Chapter 394: Chapter 394: Be Careful
Seeing Luo Ziling standing there in a daze, Yang Qingye couldn’t help but feel very proud.
“Brother-in-law, if my sister hasn’t told you about the matters related to these people, then I’ll tell you sometime. Humph, not one of them is a good thing; I certainly don’t want my sister to marry any of them,” Yang Qingye said, lowering her voice to whisper a reminder to Luo Ziling, “Brother-in-law, I think Ouyang Feifei and Ouyang Huihui also want to make a move on you, so you should be worried, don’t be tempted by them.”
After issuing her reminder, she seriously threatened Luo Ziling, “My sister likes you, and she’s willing to fall out with our grandfather and father for you. You can’t let her down. If I discover you getting cozy with any other woman, I won’t let you off.”
“It seems like your sister said you frequently change girlfriends?” Luo Ziling retorted lightly.
Yang Qingye was instantly defeated and quickly put on a mournful face to explain, “I just realized in the end that they weren’t suitable for me. But it’s different with you two. You match in looks and learning, and what’s more important is that you’re very happy together. I’ve never seen my sister treat a man the way she treats you. You’re the first, and I believe you will be the only one, so you must cherish her.”
“Alright, I’ll remember your threat, and the next time your sister is after you, I’ll cover for you a bit,” Luo Ziling said.
Yang Qingye felt a mix of amusement and helplessness at Luo Ziling’s words.
“I have to go and propose a toast to Ouyang Huihui and Ouyang Feifei now. I’ll come back later and have a drink with you,” Yang Qingye, fearing Luo Ziling would expose her sore spot again, found an excuse to escape.
By this time, Ouyang Feifei and Ouyang Huihui were already holding glasses of red wine, toasting each guest who had arrived.
After Yang Qingye left Luo Ziling’s side, Ouyang Huihui approached with her glass raised and toasted Luo Ziling, “Ziling, thank you for your gift and for coming to bless the occasion. I’ll drink to that.”
Gazing at the stunningly beautiful Ouyang Huihui, who was looking unblinkingly at him, Luo Ziling had no choice but to clink glasses with her and drink it all.
“Don’t forget to dance with me later; I’m the birthday girl, so you have to dance the first dance with me,” Ouyang Huihui said with a smile of triumph, playfully sticking out her tongue at Luo Ziling. Seeing the baffled expression on his face, she couldn’t help but laugh again before running off to propose toasts to others.
Soon, Ouyang Feifei also approached, holding her red wine, and proposed a toast to Luo Ziling, “Let’s drink together.”
“Alright,” Luo Ziling replied, clinking his glass gently with Ouyang Feifei’s and then drinking the wine.
Ouyang Feifei too downed her wine in one gulp.
After having a bit of wine, a touch of red crept over her face, making her all the more entrancing. What was more lethal was that she deliberately flashed Luo Ziling a slight smile, almost sweeping his soul away. Up close to such a beautiful woman, shyly smiling at you, being able to breathe in the seductive scent emanating from her, it was quite an achievement for Luo Ziling to keep his composure.
If it were Cao Jianhui, or Li Fuming, or Wu Longjiang, they probably wouldn’t have been able to stop their drool or nosebleeds from flying out.
After saying a few words to Luo Ziling, Ouyang Feifei also went off to toast others.
But when they toasted with other guests, they only sipped. With Luo Ziling, however, they drank the whole glass.
The observant Luo Ziling astutely noticed this detail, which made him feel a hint of pride and excitement.
At that moment, Fang Dongxun, holding a wine glass, approached. He also had a bottle of white liquor in his hand.
“Mr. Luo, let’s drink this,” Fang Dongxun said with a hearty laugh as he took away the glass of red wine from Luo Ziling’s hand and asked a waiter for an empty glass, then filled both their glasses, “Here’s to our meeting, bottoms up.”
Luo Ziling spotted the label on the bottle in Fang Dongxun’s hand—a 53-degree Guizhou Maotai.
A full glass of it—although the glass was not very large, not like those terrifying red wine glasses, but at least three or four shots were unavoidable.
However, he didn’t care much and accepted the glass with a smile. After clinking glasses with Fang Dongxun, he said, “Thanks, Mr. Fang, I’ll drink first as a gesture of respect.”
With that, he raised his head and drained the cup.
Unsuspecting Luo Ziling to be so forthright, Fang Dongxun was taken aback for a moment, then burst into laughter. He too tilted his head back and finished his drink in one go.
He immediately poured another round for both of them, but the full bottle of Guizhou Moutai had already diminished and did not fill two cups; Fang Dongxun served Luo Ziling a full cup and only half for himself, then mockingly said, “There’s a shortage of liquor, but no matter, as long as we drink the same amount, it’s all good.”
Without waiting for Luo Ziling to reply, he downed his drink in one gulp.
Luo Ziling also tilted his head back and emptied his glass.
Having quickly consumed two cups of strong liquor changed Fang Dongxun’s complexion slightly.
But he recovered quickly, patted Luo Ziling on the shoulder with a laugh, and said, “Brother, you are truly bold and straightforward. However, I must warn you, don’t be too greedy in life, or you might end up with nothing. Haha, I’ve had too much to drink, just drunken blabber, just drunken blabber. I won’t disturb your flirting; I need to sit down, feeling dizzy.”
Having said that, he patted Luo Ziling heavily on the shoulder again and turned to leave.
When Fang Dongxun returned to his seat, he mumbled to his companion in a low voice, “This kid is a bit peculiar, remarkable tolerance for liquor, and formidable in action. When I patted him, his body didn’t flinch an inch; investigate his background thoroughly, as well as his relationship with Ling Haining.”
“Understood,” the person who had come with Fang Dongxun, who had been very low-key and hadn’t said a word the whole time, responded quietly and then immediately left the private room.
“Heh, today I met a true drinking master,” pointed out Fang Dongxun, gesturing toward Luo Ziling who had switched back to red wine, “two cups of strong white liquor, and he didn’t even bat an eyelid.”
“I’ll go toast to him,” Chen Jiahai stood up and likewise requested a bottle of high-degree Guizhou Moutai, taking two empty glasses, he headed towards Luo Ziling. His cousin, Chen Jiahu, also followed.
“Mr. Luo, we meet for the second time today, truly fate,” Chen Jiahai said, handing over a glass full of liquor to Luo Ziling with a very sunny smile, “It’s just that you dressed so modestly today that I didn’t recognize you right away, my bad. Please excuse me. Here’s a toast to you, I’ll drink first as a gesture of respect!”
With that, he raised his head and drank.
“Thanks,” Luo Ziling just smiled, took the glass and downed the contents in one swallow.
The liquor tasted really good, very mellow, leaving a pleasant aftertaste in the mouth, living up to its reputation as a renowned drink.
But Luo Ziling knew that the stronger the fragrance of the liquor, the greater the kick it would eventually have, so he was prepared.
Chen Jiahai continued to toast to Luo Ziling until the whole bottle of Moutai was finished, then left with a hearty laugh.
Chen Jiahu also shared a cup of white liquor with Luo Ziling.
Ouyang Feifei, who had been watching Fang Dongxun and Chen Jiahai come over to offer toasts with a detached air, seized the opportunity to come over and quietly warned, “They are trying to get you drunk, be careful.”
“Thanks for the heads up, I’ve noticed,” Luo Ziling replied with a smile, his expression slightly playful.
That smile, however, earned him a roll of the eyes from Ouyang Feifei.
