Chapter 265

Chapter 265: The Shameless System

In the centre was the large square formation where the players were gathered. In the east, west, and south, there were three small pockets of space that separated the bandit bosses, each containing two bosses. Their algorithm directed them towards where Drako Yau intercepted the lone player, but that worked in Chau Yu’s favour; with well-timed commands, he sealed them off in the small pockets and rendered them immobile as there was no way out.

Yim Ho gasped for air on the ground. Still, he gave Greenstone a thumbs up—Greenstone granted him immunity against Godmage’s Shadow Tentacles with Brute Force and stayed as the rearguard to buy time for him to escape. The attack with White Jade Palm bought Yim Ho the few precious seconds he desperately needed.

Yim Ho and Bloodless Bladester had excited looks. Who would’ve thought that the boulder formation could bring them a sliver of hope? They even downed three enemies in one go!

Chau Yu, however, wasn’t as optimistic. “Don’t be careless, they also have clerics. They’ll soon heal up.”josei

“What’s next then?” asked Bloodless Bladester.

Everyone’s gazes focused on Chau Yu. After showing great results with the boulder formation, they all acknowledged his strength—not physically, but mentally. And that was what they needed the most now.

Chau Yu waved his fan slowly. “Kill all the bosses first. After the cooldown for Meteor Fist is over, Yim Ho will rush in for another barrage. Bloodless Bladester and Mask will pick off the heavily injured enemies. Try to kill the cleric if possible. Rest up now, there’s still work to do.”

Yim Ho stood up along with the others. The boulders vibrated as they did.

“What’s going on?”

“What happened?” the girl asked in shock. She noticed that her emotionless mind was facing an unprecedented challenge by the various incidents lately.

Her male counterpart thought for a moment before coming to a realisation. “It’s the Dominator!”

“What?”

“There are many limits to how the boulders can be placed. The most simple of them all is that they cannot completely seal off the mysterious lady’s house. That’s the rule on the surface, but what was its intention? The boulders cannot completely block off the attackers’ route to the mysterious lady.”

The girl finally understood as she said, “Chau Yu’s initial formation was windy, but the players could reach the mysterious lady even though it took them longer. As long as they went down the maze, they’d eventually come across her house, but things changed when Chau Yu’s living maze changed. It violated the rule after the boulders were pushed to seal the attackers in!”

The young man’s eyes were fixed on the battle through his visors. “Yes! Even the Dominator didn’t notice in time and gave Yim Ho the time to launch his attack. Honestly, if Chau Yu’s formation isn’t against the rules, they can likely survive this wave. Separate and annihilate, his formation truly works wonders.

“But from the looks of it, everything’s about to change now”

“This shameless system!” Chau Yu cursed.

The moment he saw the boulder flickering as if it was soon disappearing, countless possibilities flashed through his mind before he quickly realised what was going on. Even a tactician who was supposed to stay calm at all times couldn’t help but curse.

The quest is impossible to clear already! The system’s not even going to give us a tiny chance?

Chau Yu was right. To the system—or the Dominator, the mysterious lady was a virus, and the Dominator had no reason to allow a virus to live. He’d exterminate her with a command if he could, but since he couldn’t, he created this impossible quest as a guise to get players to do the work.

“Quick! Push a random boulder and let those people out! Now!”

Unsure why Chau Yu gave such an order, Yim Ho asked, “Why… We trapped them with so much effort…”

A cloud of blood dashed past Yim Ho—it was Drako Yau. Having activated Frost Form, he quickly deduced the system’s rule after Chau Yu gave the order. They could fight only the enemy players by letting them out now. If they allowed the system to do its work, the six Level 40 bosses would join the fray as well, further lowering their chances.

Drako Yau pushed with both hands, and boom! He was thrown backwards by a massive force, but Bloodless Bladester caught him right away. The boulder was already disintegrating into shards of data, vanishing and returning to the system.

Once the boulder was completely gone, the six attacking players found five players standing several dozens of metres away from them.

Tigeroar could hardly believe that nine top-tier players and the six strongest bosses in the game were made fools by five people. Soon, he noticed two players among the five.

Tigeroar was as wary of Chau Yu as he was of Mask. Chau Yu’s strength lay in his tactics and ability to view the overall picture. Back when he initiated a City War on Yoda, his reputation would’ve been through the roof if not for Mask’s timely return. Empyreal Alliance could probably have grown powerful enough to threaten Roaring World with that victory.

But there were no ifs. Even though Chau Yu lost in the end, it reflected his ambition and intellect, and that was enough for Tigeroar to be aware of him.

Tigeroar’s sights then landed on the man next to Chau Yu. His disbelief was dispersed the moment he saw the masked man—Mask.

Mask was a legendary player who united Yoda, which had been a city full of mess. Considering Mask’s feats, Tigeroar was no longer surprised at whatever Mask could do, not to mention that Mask had spared his life.

Tigeroar could still feel the pain from Mask’s palm strike on his back in his mind. Killing intent leaked through his eyes.

This time, I will kill you without fail!

Chau Yu let out a long sigh. No matter how fancy his tactics were, no matter how well-planned his strategy was, everything was futile against the system’s brutality. The six bosses had to be on their way already.

Is this the end…

Suddenly, a person stepped forwards and shielded the other four. He wasn’t brawny nor muscular, but his figure just had a sense of security to it. His crimson cloak fluttered in the wind and rose over his head like a ghastly phantom.

Drako Yau stomped the end of his spear into the ground and proclaimed emotionlessly, “Come at me, all of you.”
