Chapter 1055 Secret Compartment

Kisa paused as she furrowed her brows confusedly.

She knew that she had heard it right. Indeed, there was a clicking sound in the room.

However, her phone was still ringing.

Kisa hastily crawled over and switched off her phone without even looking at the caller’s phone number.

On Gilbert’s side.

He listened to his phone silently. “I’m sorry, but the number you have dialed is currently busy.”

He lifted the edge of his mouth and threw his phone to the side before shutting his eyes.

He deserved it anyway. He should have never called her when he already knew that she betrayed him, and he still hated her for it!

He should have seen it coming!

Kisa crawled down to the end of the bed and lifted the blanket before looking at the bedpost.

Then, she saw something like a button between that bedpost and the floor.

It looked like it was pressed down. Perhaps she accidentally did that just now.

She touched the button and started to feel suspicious.

‘This doesn’t look like it belongs here at all.’

Then, she checked the other bedposts and found that only that one particular bedpost had a button.

‘Could it be a switch connected to some kind of secret compartment?’

After all, she was very certain that she heard a soft clicking sound.

She looked around as she thought, trying to find out if there was anything different about the room.

However, the room looked the same, and all the decorations were still in the same place as they used to be.

The counter and nightstand did not move at all, either.

Then, Kisa went to look in the washroom but found nothing strange either. She went back to the bedpost and tried to press the button again.

The button popped back up, and the same clicking sound could be heard again.

Kisa tensed up as she looked at the floor automatically.

She could hear the clicking sound coming from the floor. However, she was not certain which part of the floor it came from specifically.

She dragged the coffee table and the counter to the side. Then, she walked to the door and rolled up the thick and heavy carpet.

The light gray wooden floor appeared as the carpet was being rolled up.

However, she saw nothing strange about the wooden floor or anything like a secret compartment under there.

She brought her brows together. ‘Did I hear that wrong?’

She went back to the bedpost again and pressed the button once more.

This time, she heard the clicking sound again, and a squared area on the wooden floor was opened. Then, she saw something like a secret compartment in front of her.

Kisa was surprised, and her eyes were wide open.

She finally realized why she could not notice anything odd about the room after pressing the button repeatedly because it was hidden under the blanket.

She would not hear the clicking sound and found this secret compartment if she did not come to the room at midnight when the whole house was silent.

She walked toward the secret compartment without dawdling.

The secret compartment was very shallow, and it was just as deep as a wooden plank.

However, it was very wide, and there were plenty of things in there.

Kisa was so excited that her heart tightened.

There was no dust inside because it had always been covered by the carpet.

Kisa saw a lot of envelopes, small notebooks, and some old photos inside.

She grabbed the photos.

The photos were very old, but the faces on them could be seen very clearly because

Kisa could see a picture of her mother and David right away.

Then, she noticed a few other photos of them together. They smiled very happily,

and they looked very intimate with each other.

David also wore her mother’s steel bangle on his wrist in the photos.

Kisa quickly went through all the photos.
