Chapter 1803: The Reason of Existence

In those days, Khadgar, Turalyon and the others led the Alliance into Draenor. As a result of other races wanting to protect their own homes, they also sent in their people to this land that was destroyed as far as the eye could see.

They built two fortresses in Hellfire. As for why they built two and not one, there was only one reason – the Alliance and the Horde would never be able to completely trust one another.

For the sake of protecting Azeroth from the Legion, they fought day and night for multiple days around the Hellfire Peninsula.

They needed to battle against seemingly never-ending waves of Scourge soldiers. A single team of people were definitely not enough. They needed multiple squads to rotate and defend.

In the beginning, one squad only needed to fight for one day. As their strength slowly dwindled over time, they could only rotate after a few days of fighting. However, rotating after seven days of fighting was quite unusual.

Even though they were new troops, they were still wearing old and broken armour. They were quite surprised upon seeing strangers here.

“They are all reliable and warriors worthy of respect,” Lieutenant General Orion said to the Frontline Commander Sethria.

Lieutenant General Orion didn’t participate in the defence. He was the highest ranked officer here and had been posted here for a few years. He would participate in battle occasionally, and when he was tired, he would sleep in the old and wasted chariots.

Sethria was an Undead Priest.

It was unknown whether or not she was beautiful when she was still living. However, she was currently the complete opposite of beautiful.

“Looks like the seal on the Dark Portal is nearly broken,” Sethria said. “I received news that there would be a large group of adventurers arriving as reinforcements through the Dark Portal.”

“You are correct. These are the adventurers who have come here early to support us. There are also these chariots, which were given by them to us,” Orion explained, then continued to say, “Sethria, I know that you do not value life, but please value these lives.”

“Life!” Sethria cackled and hissed, “I have cursed all living beings. However, I hate the cursed Legion that didn’t allow us a chance to live, and the main culprit behind all of this even more.”

With the authority of the highest ranked officer, Lu Li and the others were not sent as fodder for the enemy troops to kill.

They continued to go and hunt down one of the Pit Commanders. Sethria was happy upon seeing this. The Pit Commander that was being attacked by Lu Li’s team wanted to summon Hellfire upon the camps, but it was now unable to.

“Damn it! This is a little over the top now, isn’t it?”

Drifting Rain furiously threw the equipment on the ground. The looter had only managed to pick up a Gold item.

It didn’t matter whether Lu Li said the item was good or bad. He just couldn’t stand his people being humiliated in front of his boss.

“I don’t want this either. I think that my hand is not bad, and the items have been alright. Look at what the others have picked up from the small monsters.”

The looter felt wronged; he even wanted to suggest that Lu Li try his hand.

“Stop fighting. Pick up the item. Get ready to receive the next wave of monsters.”

Lu Li looked at his own level and thought that there was still hope to level up to level 61 today.

Ruling Sword’s Little Red Hand was arriving soon. Hachi Chan was bringing along Remnant Dream, Azure Sea Breeze, Lonesome Flower and Sakura Memories to complete quests together. Otherwise, they would have been there a lot earlier. Everyone else in the club was furiously looking for the trigger point for the quest.

With Azure Sea Breeze and Remnant Dream, they would have an easier time against the Pit Commander, and there would be even more DPS.

The items being dropped were horrendous, but this was linked to the damage being dealt.

In the afternoon, Lu Li finally received news that Hachi Chan and the others were about to enter the Dark Portal. He intentionally warned them against bringing chariots to give the NPCs. Chariots weren’t worth as much as an Enhanced Amulet.

Furthermore, the amulets weren’t guaranteed. Donating a chariot might not have given an Enhanced Amulet, but a normal amulet was not a problem.

Lu Li’s amulet gave him a 60% damage bonus, so his damage was absurd against these monsters.

There were eleven people arriving, including Hachi Chan. This wasn’t the limit, but Lu Li didn’t want to keep asking her to help out with the quests and sacrifice her time for the sake of advancing others. He simply didn’t think that it was worth it.

After clearing out the wave of monsters, Lu Li and the Paladins charged at full speed to the entrance of the Dark Portal, received the new arrivals and immediately returned to their post.

It was just at that time when the next wave of monsters arrived, so they didn’t even need to charge.

“What is happening?”

Drifting Rain saw Pit Commanders come out from the Portal and froze. It wasn’t that he hadn’t seen a Pit Commander before; they had killed many of these. Rather, he froze because he hadn’t seen four Pit Commanders being summoned at a time.

This didn’t make sense!

Even if they wanted to increase the numbers, it should have been a gradual increase, one by one. It didn’t make sense for the number of Pit Commanders to jump from one to four straight away.

If this happened earlier, the Stair of Destiny would have already been destroyed.

It was glaringly obvious that the System didn’t want the players to continue grinding EXP.

“Lord Sethria, I think we need reinforcements.”

If they didn’t have to, Lu Li did not want to face the four Pit Commanders by themselves. This was because they had ‘snuck’ in from the outside. If there was no one to revive them, then they could only respawn back in Azeroth.

If they wanted to return here, then they would have to re-activate the questline.

Furthermore, they would stand to lose a considerable amount of EXP and more equipment. If they couldn’t deal with this wave of monsters, then Lu Li would take his people away from this camp and retreat.

Hachi Chan was dumbfounded. Before they came, all the rumours that they heard about the Paladins were pleasing to their ears. They heard that items littered the battlefield and that the monsters were easily slain. They even asked for Remnant Dream to come and loot the items.

What was the situation now?

Why were there four Bosses at the same time? From looking at the collective expressions of the NPC and Lu Li’s party, they knew that something wasn’t quite right.

Were they going to die as soon as they arrived? Were they just here to watch?

“General Orion, I think that we will require your assistance.”

Sethria was not in a state of panic. It seemed that this had happened before.

“Don’t worry, Sethria. You know, this is the meaning of my existence.”

Lieutenant General Orion had already charged ahead. Taking a deep breath and exhaling, he grew from a two-metre, well-built Orc into a monster that was five or six metres tall.
