Chapter 52
Chapter 52
52 TOWERS OF BOOKS, PLAYING LEGO?
Of course, Bai Chen still remembered how Ma Qiao told him that the Emperor had purposely kept all the books from Guangcai Hall in his Wenxue Pavilion during the renovation of the Hall. However, he didn’t expect that they would fill the room until he couldn’t see the true appearance of the room.
The books were not only stored on the shelves, but they were also scattered on the table, chairs, and even on the floor. It looked like a storehouse to Bai Chen’s eyes, and if he was still in his previous life, he would just sell all the books so that he would earn some money and be able to get rid of the sight that hurt his eyes.
“Why are there so many books in this pavilion?” Zhu Ge asked a question as he carried his long legs to enter the pavilion.
Bai Chen could see how the man almost fell because he accidentally tripped over a pile of books, and he almost burst out laughing at the ridiculous sight. Seriously, there were too many books, and some of the piles of books almost reached the ceiling.
There seemed to be several miniature towers within the pavilion, and Bai Chen couldn’t imagine if those ‘towers’ ended up stumbling over and burying his head mercilessly. He wouldn’t die, but that would be painful for sure.
‘The people who organized the books in this pavilion probably think they were playing LEGO or something,’ Bai Chen stupidly thought as he continued to stare at the books with his blue eyes.
There were so many books, and he didn’t even know where to start to find the books that could provide him with information. Bai Lang didn’t tell him the book’s title, and even if the little wolf did tell him about it, he would still need some effort to find the book because he couldn’t simply enter the book’s title into the computer to make his search easier.
In the end, he couldn’t help but sigh as he began to carry his feet to enter the pavilion following what Zhu Ge had done earlier. Dust boldly entered his nostrils, causing him to sneeze before his lips let out a few coughs as well. He didn’t even know why the pavilion could be so dusty when so many palace maids lived in his palace.
‘Don’t the maids clean this place often?’ He wondered again as he compared the situation inside the pavilion to other pavilions.
.....
Bai Chen hated dirty places, and even his nostrils and throat couldn’t adapt to unclean places either. Seeing the conditions within the Wenxue Pavilion, he would have left the place if he had no goal to reach.
“You can’t even use a chair to sit here, Your Highness.”
This time, Zhu Ge addressed him politely, and when Bai Chen looked at the man again, he could see how the man was covering his nose and mouth with his palm.
The man in red was clearly irritated by the dust, but he still walked over to the windows and opened them to let the sunlight through, and the dust was finally able to fly with the wind to leave the room.
And once the windows were opened, the two of them could get a better idea of ??what a messy room it was.
The pavilion was indeed very disorganized, and Bai Chen decided to take a look at Zhu Ge instead of looking at the countless books in the room. The black-haired man looked quite funny because, for the first time, he looked a bit frail and silly, and Bai Chen subconsciously smiled before he walked toward the man.
Standing right in front of the man in the middle of the towers made of books, he raised his hand and used his wide sleeve to cover the taller man’s nose and mouth. “You wait here. I’m going to the Jing Pavilion to get some clothes to cover our noses and mouths,” he said as he kept his sleeve in front of Zhu Ge’s nose and mouth.
Even before Bai Chen said those words, Zhu Ge was already stunned by Bai Chen’s actions, and now he couldn’t do anything as he continued to stare at the shorter man. Of course, he was surprised by how Bai Chen had suddenly ‘protected’ his precious nose and mouth from dust.
Brown eyes met a pair of blue eyes, and the two of them only realized that they were standing very close to each other due to the limited space within the Wenxue Pavilion.
Bai Chen realized that what he was doing was a bit inappropriate, so he withdrew his hand and took out his fan before using it to replace his sleeve to cover the taller man’s nose and mouth.
The pair of azure eyes were no longer on him, but Zhu Ge was still smiling when he realized that the shorter man was only showing his affectionate side in front of him.
Grabbing the fan before pushing it so that it covered Bai Chen’s nose and mouth, Zhu Ge replied, “I’m the servant here, so I should be the one to serve you, Your Highness. I’m going to the Jing Pavilion to get some clothes for us, so better you wait for me here.”
Zhu Ge rarely used ‘Your Highness’ to address him, but when he finally used it, Bai Chen felt something strange in his chest when he heard it. It felt like something was tickling his chest, so he felt slightly funny inside his chest. Regardless, he had no idea what it was, nor could he describe it in a word.
And before he could find an answer to his curiosity, Zhu Ge had already left him alone in the pavilion. The fan was still in his hand, but he didn’t use it to cover his nose and mouth anymore.
He took a deep breath, but then he sneezed again as the dust entered his nostrils once again. “This is so stupid,” he muttered to himself as he shook his head to wipe the unnecessary things off his head. He then brought his blue eyes to gaze at the towers of books within the pavilion. “I want to find out more information about Bai Chen’s family in this world, but I don’t even know how to find the books that contain that information.”
He did want to know more about the real Bai Chen in this world, but when he didn’t know where to find the books he needed, he suddenly felt extremely pessimistic.
The lazy Bai Chen from his previous life returned, and the current Bai Chen suddenly dropped his butt on the pile of not-so-tall books. Placing his elbows on his knees before propping his chin on his palms, he wanted to give up now and here.
However, just as he was about to give up, the pavilion door opened once again, revealing a figure with black hair that was quite familiar to him.
It was Zhu Ge who had just entered the pavilion, and he carefully closed the door again before walking towards the Prince. “What are you doing there?” He asked as he continued walking.
Instead of answering the question, Bai Chen just pouted as he shifted his gaze from the man to the towers of books again.
Zhu Ge didn’t get an answer even after he stopped walking in front of the brown-haired man, and he frowned as he looked at the man. He looked like he was trying to read Bai Chen’s mind, and he raised his eyebrows when he could guess what was bothering the Prince.
Zhu Ge managed to guess it, but instead of saying something to the Prince, he suddenly leaned forward before placing a piece of cloth in front of Bai Chen’s nose and mouth and tying the two ends of the cloth behind Bai Chen’s head.
The owner of the head was dumbfounded when he realized what Zhu Ge was doing, and instead of smelling the dust emanating from the books, he could now smell the wet leaves as his face was slightly pressed against Zhu Ge’s chest.
Zhu Ge still smelled like wet leaves, and it somehow managed to calm his mind as he continued to inhale the scent. Unfortunately, the soothing scent didn’t last long as the man in red suddenly straightened himself once again.
When Zhu Ge once again stood straight in front of him, he just realized that a piece of cloth had covered his nose and mouth, blocking the dust from entering his nostrils and mouth.
The next thing he saw was how Zhu Ge used another piece of cloth to cover his own nose and mouth, and he also tied the ends of the cloth behind his own head. The man in red raised his hand so he could tie the clothes on the back of his head, and what he was doing affected his chest which was exposed as the muscles in the chest contracted automatically.
For some reason, Bai Chen thought that Zhu Ge looked very sexy.
