Chapter 469

Chapter 469: Unexpected Arrival

On the other hand, Charles was present in his meeting room, addressing an important meeting with the investors who have specially come to the state to sign the deal. Initially, this meeting was supposed to be addressed by Mr. Shawn Johnson but due to his absence, it was Charles who left no stone unturned to not let anyone else feel his absence much.

He had been vigorously working with his back, to show that there was no need for a father like him. He had a headache, someone who already left with the life of his son.

“Mr. Johnson, the department we are seeking into is currently at the low position. Liquidity isn’t coming inside and even if we try to meet the outcome, our shortage of the investment will not be in our favor.”

“We can always invest more in liquidity. Always remember that any project which doesn’t bring any returns, what values can it add up to us? Take the points and find out the way to bring the cash for daily use. Flotation cost should be met.” Charles answered with the same attitude and seriousness embedded in his tone.

His eyes were already filled with the dark aura, the thickness of the blackness. Indeed, he was ruthless since the change of circumstances took place.

But his sternness was the same reason for the company going smoothly for years now.

The manager nodded his head to note down the points. Afterward, he had started to elaborate further things. However, in the middle of them, Charles’s personal secretary had silently entered the room to look into his boss’s direction.

.....

He came directly to Charles, to cough a bit in the hope of gaining their attention. Within the seconds, Charles had used his fingers to point away the manager to stop talking for a while.

At the same time, finding the opportunity, his personal secretary bent down to come closer and whisper into Charles’s ears. “Sir, there is an email. I think you should see it.”

“I don’t have time for useless mails. Just tell me if there is anything important in that.” Charles’s nostalgic reply took the personal secretary aback. “But sir..there is personal content in that. I think it would be relevant for you to s-”

“Speak.” was all Charles answered, without sparing him any glance.

Initially, the secretary was filled with sweats but holding his breath, he finally blurted out. “Mr. Jack Shen wishes to meet you.”

The name was itself a big uproar in his life. Someone who caused the turmoil in his life years ago. Everything turned upside down for him and repeating the same name again, Charles’s eyes bulged out.

Yet he didn’t show the same forbidden expression. He was shocked to the core, but that same wasn’t noted from his outer body. Without any drastic fall, he maintained the composure, “Reason for the meeting?”

“He has mentioned that if you wish to know why your lover left you years ago, you need to meet him at the terrace tonight.”

“Dismiss.”

H-Huh? Secretary, was himself surprised, with himself not able to comprehend what his boss was trying to say and display?

Was that all he needed to know? But the integral change in his aura and he had no wish to provoke the sleeping tiger anymore. “Alright, sir.”

With this, the Personal Secretary immediately left the meeting room and Charles was again left with the manager, who was waiting for him to continue speaking. Initially, Charles didn’t even move the manager to speak, which raised the bars, ‘S-sir... Do you want me to....”

“Continue what we were talking about.”

....

The night dwelled very soon, and the family of four had already retarded to their beds. For the night itself, Sierra, and the children decided to sleep in the same room along with Jack.

The bed was big enough for four of them to fit in, and Sierra had occupied the left corner. In between were the two children, already deeply fallen into the slumber, Whereas, Jack Shen was currently resting and sleeping on the right-hand side of the bed.

The moon rays were coming inside their room, causing the family to fall. But then, Jack’s eyes snapped open. He rotated his head to view that the rest of the family members were currently asleep.

Taking a deep breath, he, first of all, removed the blanket from his body. On the corners, he had kept the pillows to not let the children roll to his rise and fall on the ground either.

Afterward, he had silently walked out of the room while closing the doors of the room after glancing for the very last time at his beloved wife... and children.

Because tonight’s actions were going to bring a drastic change in everyone’s life.

Carrying a bottle of champagne in his hand, Jack had simply moved out from the apartment into his pajamas and a gray shirt. With the sleepers into his foot, he had simply taken the elevator to go to the terrace and arrive there to find his secretary waiting for him.

“Sir, as per your mail, I had conveyed the message. But in return, I got no answer from their side..” The personal assistant commented, to which Jack didn’t bother. “It’s alright. Make sure that no one else comes above the terrace. Keep a close eye.”

“I will do that, sir.”

On Jack’s orders, the terrace was opened only for two people tonight. Either there was Charles’s presence or he was going to drink all the bottles of the wine all on his own.

Coming near the railings, he saw from the terrace and down, to find the great heights. But then, his eyes we pulled above to see the moon shining bright in the darkest of the sky.

Jack had already filled his glass, and the other one too. Lifting his glass, he was just going to bring it near his lips to take a sip but a smirk had pulled over. “I wasn’t expecting your arrival so soon, Mr. Johnson.”

“Don’t spout nonsense, Mr. Shen. We both know why am I here today.”
