes closed as if she was meditating.
She had been like that for an unknown amount of time, but a strange sound suddenly awoke her.
Her eyes flashed open, though she dared not study her unfamiliar surroundings too closely. She stood up, her arms folded in front of her, as if anticipating the arrival of someone esteemed.
The solid stone doors in front of her suddenly opened, and from within them stepped forth a handsome devil - one who was known throughout the universe, though Lilith only knew him as her fathers right hand devil.
"The Lord will see you know, little Lilith," the devil said with a warm smile, as if looking down on a beloved niece. But Lilith dared not treat him like a familiar uncle.
She bowed deeply, and walked through the doors.
Lilith was garbed in a special attire that had been specifically designed just for her, with the intention of allowing her to bear the presence of a Dao Lord. In fact, it was that 'familiar uncle' himself who had made her current attire. As a Demi-Dao Lord, and attendant for an actual Dao Lord, he had to do such things often.
Lilith was extremely nervous, for this was possibly the first time in her entire existence that she would meet her father's real body - if it was the real one. Who could say?
As for where she was, and why she had to meet her father here, those were questions she did not even have the right to ponder.
The farther along she walked, the less and less she could see and perceive of her surroundings, until eventually she felt like she was in a hall made entirely of black marable, illuminated with black lights, filled with black tables, holding black items, and countless figures cloaked entirely in black all around her.
It was clear that her perception was extremely skewed, but Lilith secretly felt like she was in a very special place - the kind of place she should never be able to enter.
"Well, what do you think?" she heard her father ask, though the question was clearly not pointed towards her.
"Yes, the cause and effect are genuine," responded another voice. "This cannot be faked. Someone has made the first move."
There was a pause, or perhaps Lilith could no longer hear what was being said. All she knew was that she stood there for a while longer, until eventually her father spoke to her.
"You have done well, Lilith. You may return, and do as you please. You may collect your rewards in Garvitz whenever you have the strength to do so. They will be in your mothers palace."
Lilith nodded deeply, and quickly departed. From start to end she said nothing, but she felt no disappointment. Instead, she was almost overwhelmed by excitement! She had earned the praise of a Dao Lord!
This was much more valuable than simply winning the appraisal of a parent. The praise of a Dao Lord was a tangible force that would alter her Karma, and basically her whole life, for the better!
Back in that hall, Ballom turned to look from his daughter back at the rest of the room. All around were dome shaped pieces of marble, either black or white, placed on various levels, as if on a model map.
"Does this mean that we are executing the plan?" Ballom asked.
Numerous other figures in the room moved, as if pondering the question. There was a Celestial, sitting in the far end of the hall, and between him and Ballom there were other humanoid races. There were elves, there were angels, there were dwarves, there was even a giant, and a few more. Of the more widely known humanoid races, only humans and fairies seemed to be missing. Of course, that was also because they were the only two without Dao Lords to even attend such a meeting.
"As far as we can tell, there has been no direct word from Mother Nuwa. Even so, the first step has been taken. We must assume that there is more in play than we have the right to know.
"The attention of the universe is diverted. The Dragons and Elementals do not care to target others, the Divine Patrons are too busy with their own war, and the Banks… well, the Banks will do what they do best and stay in the background. Ventura will look towards Artica, for its unusual laws threaten the balance of power accumulation they have carefully nurtured, while the Hellions and Seraphines will both be focused on disrupting the Nephilim project.
"No one will suspect that we are up to something in the background. The pieces are all in place, we just need to ensure that everything goes according to plan. Just to be sure that no one suspects anything of us, we have decided to heavily invest in the Henali's Origin realm, making everyone think that it will be the last Major realm to form before this era comes to a close."
