Compared to most top colleges, the students admitted to Frozen Sun are typically more homogenous in their affinities, almost all having ice related affinities, with water and wind affinities also being fairly common. Therefore, even when coordinating 9 contracts, the other side had a much easier time since none of these affinities are particularly incompatible.

Meanwhile most teams may have spiritual beasts with fire and water, light and dark, ice and fire, or other attribute pairings that would counteract one another's skills if not careful.

These "knives" were then suspended and whipped around without any pattern by a tempest summoned by 3 wind-attribute spiritual creatures.

The end result was a colossal cyclone of frozen water, swirling with brilliant blue and white light, ready to unleash a devastating storm upon their opponent. The shields summoned by Kairos did not persist for long before whiplike marks began to appear on their bodies from the ice-shards and they conceded the match.

Now it was finally time for the 5-on-5 match. Unfortunately, Kain and the others still knew that in terms of teamwork and the ability to complement one another in battle, they were grossly outmatched by the other party.

However, individually they felt that the other side's strongest may only rank within the ranks of 5-7 at Dark Moon—far from Kain, Serena, and even Soren.

Therefore, even though they lost the 3-on-3 match, they still were not disheartened, confident that the addition of Kain and Serena's contracts would result in a different outcome this time.

The atmosphere in the arena crackled with tension as the two teams took their positions for the 5-on-5 match.

On one side stood Kain and the others from Dark Moon: Ranya, with her three contracts adept at wielding illusions; Serena's Elemental Guardian and Starweaver; Kairos' cursed doll and book; and Soren, flanked by his twin dragons of wind and lightning attributes.

Including Kain's 3 contracts, there were 12 spiritual creatures on their side instead of the maximum of 15. However, it was not uncommon for the 5-on-5 battle or even the 3-on-3 battle to not have the maximum amount of contracts on the field at a given time.

Every contract is practically irreversible, therefore a lot of thought is put into each contract position. Therefore, if a suitable spiritual creature isn't found, or none are available that meet the beast-tamer's standards, its not uncommon to leave a contract position open for years in the event that they come across a spiritual creature that can satisfy them.

Which can partly explain why only 12 spiritual creatures were on the side of Dark Moon: Serena refuses to reveal her third contract even until now; cursed constructs are rare, and powerful ones even more so, which has delayed Kairos' third contract—after all, he can't just contract a cursed potato peeler because it's all that's available; and Soren did recently find a suitable third contract, but due to the rarity of dragon's the only one available that was suitable for his affinity is extremely young and only at red-grade, it also lacks a tacit understanding with Soren and was unsuitable for appearing at this stage of the competition.

And indeed, Serena's Elemental Guardian easily used its wind-attribute form to easily cause the ice shards to veer off course and explode harmlessly against the shimmering walls that sprang up around the arena due to the wards.

As a group of 5, they actually had a well-established strategy that surprisingly focused on Kain.

Kain had Bea summon the threads. However, unlike in her previous appearance, he did not bother trying to conceal them.

As the real threads slipped blended in seamlessly with the fake ones, Kain could see the opposing team hesitating about what to do next, after all they already knew from their limited intelligence of Bea that these threads were able to ignore most shields and defensive measures.

Additionally, Ranya's illusions also heightened the tension. The threads created by her contracts were even more flexible than Bea's, making it seem as though the threads were alive, writhing and dancing, and more difficult to dodge, enhancing the fear in their opponents' hearts.
