Chapter 288: The Astral Spire!
Chapter 288: The Astral Spire!
......
'I wanted my daughter to live a different life than I did'
Marina started thinking to herself as a doleful aura pervaded the lonesome throne room.
'But in the end, she was thrown into the exact same thing as me.'
Her head turned up, her eyes lifelessly staring at the seashells that adorned the ceiling of the throne room.
"I failed her, didn't I?" She began with a tearful tone.
"Aqua already started to hate me after I told her about the marriage 'agreement' with the FireGod Kingdom, and after she finds out about the kill order I just sent out, Sh-She w-will"
Drip!
A dazzling crystalline tear hit the ground of the hollow halls as the 'All-Powerful' and conniving one that ruled over tens of millions of miles of landa woman like that started to cry.
Drip! Drip!
It wasn't a complete dam that ruptured, but it was enough that one could feel the extreme anguish in her tears.
Marina simply sat on her throne, the throne that she worked her whole life forthe throne that wanted to obtain so she could give a better life for her daughter, it was that throne that she let out everything she had bottled up over the years.
Drip! Drip! Drip!
"M-My daughter," she began with a hoarse voice as one of her pretty hands was put up against her tear stricken eyes.
"S-She will be defiled by that prince of the FireGod Kingdom, a-and I can do nothing"
Her heart constricted in on her as tears never stopped falling onto her breasts.
She had heard rumors of the prince that had proposed marriage to the AquaRing Kingdom.
She had heard of the things he did to the women in his Kingdomthings that would leave girls within an inch of their lives.
And it was such a thing that brought even greater sorrow to the lonesome Queen who sat upon an empty throne.
*****
"A-Azmond..." A meek voice whispered.
*Tug*
"Yes, Calista?"
An affectionate voice echoed out as Azmond turned his head in the direction of the girl tugging at his kimono.
"I'm scared of heights"
Calista's timid voice came out in a slightly shaky tone as her fluffy cat ears bent down a little.
"Oh."
That was all Azmond said in response, as he realized he might've definitely made a mistake by going up to the Astral Spirala seemingly infinitely stretching spire that stretched upward for tens of thousands of miles.
"Come here, Calista," Azmond said as he gestured to her.
"You can just hide your eyes in my kimono. I promise nothing will happen to you until we make it to the top," he declared with a kind voice as he invited her into his embrace.
"Mhmm"
Calista lightly nodded her head before disappearing into his side hug.
|Let me in on the hugs too!|
Boundless chimed in with a cheerful voice before she hugged Azmond's right side.
"Mhmu! Mhmu!"
Emu wasn't one to be left out, as a long, menacing black katana on Azmond's back wiggled a little before morphing into a black and gold slime!
*Jiggle Jiggle*
Emu bounced a little before settling into his bed of long, raven black hair.
'Well, at least they're all happy.'
A small, imperceptible smile emerged on his face as he felt the body warmth of his companions.
WHZZ!
The space Azmond and gang found themselves on was, in actuality, the large, 5-mile-wide elevator that brought all 'visitors' of the sixth step to the top of the 'Astral Spiral'.
...
Three months had already passed since Azmond, Boundless, Emu, and Calista had started their ascent into the third step of the Luminous Grounds.
They had explored almost every interesting place or establishment from the third through the sixth floors.
However, there was one last place that they wished to visit before they climbed up to the seventh step.
That place being the...
Astral Spire!
{[Astral Spire.]}
[A large and expansive blue and red spire that extends upwards for tens of thousands of miles.]
[It was established hundreds of thousands of years ago by the descendants of the 'insane monsterkin scientists' who attempted to create a plethora of different mutants that they termed 'mobile worlds']
[This sprire was created for the sole purpose of attempting to breach past the rules that restrict all cultivators below the Tribulation Transcendence Realm from leaving the 'Starry Seaboard']
[Purpose Status: Failed] [Reason For Failure: The Spire collapsed at its top upon reaching over the one hundred thousand mile markthe milestone that separates the world of Asterion from what lies beyond.]
[A large portion of the spire was destroyed upon coming into contact with the spatial energies that separate Asterion from what lies beyond]
[It was due to such destruction to the Spire that the 'Descendants of the Insane Scientists' ditched their attempt at creating a building that could breach the layer of space above.]
[The 'Astral Spire' was turned into nothing more than a tourist attraction as profiteers and capitalists remodeled and transformed the structure into a 'sight-seeing attraction'.]
[The 'Descendants of the Insane Monsterkin Scientists' refocused their efforts back on the experimentation and augmentation of their own species.]
[The 'Mobile World' project was set back into motion.]
This was what Azmond was able to discern with his Quantum Eye upon checking out the system interface for the Astral Spire.
And it was due to such an intriguing description (and the pleas of Boundless) that he decided to take an elevator to the top.
|Look, look, Azmond! It's one of those big flying birdies again!|
Boundless called out with an effervescent voice as she pointed her finger outside a large window.
The entire 'Astral Spire Elevator' was encased and surrounded by a wide layer of robust glassglass that allowed all the tourists and visitors to observe the scenery outside.
Azmond heard the proclamation made by Boundless as his raspy voice resounded not long after:
"Yah They are something else, alright," he muttered.
His gaze followed her finger as he watched a sixty thousand-meter-long dinosaur-like monster fly by.
