Chapter 2568 Useful Skills And Withered Spirit Daoist's Affiliations
A couple more weeks went by as Lin Mu finally finished sorting through all the Qi skills that the Withered Spirit Daoist had.
Out of the seven hundred, about six hundred and eighty were at the Immortal Realm or below, while the remaining were at the Celestial level!
This was absolutely invaluable, as information about Celestial-level skills could be sold for entire worlds in the Immortal Realm. To most people, this would be something they could only dream of obtaining, but to Lin Mu, he actually had it in his grasp.
The only problem, though, was whether he could use it.
"These are simply useless..." Lin Mu smiled wryly. "They can only be used by those who have comprehended the Withering Dao."
It was like getting a prized sword but being unable to use it because one was an archer!
But it did teach Lin Mu something important.
'Looks like when one becomes Celestial, they let go of most of their skills and instead focus on condensing them down into something stronger,' Lin Mu thought to himself.
The skills that the Withered Spirit Daoist had were actually quite varied up to the Immortal level, but all those above that were dedicated to the Withering Dao.
As such, Lin Mu could only stick to the ones that were at the Immortal level.
'Hmm... most of these are obsolete for me as I have superior options available,' Lin Mu thought. He already had his spatial skills, as well as other superior techniques like the Mountain Collapsing Fist and the Cloud Dragon Stride now.
The only useful skills he could find in the woman's repertoire were the Sword Skills from Yao Changying's memories and three Qi skills that Lin Mu could use with both his fists and his bow.
The first was a skill called Cluster Qi Control, a highly refined method of controlling Qi to manipulate objects.
One could control immortal tools by branding them and using Immortal sense, but Cluster Qi Control allowed one to attach their Qi to other objects—whether completely normal or immortal tools—and control them.
'Isn't this basically a type of telekinetic skill?' Lin Mu understood. 'This seems highly compatible with Bending Will Fists and other wind control techniques.'
The problem with Cluster Qi Control was that it wasn't an efficient skill. It consumed proportionally high amounts of Qi compared to the effect shown.
For example, moving a small stone by one meter would take three times or more Qi than using an Immortal weapon.
'It's still very good.' Lin Mu thought this skill was perfect.
He never had a lack of Qi in the first place, and most of his strong skills were basically Qi sinks. As such, he was used to heavy consumption.
The second skill Lin Mu found useful was called Flames of Desiccation.
It was a Fire elemental skill that incorporated aspects of decay. It allowed one to create flames that could desiccate and dry out objects. This was originally an alchemical skill used for refining herbs without burning them, but in combat, its effects could be deadly.
One could only imagine what would happen when someone's limbs started to dry out and shrink while they were still alive. The pain would be unimaginable.
Lin Mu already had an affinity with the fire element, so learning this skill wouldn't be too hard for him.
'I should be able to use this with both my fists and with Wonder Seeker to shoot Desiccation Flame arrows,' Lin Mu thought.
The third and final skill Lin Mu found useful was Lung Shredding Smog Breath.
It was a Poison skill that could be used both offensively and defensively. One could breathe out the smog at enemies to damage them directly or spread it in an area to prevent anyone from approaching.
The method of learning it was rather dangerous, though, as it involved breathing in the toxic smoke produced by burning various fuels used for Alchemy.
Normally, this was one of the occupational dangers of practicing alchemy—alchemists would end up absorbing these toxins anyway. It was best to avoid breathing them in, but this technique made use of that flaw and turned it into an active skill.
Instead of letting the toxins spread out within one's body, they could keep them condensed within pockets of flesh in their lungs. Of course, this required precise control; otherwise, one would harm themselves instead.
But Lin Mu took interest in it for another reason.
'I can skip the requirement to cultivate this skill using the Longgui Bulwark Armor Technique,' Lin Mu thought about the toxic smoke naturally released from volcanoes.
Many alchemists used lava as a fuel, thus fulfilling the requirement. Since Lin Mu could create lava as needed, he didn't need to intentionally breathe in toxic smoke. He could simply produce fresh magma and let it release the required smoke.
"I should be able to incorporate this into Magma Fury," Lin Mu reckoned.
With the skills and techniques sorted out, Lin Mu moved on to the miscellaneous parts of the Withered Spirit Daoist's memories.
There was information about different locations of the universe, including both the Celestial and Immortal Realms.
This was something Lin Mu lacked, so he took deep interest in it. While learning, he also discovered the Celestial Court, an organization that ruled the Celestial Realm.
It was essentially the higher counterpart of the Immortal Court and held great authority.
Lin Mu also learned about various organizations in the Celestial Realm, including the one the Withered Spirit Daoist had been part of.
"The Right Arm of the Skull God Commandery?" Lin Mu muttered in surprise. "This certainly doesn't sound like anything good," he reckoned.
He could at least understand that it was likely a subsidiary organization under something or someone called the Skull God.
Lin Mu knew for sure this might be important so looked for more memories related to it. A while later he found something that shocked him.
"How can this be... The Great Domain Violator, he's a part of this too?"
