Chapter 292The Vault's Secret [5]
Chapter 292The Vault's Secret [5]
Feeling a sharp pain throughout his entire body, Ren turned around, seeing an ocean-blue and blood-red wing hanging from his right shoulder.
Below him, Lily stared in amazement at the blue wing, wondering what Ren's escape plan would be.
Raising his hand, Ren confirmed the speed he would need to travel to reach Raven's tunnel before angling himself accordingly.
Slowing his perception of time, Ren took one last deep breath before recalling the corruption was blocking the gap.
As the corruption disappeared, Ren took a single peek through into the underground space, memorizing every last detail.
Then, with his perception of time still slowed, Ren immediately resummoned the physical corruption, blocking off the gap once again.
Pausing, Ren recalled the image he had taken with his eyes of the underground space.
It was... nothing.
The gap was small and facing the ceiling, so Ren couldn't even spot any people or any details that might help him locate them.
Returning his perception of time to normal, Ren took one last glance at Lily, who was waiting below with a curious expression.
Shaking his head, Ren manifested a shin layer of physical corruption before surrounding his entire body with it.
Putting back on his mask, Ren raised his wing before recalling the physical corruption blocking off the gap one last time.

Flapping his wing once, Ren disappeared from the vault, traveling at an unprecedented speed through the gap before reappearing mid-air in the underground space.
Angling himself downwards, Ren flapped his wing three times in succession, disappearing from the air and appearing on the ground around 27 meters away.
However, as he landed on the ground, Ren immediately noticed two figures, one in front and one in behind.
Behind him lay a figure who was simply standing still with a spear in their hand, and in front of Ren was a rapidly approaching figure with a katana.
Flapping his wing once, Ren appeared ten meters upward in the air before using his remaining mana to create a green bird.
Throwing the bird upwards into the air, Ren waited until it touched the ceiling before allowing it to pop.
Lily would tell the main cast and everyone else that Ren was the robber of the vault anyway, so it didn't matter if Ren used his skills.
Of course, there would be no evidence besides Lily's words, so there wouldn't be any massive consequences for Ren.
And the vault wasn't even robbed in the first place as nothing was even taken.
However, this set it in stone that the main cast would know Ren's part in the robbery as Liam would definitely be able to identify the robber as Ren from the green bird.
As the bird flashed, temporarily blinding everyone, Ren flew right over the figure with the katana, landing on a nearby wall.
Spotting his original tunnel hole, Ren glanced to the right, seeing a small head peeking out of another hole a couple of meters away.
However, before Ren could react, a familiar figure appeared at the entrance to the underground space.
Astrid, turning to look behind her at the entrance, screamed out.
"Reinforcements are arriving."
As Astrid's voice echoed through the cave, Ren flapped his wing once again, appearing right above the hole that Raven had created.
"Not so fast."
However, blocking Ren from the hole, a spear flew right at Ren; this time, no figure was riding atop the spear.
Having experienced the strength of the spear magical artifact firsthand, Ren didn't dare to try and deflect it.
Instead, he simply flapped his wing once again, taking detour away from the entrance to Raven's tunnel..
Back at the vault, Lily calmly exited the vault through the gap with her wand in hand.
As she exited, two figures suddenly dropped down from the ceiling, landing on Lily's right and left.
Staring at the curious Liam and scared Alya, Lily shrugged her shoulders and said.
"Some things can be solved peacefully."
Liam, completely ignoring the fight between Kazuki, Kaneki, and Ren, immediately questioned.
"Then why couldn't you have told us?"
Shaking her head, Lily easily responded.
"If you knew, it never would have happened."
If Liam knew that Lily was planning to have a secret and alone meeting with Ren in the vault, he would insist on coming.
However, if Liam came along with them, the entire meeting would be ruined.
Lily and Ren had talked about the book countless times and their lives on Earth, so no other being besides the two of them could have been in that vault for it to have happened.
Interrupting the two's conversation, Kevin walked forward, staring at Lily for a second, before turning away and saying.
"Lily's fine, so we can talk about this later, Liam."
Pointing at the floating figure with an ocean-blue and blood-red wing, Kevin continued.
"Let's catch the robber."
Appearing behind Lily, Ruby surprised Lily with a tap on the shoulder.
"So who is he, the robber, and what happened?"
Grabbing Ruby by the shoulder before Lily could respond, Irene appeared before saying.
"Didn't you hear? We'll talk about all that later; if you didn't know, we're actually in the middle of a fight right now."
Being dragged away by Irene, Ruby had no choice but to pull out her wand and follow Kevin, who was already running to help his brother in the fight.
Ren, trying his best to avoid eye contact with Raven's tunnel to prevent his two attackers from hiding out at his destination, floated in mid-air, waiting for the perfect moment.
"Everybody's here, oh wow!"

Interrupting Ren's train of thought, a sudden and unknown voice echoed throughout the underground space, drawing everyone's attention.
As Kazuki accusingly looked upward at Ren, he quickly shook his head and raised his head.
"Not me."
Looking for the source of the voice, Ren glanced upwards and examined the ceiling; however, there were no speakers visible.
Was there someone else in the cave with them?
Was it one of the reinforcements that Astrid had acllaed for?
"Different characters, travelers, and game changers...all in one space!"
