Chapter 2572 The 'Forceful' Saintess
Six months might have been long for a normal person, but when one thought about the fact that Lin Mu had absorbed memories worth of two million years in this time, it felt rather insignificant.
The trade off was certainly worth it, as Lin Mu had obtained valuable information that could be considered priceless in many ways.
As such, the first thing he did after waking up was to contact his companions.
~SHUA~
But upon checking the Communication Jade Slip, Lin Mu realized that he had no less than a hundred messages waiting for him. They were from almost all of his companions as well as a few other individuals he had little interaction with.
"I guess they got worried I was not answering for all this time." Lin Mu thought to himself. "They even sent someone to check up on me." He saw a message from the Crown Prince that informed him that they would be entering his abode to check on him.
Though the message after that was an apology that also included the fact that they had been blocked from entering the courtyard due to a barrier.
'Ah, the Saintess dealt with them.' It didn't take much for Lin Mu to figure out who was behind it. 'I suppose I owe them a long explanation.' Lin Mu reckoned.
With that done, he quickly sent out replies to the most important messages and took note of the others. There had been a few surprising messages among them, including some acquaintance he had not seen for years now.
"Shu Shaoxing?" Lin Mu recalled the man who wished to become the Greatest Grass Cultivator in the world. "He's here in the Capital city, huh… he wishes to see me before he leaves the world." While he had certainly shared his contact with the man, he had never expected to see him here.
Lin Mu had met the man in Huiqing Empire and the man had certainly been a help to him.
'I suppose there's no harm in meeting him.' Lin Mu thought to himself.
Checking the timing of the message, it had actually not been that long.
"Just a week ago. He should still be in the city then… though how did he know I was here too?" he couldn't help but wonder.
Whatever it might be, Lin Mu reckoned he'll know once he met the man later. For now, he had more urgent matters to deal with.
The next thing he did was to transcribe all the critical information he had learned about Yao Changing and her deals with the Green leaf Merchant association. Having done that, he sent it off to Crown Prince Feng Shun including some context about it.
Of course while he couldn't tell them that he had gotten it from her memories, he had a valid excuse for it. Lin Mu still had the corpse of Yao Changying with her, so he simply told her that he obtained it form some of the documents she had on her person.
As for why it had taken him six months to report this, there was no way they would question him about it. To them, he was simply tired and needed rest.
Lin Mu had already done more than enough, thus there was nothing they could demand of him.
Even his report right now was him going above and beyond of what was needed for him.
The report that Lin Mu had sent was very long, thus he didn't expect to receive a response right away. He still had other things to do, thus he got up from the bed and headed out.
Opening the door of the bedroom, Lin Mu got a view of the beautiful garden outside.
Enhancing the beauty of the garden was a red haired woman lounging on a chair made out of solidified clouds.
"Who… wait, the Saintess?" This was Lin Mu's first time seeing her hair thus he couldn't help but be surprised.
Usually she had her face covered with a veil and her hair was also hidden under the long robe she wore as a hood.
Now that he was seeing her flaming red hair, Lin Mu couldn't help but feel a bit mesmerized.
As he continued to watch, the Saintess got up from the lounger and looked at him with intrigue.
"Took you long enough. I thought we'd be talking right away once you got back here." The Saintess spoke with a hint of wrongness in her voice.
"I'm… Sorry." Lin Mu apologized. "I got caught up in stuff." He added.
"You and your sleep." The Saintess let out a light sigh. "Though I suppose after all that you've gone through, this much was expected. Is the Well of Slumber, still affecting you?" she asked with concern.
"It isn't." Lin Mu shook his head, realizing that she had mistaken his words.
But he didn't think it was necessary to correct her, so he let the misunderstanding stand.
"Hmm… Your body seems fine now," she noted, her gaze softening.
"Yours seems well too." Lin Mu unconsciously muttered, his eyes lingeringover her hair.
The Saintess raised an eyebrow, a faint smile tugging at her lips. "So he can show interest…" she mused inwardly, feeling unexpectedly pleased. With a wave of her hand, Lin Mu found himself pulled forward by an invisible force.
"Huh?!" Lin Mu was taken aback by it and was shocked by the sudden action. 'Did I do something wrong? Is she angry?' he wonders.
~THUD~
He landed firmly against a chair that formed around his body and forced him to sit.
"We have some things to talk about," The Saintess said, her voice making Lin Mu feel a lot more nervous than before.
He looked into the Saintess's veiled eyes, and couldn't make out what she was thinking. Unbeknownst to him, countless others would have given anything for such an audience. Yet here he was, entirely oblivious to the significance of the moment. The two individuals stared into each other's eyes, as a silence thick with anxiety filled the air.
