Chapter 143 - Qi Yu's Arrival
Chapter 143 - Qi Yu's Arrival
Inside the mansion, Mo Han glared at the computer screen as he slammed the pen onto the table, which rolled down onto the ground, the glass end of the pen shattering into tiny pieces.
"Why isn't it working?" He exclaimed, closing his eyes tiredly and annoyedly. The worker that stood in front of the desk looked down at the ground.
"Mr. Mo, it seems like our people are disappearing before they can reach the target destination." The worker said softly, afraid to speak too loud in fear of angering his boss.
Mo Han pinched the area of skin between his eyebrows as he sighed, frustrated at the current situation. He had to find a way to attack the Si Organization to get his father to retreat and forget about his plan, but at the same time, he could not just destroy them or launch a bomb at them and destroy the entire area.
He still needed the cure and only the Si Organization had a possible cure. . . Indeed, his father was a tough and sly character. His father must have known that he would not be able to just get rid of them because there was still something important in the hands of the Si Organization that he needed desperately.
And, the Si Organization was even more powerful than Mo Han had thought and their previous plans and attacks had all failed.
---
One month had passed and there seemed to be nothing wrong. An Luxia went to school every day and skipped back home in the best mood possible, writing her novels and doing her school work without any sign of being a person that was slowly dying.
Mo Han also kept himself in a good mood as they ate meals together and spent as much time together as possible. It was a while into September and autumn was nearing as the temperature began to drop.
"Plan Q did not work," K reported inside Mo Han's office after An Luxia had fallen asleep. During this time, Mo Han had gotten much thinner and there were always dark eye bags underneath his eyes, making An Luxia very worried about him.
However, she could not do anything. She knew that he would go into his office and do work after she had fallen asleep, and she talked to him about it, but he continued to sneak into his office at night after the world had gone to sleep.
Mo Han did not seem very surprised anymore as all of the HLX's plans and attacks on the Si Organization had all failed, "Try again."
His fingers continued to type away on the computer, which flashed once in a while, "I'm coming up with a new plan. After this, I might be able to find a way to hack into their system."
K looked at the back of the computer and did not say anything, and the room fell into silence. After a while, Mo Han pressed a key and his fingers stopped as he looked at the screen in anticipation.
Then, there was a red button as the screen turned black and read: Error.
Mo Han tried to hide the frustration and anger on his face as he began typing again, and K did not know what to say as he slowly walked out of the room, shutting the door behind him.
As he walked out of the hallway, he turned a corner and found himself face to face with An Luxia.
"Mrs. Mo," K bowed down slightly and stopped.
"K, is he still working there?" An Luxia asked, standing in her nightgown.
K hesitated for a second before saying, "Yes, Mrs. Mo."
An Luxia nodded and walked past K, going down the hallway and stopping in front of the office. She pushed the door open and walked in.
Mo Han did not look up from the computer screen, thinking it was K again, "What is it?"
An Luxia did not respond and instead walked over to him, placing one hand over his arm, "Let's go to sleep."
Mo Han looked up, surprised to see An Luxia as he stopped his work on the computer immediately, "What are you doing here still up? You can go to sleep. I'll be there soon."
An Luxia looked at him seriously, not leaving any room for disagreement, "No, come to sleep with me right now."
She knew what he was up to all this time, and nothing seemed to be working. She could not let him sacrifice his own health for her.
Mo Han looked at the computer screen and then at her and finally stood up, "Okay."
The two of them walked back into the bedroom and Mo Han closed the lights, getting into the bed next to An Luxia as the two of them laid down on the soft cushion.
"Good night," An Luxia whispered.
"Good night."
---
It was almost October and Mo Han walked into the room, peeking inside to see An Luxia sitting on the bed with her phone in front of her face, "Luxia, come over."
An Luxia looked up, closing her phone as she walked over, "What is it?"
Mo Han smiled, grabbing onto her arm and pulling her out of the room and into the living room, where another person was waiting.
An Luxia looked at the person for a second, thinking that he looked oddly familiar, and she finally remembered who it was, "Qi Yu!"
The man wearing the doctor white robes was indeed Qi Yu, and he smiled brightly as Mrs. Mo had remembered him, "Yes, it's me."
Mo Han and An Luxia sat down next to each other on the other side and An Luxia leaned forward, asking, "What are you doing here?"
Mo Han spoke this time, "I brought him over to see if he can figure out what's wrong."
An Luxia's smile dampened when she heard the mention of her "problem" and she nodded, "Okay."
They had been to several doctors already, all of which were supposedly the best in their fields, but none could figure out what was wrong. Mo Siyan was not lying when he said that the magic of the Trap was that you won't be able to tell anything is wrong until the victim died.
Qi Yu had brought over a whole box of his equipment and a lot of other things, and he immediately began setting up, talking to them as he did so, "How have you two been during this time?"
An Luxia smiled politely as she watched him, "Pretty good."
There was a moment of silence as Qi Yu didn't even know what to say, because it obviously wasn't pretty good as she was dying. Why did he even ask such a dumb question?
So, he decided to do his job and ask about the problem, "Is it a type of drug?"
"It's called the Trap. We have been researching it lately, but even my group of scientists cannot figure out the science behind it. We don't know what they made it out of or how they created it, but it seems like a drug that enters the body and then slowly kills the person. Maybe like a parasite? I told you about it, right?"
Qi Yu nodded, "Yes, I was thinking about the symptoms you told me about, and I thought about a parasite too, but if it was a parasite, there would definitely be a way to figure out where the parasite is spreading to. The weird thing is how there is absolutely no hint of any unknown substance in the body and how it is a slow process. How can they control it from a distance?"
Qi Yu had finished setting up the necessary equipment and An Luxia moved over as he began performing a series of tests on her. Heartbeat, blood pressure, everything and anything you could think of and all of the test results appeared to be normal.
Qi Yu finished dejectedly and removed the stethoscope and wrapped it around his neck, "Everything appears to be normal."
This would normally be a positive statement but in this context, all of three of them were unhappy to hear about this result.
Mo Han's shoulders sagged although he was not very shocked by this result anymore. Qi Yu also did not know how to feel about this and he pulled out a tube, "Mrs. Mo, can I draw some of your blood to do some blood tests? Maybe there can be some clues in your blood."
An Luxia did not want to let go of any possibility and she rolled up her sleeve, placing her arm onto the table, "Sure."
Qi Yu ended up drawing several tubes of bright red blood and An Luxia felt a little lightheaded after he had finished. Qi Yu put the blood away and cleared his throat at the sight of Mo Han's unhappy expression.
Seeing that the big boss was getting upset, Qi Yu immediately jumped up, packing up his stuff at lightning speed, "Now that my job here is down, I'll return to my lab and see if I can figure something out! By, Mrs. Mo!"
Then, he sped out of the room.
