Chapter 1306 Waking on the Wrong Side of the Bed

Gilbert smiled while he said those words, but Kisa and Kelvin were scared.

“Go on then!” Gilbert looked at the two expressionlessly and chuckled, “Why aren’t you guys talking?” Though his face was seemingly calm, his eyes showed anger. It would be foolish of them if they continued to speak ill of him.

Kisa lowered her head, her face buried into the collar of her shirt, while Kelvin drank out of the glass continuously. After a long time, the glass was empty. Gilbert pursed his lips coldly. He leaned close to the two and said, “Don’t talk sh*t about others behind their backs if you guys don’t have the guts to say it to their faces.”

Kisa’s entire body became stiff, and she did not dare to make a sound when the man’s words fell into her ears.

‘Who knew you would be back all of a sudden?!’ she thought as the sound of footsteps gradually receded and the door slammed shut.

The oppressive and cold air in the room disappeared in an instant. Kisa took a deep breath and glanced at Kelvin as she said, “Why didn’t you tell me he was back? I can’t believe you let me say all those things while he was here!”

Kelvin was speechless. “It’s not my fault. I almost went blind from all the blinking, but you didn’t even get the signal.”

“That was so scary. I really shouldn’t be speaking ill of him anymore. He’s always there when I do!” Kisa shook her head and said.

“OHHHHH. Now I know why he’s angry every day. It must be because you keep saying bad things about him behind his back, and he catches you doing it!”

“N-No… That’s not it,” Kisa replied, feeling a little guilty.

“That must be it! He was never this bad-tempered before,” Kelvin snorted.

Kisa was noncommittal. “He has always been this angry since he was a child. It’s like he wakes up on the wrong side of the bed every morning.”

Kelvin wanted to continue arguing with her, but Gilbert was not the main concern for Kisa right now. Instead, she redirected the conversation back to the beginning. “So, did you have a look at Ms. Mullen’s legs today? Is there anything you can do about it?”

“Yeah. I’ve taken a look, and there is something I could do.”

Kisa’s eyes lit up upon hearing that. “Really?” she asked.

Kelvin stared at her with a frown and said, “Why do you care about Ms. Mullen so much? I mean, she is from the Mullen family. And the Mullens have always been at odds with the Kooper family. When did you become best friends with Ms. Mullen?”

“I… We’re not best friends… I just took pity on her and thought that she could use a miracle.”

“Tsk.” Kelvin shook his head in an instant and said, “I know another reason why Gilbert is angry all the time now. It’s because you treat others so well, yet you don’t give a damn about him. Turns out he’s right. Everyone is important to you, but not him.”

Kisa was stunned. “Huh…? What are you talking about? What does this have to do with who’s important and who’s not???”

“He’s the one who said it, not me. He told me you don’t care about him like you do others,” Kelvin said.

Kisa laughed, “When did I not care about him? Why does he even think that’s true? Besides, why should I care about him? All he does is lie to me and hurt me. Speaking of which, you conspired with him to lie to me! You’re a quack doctor with no medical ethics!” She glared at Kelvin angrily as she thought of her pregnancy.

Kelvin began to choke. ‘F*ck! I should have just kept my mouth shut.’

“You can’t blame me for that. Gilbert was the one who told me to lie to you. You know how I’ve always been afraid of him; I was pressured to lie.”

“Then… Do you know why he lied?”
