Faced with a huge numerical disadvantage, and 2 beast-tamers and 6 spiritual creatures that were meant to be a part of the Frozen Cascade skill now being out of commission, there wasn't much that the opponents could do to turn things around.

Therefore, Dark Moon finally managed to secure the victory against Frozen Sun without spending too much of their remaining energy.

After defeating Frozen Sun, Dark Moon currently was on a winning streak with 6 wins. Their only remaining opponent, First Celestial also had 6 wins. Therefore, the ultimate winner among the first-years will be decided by the match tomorrow.

However, even if they were to lose, Kain and the others have at least secured 2nd place, and 90 points—but of course, they still have no intention of taking it easy and will aim for first place.

With first and second place amongst the first-years still to be decided between Dark Moon and First Celestial, the approximate rankings have already been pretty much revealed:

With 6 wins each, both First Celestial Academy and Dark Moon College will take first and second places.

Frozen Sun College currently has 4 wins, and only has a fight against the weakest Nebula Taming Academy remaining, and so will likely secure 5 wins and finish in third place.

Supernova College and Starfire College both have 3 wins and 3 losses (against Dark Moon, First Celestial, and Frozen Sun), and they also happen to be facing one another in the finale. Therefore, fourth and fifth place will be determined between them.

Both Lunaris Vale Academy and Starlight College have only 1 win (against Nebula Taming) each, and will be competing tomorrow to determine the sixth and seventh places.

Finally, Nebula Taming Academy has not won a single match since the top 8 round-robin matches began, and will definitely finish in last place.

All of the Dark Moon first-years were in a great mood due to their winning streak; however, not all of the year levels from Dark Moon were equally happy.

The only year level that may be as jubilant was the fourth-years, although due to their more extensive experience, they buried their happiness more deeply knowing that they still had one match remaining and it was too soon to be happy.

However, like the first-years they also had not yet suffered any defeats. Moreover, unlike the first-years, they had already faced the strongest First Celestial and won. Therefore, their final ranking remaining at first place was even more secured.

Especially since their remaining opponent was outside of the top 5 colleges and they were confident in defeating them. Therefore the first rank placing for the fourth years was practically already determined in advance.

Meanwhile, the increased investment seen by Frozen Sun in their lower years, was also seen in their second years. Therefore, while the second-years managed to defeat powerful opponents like Supernova College and Starfire College, they had lost to both Frozen Sun and First Celestial and were currently only ranked third in their year. Since their next opponent was outside of the top 5, it seemed likely that they would finish with that ranking.

The third years were currently tied for second in their year, after losing only one match against First Celestial so far, and the tie breaking match was tomorrow against Supernova who also only had one loss in the third-year.

First Celestial had practically secured first place among the third years in advance. However, this was not a surprise to anyone. Unlike most colleges that had most of their strongest students in the fourth year. The third years at First Celestial were considered to be stronger than their seniors and called the school's "golden generation," similar to Kain and the others at Dark Moon.

Cassian Lysander, Soren's cousin, was the undisputed strongest of the school despite only being in his third year. Moreover, the second strongest vice captain also happened to be a third year as well—Isolde Blackheart, another descendant of one of the 5 founders.

Therefore, the estimated final rankings of Dark Moon's grade levels were:

First years—first or second place (100 or 90 points)

Second years—third place (80 points)

Third years—second place (80 or 90 points)

Fourth years—first place (100 points)

For a total of around 350 to 370 points depending on the outcome of the final battles the next day. If both the first years and third years secure victory against their matches against First Celestial and Supernova respectively, they would finish phase one of the competition with a very nice 370 points.

The attending professors were ecstatic. This was one of the best results they'd had at the national tournament in years, and it was pretty much guaranteed that they would increase their ranking this year. They may even be able to strive for first place and dethrone First Celestial depending on how they perform in the second phase!

First Celestial's current tentative rankings were:

First years—first or second place (100 or 90 points)

Second years—first place (100 points)

Third years—first place (100 points)

Fourth years—second place (80 or 90 points)

For a total of 370 to 390 points, depending on the final outcomes of the first-year and fourth-year matches. Currently, First Celestial's fourth-years were tied with Starfire's fourth-years for second place and will face them in a tie breaking match. If they lose both of their matches tomorrow, they may also only finish phase one with 370 points—tying with Dark Moon College.

Even if Kain and the others do manage to defeat First Celestial and secure first place for their year, they will not be able to finish phase one of the competition in first, and will at most tie with them.

However, the closer they are to First Celestial going into the second phase, the more likely it is that they could turn things over.

Therefore, despite knowing that their victory alone won't be able to overturn the current rankings, Kain and the others were still determined to win.
