Chapter 2600 Finding His Daughter

"Your daughter?" Lin Mu looked at the Flood Dragon with interest.

"I too had a family once... an entire clan," Qiulong Jiao answered.

"A Clan of Flood Dragons..." Lin Mu muttered, recalling something about the beast clans.

Since beasts gained intelligence on par with humans, it was not uncommon for them to form clans and families much like humans did. Even normal animals did this, such as deer and other ungulates living in herds, monkeys living in troops, or lions living in prides.

They banded together for protection and to stabilize their means of sustenance, like hunting in groups or grazing collectively. These behaviors formed the most primitive tribes or clans, and these instincts often persisted even as animals evolved into beasts or Immortal Beasts.

For higher-intelligence beasts, such as the Dragon clans, these instincts were even more pronounced. They established their own hierarchies, names, rules, and traditions.

For example, the Blue Drake, Ao De Zuzu, bore the surnames of both his parents since they belonged to different clans. If his parents had been from the same clan, his surname would not have changed, as was the case with his mother, De Wanan, and grandmother, De Lanbiu. This naming convention symbolized the preservation of legacies and the continuation of bloodlines.

"I didn't just have Flood Dragons in my clan. There were others, such as Sea Drakes and Blue Drakes too," Qiulong Jiao revealed.

While Sea Drakes and Blue Drakes were both aquatic and water-elemental dragonic beasts, their physiologies differed. For instance, the scales of a Blue Drake were cerulean, while those of a Sea Drake were deep blue. Other subtle differences in their builds and powers further distinguished them.

"Oh, so it was a comprehensive clan," Lin Mu remarked, understanding that such diversity might stem from the different ways they developed their bloodlines.

"Indeed. My own daughter wasn't a Flood Dragon either. She was a Sea Drake, like her mother," Qiulong Jiao stated.

"I see... so she left this world?" Lin Mu asked, his tone softening.

"She should have," Qiulong Jiao said with a wistful expression. "She was always more talented than I and had the best potential in my clan. She was also the most ambitious, constantly challenging others to fights. She even fought one of the former princes of the Huiqing Empire and defeated him." The old man's eyes gleamed with pride as he reminisced.

Lin Mu could tell that the man was deeply proud of his daughter.

"With her talent, she should have managed to break through the bloodline shackles and become a Dragon already," Qiulong Jiao continued with a faint smile. "She once told me that when she achieved that milestone, she would leave this world to explore others and find ways to grow even stronger,"

"Wait," Lin Mu interjected, a thought flashing through his mind. He quickly retrieved a jade slip and scanned its contents for relevant information.

"What is it?" the old man asked curiously.

"I think you might be right," Lin Mu said, his tone excited. "If these records are accurate, then... this might be her." He handed the jade slip to the old man.

Qiulong Jiao read through the records, his eyes widening with emotion.

"She truly did it... She became a Great Ocean Dragon and left the Rust Sky World," Qiulong Jiao muttered, his voice trembling slightly.

The old man fell silent, deep in thought, and Lin Mu gave him the space he needed. It was evident that the news stirred something profound within him.

"Looks like I shall be following in my daughter's footsteps," Qiulong Jiao finally said, determination shining in his eyes.

"You're going after her?" Lin Mu asked.

"She's the only blood kin I have left, and it has been far too long since I saw her. I wish to lay my eyes upon her face once more," Qiulong Jiao declared. "I shall leave this world and search for her."

"Hmm... I suppose that's a noble mission to embark on," Lin Mu said, nodding in approval.

"A-Ancestor, may I speak?" the Blue Drake suddenly interjected.

"What is it?" Qiulong Jiao asked, turning his attention to the drake, who had finally regained his composure.

"Would it be possible for me to accompany you on your journey?" Ao De Zuzu requested.

"Follow me? You wish to join me?" Qiulong Jiao asked, raising a brow.

"Indeed. As you said, she is your last bloodline, and my grandmother played with your clan's children too. I can consider her my great-aunt. Since I have no blood kin left either, I wish to stay by your side and learn," Ao De Zuzu explained.

"Hmm..." Qiulong Jiao pondered for a moment before nodding. "Very well. You have decent strength, so you shouldn't be a burden."

"Thank you, Ancestor!" the Blue Drake said, bowing deeply.

"However, are you willing to leave everything you've built here behind?" Qiulong Jiao questioned.

"It is nothing I cannot rebuild later," the Blue Drake replied decisively.

"Good. Then you may come with me," Qiulong Jiao agreed. "We'll depart in a few days once I've prepared for the journey. There are still some essentials I need to acquire to blend in with humans."

He turned to Lin Mu and asked, "Would you be able to help me gather supplies and items for the journey?"

"That shouldn't be a problem. I'll speak with the servants in my courtyard; they'll arrange everything. Though perhaps the first thing you'll need is a spatial storage treasure," Lin Mu suggested. He had not sensed one on the old man and deemed it a crucial starting point.

"Ah yes, I've long wished to get one of those. I had several in the past, but they weren't exactly suited for my size. Now that I'm in human form, they should work perfectly," Qiulong Jiao said with a hint of excitement.

With preparations underway, the stage was set for Qiulong Jiao's departure from the Rust. Sky World. Lin Mu couldn't help but feel a twinge of admiration for the Flood Dragon's determination and the bonds of family that transcended realms. It reminded him of his own journey and the importance of forging connections, both new and old.
