Chapter 142 - End Of Summer Break
Chapter 142 - End Of Summer Break
The next day, An Luxia woke up like usual in Mo Han's embrace. It was a warm day and the sun was out, shining in through the curtains.
The two of them woke up at around the same time, and An Luxia smiled at him the first thing in the morning, "Good morning."
Mo Han knew that there was obviously something wrong after what had happened yesterday, but he did not say anything and replied, "Good morning."
An Luxia buried her head into his chest and he played around with her hair, both of them not getting out of bed even though both of them had woken up already, "Do you have anything to do today?"
Mo Han shook his head, "No. What about you?"
An Luxia looked up with a smile, "No, of course I don't. Summer break is ending soon. Do you want to go somewhere?"
Mo Han frowned, "Go somewhere? Go where?"
An Luxia closed her eyes and thought about it for a while, thinking, "It's not too hot outside today. Do you want to go out on a walk together?"
Mo Han nodded, "Okay."
---
An Luxia wore a long flowy yellow dress with a straw hat as she stepped out of the house and into the warm weather, looking around happily, "Mo Han, come out!"
She put on a pair of sunglasses even though the sun wasn't completely out today. Mo Han came out dressed in a yellow shirt a similar shade to the one An Luxia was wearing as he looked around, "It's not that hot today."
"I know, which is why the lake is a good place to be!" She reached for his hand and they entered the car together. The driver looked at the two of them with some wonders and confusions inside his head, but he did not say anything as he drove them down to a nearby lake.
As it was summertime and everyone thought the weather was nice today, there were a lot of people at the lake, having picnics, walking around, and doing other things.
An Luxia grabbed onto Mo Han's hand as they slowly circled the lake, and when they reached the middle, An Luxia chuckled, "Do you remember? That is where you fell into the water before?"
Mo Han looked over to where she was pointing and heard her burst into laughter at the memory, and he pursed his lips together, "It was all Qin Wei's dumb ideas."
An Luxia laughed, "You are pretty dumb to trust him!"
They continued to walk, feeling the gentle wind against the two of them as they walked in silence, none of them saying anything. However, this silence and calmness could not go on forever.
An Luxia turned to look at Mo Han, stopping in her tracks as she stared into his eyes, "Don't do it. . . You won't do it, right?"
Mo Han looked at her and did not say anything for several seconds, "Don't worry."
An Luxia was not pleased by the answer, but at the same time, she knew that she could not stop Mo Han from doing what he chose to do, so she continued walking with him.
Now that the topic had been brought up, Mo Han started talking about, "Are you going to tell your family about. . ."
An Luxia shook her head, "It's okay, I'm not going to tell them. . . yet."
After the whole thing with Hu Yiyi, her parents had gotten a little suspicious about what Mo Han did for a living, but they did not press them on the subject. If she were to tell her parents about it, she would certainly have to also expose Mo Han's occupation.
However, that was not the main thing. She also did not want to see her parents' reaction to the news. It was painful enough to lose someone in your life, but losing the younger generation. . . An Luxia could not even think about it.
They had always thought of her as their daughter, so knowing that she was dying would most definitely be even more painful than if she just disappeared one day. The feeling of dreading something that you know will happen is worse than the event happening.
The sky suddenly dimmed as the sun hid behind some clouds, and near the lake, the temperature was dropping even though it was summertime.
"It's getting cold," Mo Han said, stopping, "Let's go back."
An Luxia nodded and they started walking back in the direction they came in. After they had returned to the car, they decided to go out to eat lunch.
It was almost as if nothing had happened at all, and once again, they avoided the topic, forgetting about it.
"When is your school starting again," Mo Han asked.
An Luxia thought about it as she swallowed the meatball, a little embarrassed that she did not even know the answer, "Let me check."
When she saw the date on her first, her mouth dropped, "What?! It's starting in one week! No!"
Mo Han chuckled at An Luxia's horrified expression and laughed, "You know, I can always just take care of you and you can stop going to school."
"No way! I have one more year to get my master's degree. I am not going to quit now," An Luxia lifted her head up proudly and continued to eat.
Mo Han smiled at her and nodded his head, "Okay, okay."
---
The next day, they went to the An family's house to eat dinner together for a special occasion. This time, An Yuchen brought his new girlfriend back home again, and a much better reaction was received from his family this time.
"Oh, Xinyi. I can't believe it! I watched you grow up and now you are going to become my daughter-in-law," Qi Lanyu said excitedly, looking between Yu Xinyi and then at An Luxia, who was also smiling.
"Ah, why are they so slow? Xiaxia, go in and check on them!" Qi Lanyu complained, looking towards the kitchen, where the three men were busy cooking.
An Luxia nodded and stood up, walking to the kitchen and sticking her head in, "We are all so hungry! Is the food almost ready?"
An Ping turned around and looked at his daughter with love, "Okay, okay. It's almost ready!"
An Luxia stuck her tongue out playfully and turned around, skipping away, "I'll set up the table."
A few minutes later, the six of them were seated around the table, chattering as they ate dinner. An Luxia and Mo Han were all very comfortable, none of them worried or thinking about the matter at hand.
Or, maybe they were both just very good at acting, because no one had any idea that something was wrong.
---
For the entire week, the two of them put aside all other matters, and An Luxia, the author who has not missed a single day of uploading a chapter for a year already, did not upload for this week.
They went from the beach to the movie theater, where they obviously watched another horror movie, and it was the best end of summer break An Luxia had that she did not even want to go back to school anymore.
However, this morning, she still dragged herself out of bed.
"You're going to be late," Mo Han warned, standing at the door as he watched An Luxia spring out of the door, straight past him, and got onto the car. He chuckled as he shut the door and entered the car after her, and the driver began driving down the mountain to school.
An Luxia glared at Mo Han, "Why didn't you wake me up when my alarm rang?"
Mo Han frowned, "Your alarm rang two hours before the time that school starts. Why are you waking up so early?"
"So this wouldn't happen! Now I'm going to be late to the first day of school."
Mo Han grinned and turned to the driver, saying, "Did you hear Mrs. Mo? She does not want to be late."
The driver nodded and then the next second, the car was speeding down the mountain as An Luxia shrieked and nervously grabbed onto the safety handle
---
Yu Xinyi was waiting for her at the front of the school, and she waved at An Luxia when they saw each other.
The two of them went to class together and sat next to each other, and Yu Xinyi looked around, "I think Liya is taking this class as well. I wonder where she is."
An Luxia's face immediately stiffened when she heard this as her arms which were reaching for her books froze. She gulped and did not say anything, not responding to Yu Xinyi's comments as she pulled out her books.
Yu Xinyi did not know about anything that had happened and An Luxia did not plan on telling her. The professor came in a few minutes later, and throughout the entire class, Shen Liya did not show herself.
After the day, Yu Xinyi and An Luxia were certain of one thing.
Shen Liya was gone.
